Hey YouTube Stephen, the salon guy here and today I've got a video on how to style, fine or thin hair. Now, there's a lot of people out there, men and women who have a lot of hair, but the texture of it may be fine. You know so there's coarse hair, there's wavy, hair curly, you know there's all different hair types, but fine hair means just you know the density of it. So you can have a lot of hair, but the individual hair strand can be very, very fine and I've seen that on a lot of different clients. So there's then there's thin hair, which means that the hair itself is a lot thinner um. You do see a lot more, the scalp, so I'm going to be losing their hair, but today's video was focused on some styling techniques and tips that can help you how to style your hair. The first step you want to do is to use a pre styling product, that's going to actually add some volume to your hair, something that's not going to make it really really super stiff or sticky or hard to work with, but I'm using my product, pre style, Which is actually a true pre styling product, it's not designed for post styling, or it's really designed to help give you volume in your hair and it's a light gel that when you rub it through hand, it transforms into a light foam mousse. So I think mooses are a great product to help add that volume and texture in your hair and this one really gives weightless volume, which means that it gives you a lot of fullness but without making it feel way down or hard to work with. So you want to make sure you're applying this to your hair from scalp to ends really really work it through, and then you can start the blow-drying process so before I start to blow-dry it. What you want to do is you want to lift from the root area down here or the scalp area, and the best technique is to kind of lift and use the dryer like this lift and use a dryer depending on the type of hairstyle that you want. That'S the way you have to blow-dry it as well. So if you want your hair to go over this way, if you lock it in with the heat this way, it's going to have a difficult time to come back so make sure that when you're styling it you're blow-drying it in the way that you want. So, let's blow dry this and then we'll right back to see what looks like. As you can see, we got a lot of natural good volume from this product and I can run my fingers right through it. But pre style is an amazing pre styling product. Now, just a quick note, I did thin this out with my thinning shears, so the actual texture of it is very fine and thin, because I removed a lot of weight and you can actually see down to the scalp and some of it in some areas here. So I did want to try to recreate this type of hair texture. So now that you have the hair, nice and full, this is the first step. The second step is really up to you. Now I don't suggest using any sort of gel or something that's like a pomade to make it really shiny or greasy looking, because that will actually make it look thinner. The key to making your hair look fuller and working with your hair texture is you want to look very matte and like there's, not a lot of product in it to maintain that fullness, because you want the haired strands to expand and anytime they're wet they'll kind Of shrink up like this, and it will make it look, thinner and even more see-through towards the scalp, so you want to use something: that's really going to bring the hair strands together. That'S the product as well as a technique. So, as you can see here, just even using pre style, which has a very light kind of hold, all that volume is here, you can actually just spray this with hairspray or leave it at it, as is, but I want to show you guys a little trick That might help you now I'm going to share with you a technique that is extremely helpful. It'S a very, very old classic technique, but it's a you know a really really important one and it's called back combing or teasing now traditionally, this is done on a lot of women, but if you're a guy it doesn't mean you can't do it either and basically, What you're doing is you're going to be teasing or back combing because you're using the back of the comb right here and you're combing this way. So what you're doing is you're creating a little bit of a kind of light knot or some edits, roughed-up texture, which will then support the base of the hairstyle that will allow you to mold a hair shape the hair into any shape you want. So there's a few different ways: you can do it, you can do it on top of the section which I usually don't do I we do it on the back right here, because you don't want people to see from the front. So what I'm literally doing is I'm locking the comb in and I'm literally pushing down as I pull the hair strand upwards and that's literally create creating a base like a foundation, and that is really going to give you some extra volume. And it's also going to kind of punch the hair together to make it look a little fuller, but you're only going to do it at the base area because you don't want it to look and get to kind of ratty. Looking or knotty look knotted, so you're. Just literally pushing down at the base to build a foundation to add more support to that style and, as you can see here, we have a lot more kind of you know fullness now and that's what it usually looks like it looks like a big. You know a big giant mess, but then what you do once it's teased and this doesn't you can use this on your hair texture. If it is thick. This is just a great way to get extra volume. So once your hair is like this, you can see really up close here, that the hair is a little bit knotted. You know more towards the root area here. So then, what you do is now you start to work the shape in and all this is going to do it's going to create a really good, solid foundation to keep your hair fuller throughout the day. So it's really just a nice little hairstyling trick and technique. Really that's what this is is it's a technique to allow you to keep a little more volume and fullness in your hair, and then you can go in and use a product. You can use hairspray, but this is something that really really is helpful. As you can see here, it's really helpful, especially working with finer, hair or thinner hair and, lastly, you want to use a product. That'S going to really give your hair a really good matte finish, so I'm using talc and I'm just going to squeeze the number of dabs in it, and this is my number one selling product. This is really really truly a remarkable product, because what this does is it actually brings the hair together, which creates a thicker base, and it makes the hair shaft the kind of swell, and that also makes the appearance of it being fuller and thicker, and it also Is very, very matte, so what you can do is you can kind of work that in to the hair and then use your fingers to kind of tweak out and give it more of a you know, a piece of your style as far as like adding some Texture to it again, you don't want to make it very wispy and thin looking, but you can make it textured in certain areas, but just don't overdo it, because what could happen is you can see you'll start to see right through the scalp. You want to make sure that if you are adding some texture, you're adding texture but also keeping it full and keeping the hair together at the same time. But this is a great way to kind of add some body and some life to your hair, especially if it's more on the fine side. What you don't want to do is you don't want to use any sort of gels unless your hair is, you know, maybe thick right in the front and you're going to slick it back, which would make it look thicker if it's all kind of slicked back, like A really really strong gel, but you don't want to use anything, that's going to make you hair like wet on fine hair, because it will actually make it look a lot thinner. The same thing applies to female clients where, if your hair is on the finer side like this, and it's usually weighed down a lot, follow the same procedure as far as using a volumizing product, and you want to make sure you're keeping your hair. Maybe a little bit more on the shorter side that will add a little more kind of texture and fullness to it, because if you have really fine or thin hair - and you have it really really long, you know it could make it look a little thinner or Weigh it down, but you know, like I said you could have a lot of hair a ton of hair, but the texture of it like this. This is actually really really really fine hair. So this is a good example of you know. We'Re wearing it shorter gives. You a little more styling flexibility, because you can wear it in a variety of ways that will give the appearance of making it look fuller. So what we're going to do is we're going to tease this a little bit as well and again, you could do the same thing where you literally comb the hair straight up, I'm going to use the fine teeth and I'm going to comb back home just like That to create a little bit more of a solid foundation, and again this is doing - is creating a little bit of texture and almost like making it a little more ratty and naughty towards the scalp area, which would then give it a more. You know solid base that you can work off of and what you're doing is you're combing down at the root area and you're pulling upwards with the RET with the ends, and that's just allowing for the base to be teased. You don't really want to go all the way to the you know to the ends of the hair, because you want the ends to look healthy and thick as well. So you don't really want to like go too far out and if you do just make sure that your you're going to comb through it so that you can get that body and set the ends that look too thin, even an even thinner. You don't want them to look thinner than in the beginning or when you're when you're first starting and you just literally you don't have to do the whole head. You can just do it in areas that you want a little more fullness. So don't feel like because I'm doing the entire head, you have to just do it and you can do just do like a couple. One two: three four, you know just do like a couple: little teeth back, homing technique just like that, just to kind of add a little bit of texture. You know it doesn't really have to be a lot a lot. So, as you can see, this looks like a complete mess. What you do is you, then go in, and you start to piece this out with your fingers to kind of tame it, and what I'm doing is I'm using the point of the tip of the comb right in through here and I'm just combing. On top of the surface, that's the key. This whole thing is using the surface or combing the surface, so you're keeping that foundation that you made and you're not losing all that texture. So some you know just be careful depending on how you want to wear it, because you know it could end up being too full or you know to kind of looking or it might you know you don't want to make it look outdated. You don't mean so. Sometimes this may have a tendency to look a little too overdone, but some people like that look. You know some people like that kind of more fuller, look and that's totally fine. It'S whatever your preference really comes down to preference, so you just kind of mold it and sculpt it down to where you feel comfortable, and you feel that it looks thicker. And then this is just another great technique to help add some fullness to your style. Okay and there you go and then you can also you know tuck it behind the ear if you want, but as you can see, it looks a much fuller than before, and these are just little styling techniques and tricks that I think could help you alright guys. Thank you so much for watching, don't forget to Like comment and subscribe and let me know if it's really helped you out, and I will see you guys next time for more videos with Aswang guy
