Curly Hair Updo - Hair Tutorial - Tasha Arnall

In this video, I'll show you how to create an easy curly hair updo. Since I have curly hair myself, I decided to do this style on myself to show it can be done by anybody at home. All you need to pull this off is a few bobby pins, some hairspray, and of course some curls :) If you don't have naturally curly hair, don't worry because this curly updo will also work with straight hair that's been recently curled with a curling iron or hot rollers.

The basic idea of this curly hair updo is create a look that is somehat tasseled, but still soft and elegant, that complements the messy nature of curly hair.

Hi everyone, I'm Tasha from bloom hair, and today I wanted to show you guys how to do an updo with naturally curly hair. Now, since I happen to have naturally curly hair, I decided to do it on myself, but keep watching if you don't have naturally curly hair, because you can still use the same technique and you can just curl your hair first, okay. So, let's get started so we're going to take my favorite hairspray, my Schwarzkopf osis session hair spray, I'm going to spray it all over all right! First, we're going to leave the hair in front of the ears so leave this hair alone until the end, we're going to leave that and we're going to take the hair out half of it and leave the rest for now and what we're going to do is We'Re going to pin this up and we're going to create some volume in the crown here. So once we've got this pinned up in as much volume as you desire we're going to work with the back pieces. So I'm going to turn around and now we're going to work with all of this hair. So what I'm going to do? I'M going to split this into about you see about three sections in this first section now twist it and pin it and we do the same to the other two. Okay. So, depending on how thick your hair is, you might have four sections. You might have five sections just do it, however many you feel comfortable with okay. So now that we've got our volume here, we've got the back pinned up now we're going to work with all these end pieces and we're just going to pin them into place. Just nice and loosely, we want it to keep it soft and messy, because that's really what natural curly hair is all about. Okay, so once you've got all these pieces pinned in place, you can do it as tight or as loose as you want. You can leave more pieces out. You can leave more pieces hanging. You can really have fun with it lucky for us. Curly hair is super easy to put up I'm going to use some more hairspray all right. Now we're going to go back to the front and these pieces that we left down before we're just going to work with those and pin those up again, depending on how shorter along these pieces are in the front, you can leave some down around your face. If you like, or you can put them all back, whatever look you're going for, I happen to not love hair in my face, so I'm just going to pin it away from my face. I could leave it down. That would look good too. Alright, I think I'm done more hairspray. So here's our finished look. We'Ve done a super, easy updo for naturally curly hair, or you can also use it for straight hair. You can just curl it with a curling iron first and use the same technique so guys, thanks for watching I'm Tasha from bloom hair, and if you like this video, please click like. If you have any ideas for future videos. Please leave a comment. I would love to hear it and please subscribe to my youtube channel. That would be awesome thanks, guys, buh-bye

Hunter Baker: Finally!!  This is the FIRST tutorial I have EVER seen/used that actually turned out EXACTLY like the video said it would.  Thank you, Tasha!!!  You just made this curly-headed girl very happy!

Ara Lucia Ashburne: Thank you for showing this technique. I was struggling trying to figure this out on my own. I'm going to do it right now!

M G: Tasha! Thanks so much for this video.  My hair is about as curly as yours. It is not quite touching my shoulders.  Not quite long enough for a ponytail.  The way you broke this down I can now finally put it up.  Can't wait to try!

Samantha Scardina: I love it! I’m always wearing my hair in a high ponytail and it was starting to pull on my hair up front. I love this idea and it gave me some other ideas as well. I don’t ALWAYS have to use a ponytail holder to get my hair up

HEYTOOTS: FINALLY, a tutorial that answers my hair needs and updo basics! Thank you so much.

Rocklyn Hamilton: This style is great!! I"ve been looking for a way to stay cool this summer! Thank you!

Rocklyn Hamilton: This is a great video, and I have shorter curly hair in layers, and this is perfect! This picture is not what my hair looks like now. Thanks for all these great ideas!

Brittany Villarreal: Thank you so much for this video! I have naturally curly hair and it's so hard to find up do hairstyles to try!

Ev: Curly hair is definitely all about being messy! I love this video,

Heidi Kovack: Love it! Thank you!

Christine Horwath: I know this is a very old video but I used to hate my natural curls but because of doing updos on myself I have actually done all of my friends hair for weddings and proms etc wout any real training and they love it !

heidi stewart: Thanks soooo much i used this video for my curly hair for my wedding day and i got alot of compliments from it i am a subscriber for life !!!

jbubly: Liked the video very much!  I, too, was interested in why you feel the need to use hairspray before you put up your hair?  Does it somehow help it stay better?  Or provide volume?  I have actually never used hairspray on my hair. I have very curly, very fine, shoulder length hair. I, too, would love to see some ideas on putting up the hair when wet.  Thank you!

Shaunell MacGloan: Loved it! Will try!

W Guerra: Thank you Tasha. I am in France for my sister's wedding and needed some inspiration.

Tasha Arnall: I love hairspray, and especially the osis session hairspray because it doesn't leave me feeling or looking like a helmet. It's not sticky at all. It's up to you how much hairspray you need :)

Suz: It looks fabulous, great tutorial, I'm fed up wearing my hair in just a bun on top of my head, always wondered how to do this, is it necessary for all the hairspray, my hair is quite fine and I'd be scared of knots? TFS :)

shimmygirl linda: love it your hair is lovely xx

Sarah: Loved this thanks..

Tasha Arnall: I will come up with one soon, thanks for the input!

Fran Coleman: This video changed my life. Thank you!

Michelle Markwart: Hi! Great video. Wondering if you have one for loose curls, shoulder length with no bangs. I have super fine hair so I find it tough to find solutions that work!

Tasha Arnall: I use Malibu shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. I also like the "love" shampoo and conditioner made by the same people who make 'Marakesh oil' Basically curly hair needs a more moisturizing shampoo because it's naturally dry to begin with Hope the helps ;)

Elizabeth Gerrits: Does this work for thicker hair ? Love the video and want to try.

Tasha Arnall: I probably wash my hair 2-3 times a week...I don't mind the 'dirtiness' from the hairspray, it gives me more volume. I do rinse my hair everyday and put conditioner through it on the days I don't shampoo, that helps get some of the product out.

M M: Thanks dear Tasha love it love it

Ana Jo: Can you please do some more curly hair styles.............. please :)

drpeety: dont you feel your hair dirty after all the hairspray you put on? and how often do you wash it?

Ana Jo: PLEASEEEEEEEE MORE CURLY HAIR VIDS ON YOURSELF PLEASEEE LOLZ THANK U!!

Kathryn Lutfy: Just what I was looking for.  I have a charity fashion show tomorrow night and it is going to rain.  Can't do much with my hair when it rains!  Thanks for the video!

Tasha Arnall: Yes Jackie, just plain ol bobby pins :) Hope you give it a try so you can have some more variety in your hair life

Tilly Wesson: thanks, i hate hairdressers doing my hair as they insist on washing it and its better when not washed have watched this a few times and can hopefully do it,

Tasha Arnall: yes I should do that, good idea!

Haiivaii: i really like your tutorial! and u should deffinitely keep doing it. but pleaase cut your dead ends and leave the chemical hairspray... i know as a curly women myself it is hard for the hair to stay in plaxe this way... but it's a lot healthier for your hair! cause it's only getting thinner this way

sayittomyface idareyou: Well done

msmart100: What hairspray are you using?

Liz McLean: Beautiful i wish i could get that look my hair is very thin & fragile since cancer treatments. May be add some extensions ???

Gazelle CB: But to find all these pins and take em out is a struggle for a curly haired girls like me. It takes an eternity for me to find all these pins and I end up plucking my hair

Jackie Ward: What are you using to pin it? bobby pins or something else? its looks so pretty that way and I have long very curly hair! I would really like to try this hairstyle. Right now i can only wear it about 2 ways, down and up in a bun!

crypticcurls: Lovely but why all the hairspray?

Erin Ardito: What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use?

M M: I have no time in the morning to shower, leaving home before 6am, please make a video, how to refresh my hair with no shower thanks

Shreya Bhattacharya: I have super naturally curly hair but the updo didn't work the way yours did.. will try again.

Bradley Taylor: Your arms look great!!

Cstyle 27: OMG, waaaay to many pins..:(

llamaman25: You have great looking arms!!

Reem *: Cute , but it'll be cuter if u stright ur bangs

Jay W: Great biceps!!
