Disney'S Cinderella Hair Tutorial, Ball Hairstyle 2015

Inspired by the hairstyle Lily James, aka Cinderella wore to the ball in the 2015 Disney Cinderella movie.

Our "sponge rag rollers" no heat curls tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N1WM7...

Ever since this movie was announced, we have had many requests for a Cinderella hairstyle tutorial. We're a little slow on getting to this, but we finally got around to seeing Cinderella this past weekend. Such a great show! We also noticed the many cute braided hairstyles throughout.

We decided to film a tutorial for the ball hairstyle, as it was the most requested. This simple and elegant style is quite easy and should work with most hair lengths and textures.

You may have noticed that the Princess's hair didn't turn out quite as curly as Cinderella's. We were a little disappointed in our curls as we ended up having to take the curlers out after just a couple of hours, and they didn't hold as well as usual. We wanted the curls to look effortless and natural, but not quite as flat and blah as they turned out! If I were to try this style again, I would leave these curlers in overnight, or go for a curling wand or curling iron. ;)

The braided headband in this style can be made several different ways, depending on your hair length and thickness. If your hair is fine, I would recommend making a braid on each side and doubling them up to make the headband appear to be thicker and more textured. And of course, if your hair is shorter, you can make a braid on each side and join the ends at the top, instead of the braids having to reach all the way across her head. We chose a rope braid because the headband on Cinderella appears to be a twist of some sort, but of course, you can do any type of braid you want. If I had to guess, I would say the original hairstyle was probably created by using a hair piece for the headband, as well as some added extensions for the glamorous looking curls. You can purchase a synthetic braided headband if you want, which would make your hair appear to be thicker and the braid more voluminous.

If you are looking for magical sparkle just like Cinderella, some glitter could also be added as the finishing touch!

Hey guys today we're going to be doing a Cinderella inspired hairstyle, and this is the hairstyle that she wore to the ball. I started by putting some sponge rag rollers in her hair and we do have a tutorial showing how to make these on our channel. I will put a link to that in the description box below in this hairstyle. Cinderella had a center part, so as you're putting these rollers in you may want to make that part first, just so that you don't have to separate the curls to part that out later. So I'm just going to remove these real fast and then we'll come back. When all of the curls are out, okay, here's how our curls turned out. She has pretty long hair. So when we use sponge rollers, it makes nice loose curls. If your hair is shorter, the curls might turn out a little bit tighter than what you want for this look. I noticed in the movie that the curl she was wearing were more tasseled effortless curls and they weren't really tight spirals. So that's the look you're going for if you'd rather use a curling wand or curling iron, you can definitely do that. Instead, to make this hairstyle we're going to be making a twisted headband that goes across the top, I'm pretty sure in the movie. She was probably wearing a headpiece because the braid was super thick and it looked unnatural to me, but we're going to do the best we can with real hair. So I'm going to start by leaving out a section here in the front and then I'm going to grab some hair down here right above her ear to make a braid with you want to grab a thick of a section as you can. That'S still going to look okay so that you can make the braid big I'm going to split this section in half and I'm going to make a twist braid with this and as I'm making a braid, I'm going to be holding her hair up so that we Don'T get a strange bump here if you braid going down and then you fold it up, it's not going to sit right so try to braid going upwards alright to make this braid I'm going to twist both of these in the same direction. I'M twisting them to the right and then I'm going to twist them together to the left, so I'm continuously twisting the individual strands as I them together the opposite way. All the way up her hair is long enough that I can actually bring this all the way over to the other side. If your hair is on a shorter side, you might have to make two braids and then just kind of join them here in the center. Just do what you have to do to make it work with your hair. Now that I have that braided long enough that it can reach the other side, I'm going to go back through these individual strands and stretch them out. It'S going to mess up the braid. A bit, but you want it to look chunky and thick. You don't want a skinny little braid all right now that I have that braid stretched out, I'm just going to place it across the top of her head, bring it over to the other side and I'm making sure that I'm leaving out some hair in the front On this side as well, and then I'm going to use a tiny elastic to secure this to the other side, if you'd rather use bobby pins, you can, but with her hair, it's kind of fine and I found that the elastics hold it tighter. So I just grab a small strand of hair from here on the other side, and I'm going to tie that together so depending on the thickness of the hair that you're working with you can actually make another braid on this side and cross it over the top. So that it's doubled up, if you need to, I think hers is thick enough that I'm just going to leave it as the one braid and then, as I mentioned before, if you have shorter hair, you can make a braid over here and then just kind of Tuck the ends in here at the top and pin the whole thing, and it will look like one continuous braid. So now we're going to work with this hair that we left out in the front. I'M just going to spray it with a little bit of hairspray and then twist it back behind here and pin it I'm just using the hairspray to kind of keep things smooth and in place. But you don't want it super tight and then I'm just going to lightly twist this lift up this hair a bit and then pin knot and I'm pushing it forward a little bit so that it has some volume up here in front. If you cross your bobby pins, you can probably get away with only using two and it's going to hold pretty securely, and then you can just bring this hair over the top of those to hide it. So that's the finished, look on the first side and I'm just going to do the exact same thing over on the other side, the breeds that are right here across the top stand out even a little bit more, I'm going to take them and stretch them out More than the rest of the braid, and then I'm just going to grab this section of hair, that's right on top and I'm going to tease it a little bit so at this point, we're pretty much done with the style, I'm just going to add a little Bit of hairspray so that those curls will stay in here's the finish Cinderella style, hope you enjoyed it. You
