Hello follow along with me today, as we create some elegant, curly updos, to take your girls to the office hello. This is april with the girl story sharing what we all love the most easy curly hairstyles - and these are my two favorite updo hairstyles, because they only take about five minutes. They celebrate the curls and they protect them too. So, let's get started. The first bonus is that you do not need perfect curls to do these hairstyles. This is real life. Curls right here you can see some frizz. You can see some curl separation we're gon na go with it. I'M not doing a refresh, i'm just going to show you what's possible to be able to just get through your morning and enjoy your day right now. My hair is completely dry, it does have styling products in it from yesterday's wash day and i'm not going to be using any brushes or combs. Just this coily band and some bobby pins and here's what the coily bands look like up close. I have one with a matte finish, so it has a little bit more grip than the slippery clear ones and i'm just trying to find the position that i want to start with either at the center of my head or a low ponytail. So i'm going to start here on the bottom, wrap it around twice as if i was going to do a ponytail, but i don't pull the ends through then. I have this funny little bump here and here's where we're just going to use a few bobby pins. Three to maybe five six, just depending now, i have crazy layers in my hair from my last haircut, so my hair is poking out all over the place, so i'm probably going to use a lot more bobby pins than you will need. I'M not even opening the bobby pin, i'm just placing the bobby pins in at all different sides of this little curly bun and in just a few minutes it's going to totally transform, and i love that this hairstyle just really celebrates the curls. It lets the curls. Be the details of the hairstyle so rather than me, fighting with my hair or try to make it turn and twist in a direction that it doesn't want to. I'M just letting it letting the curls guide me so i'm seeing where they want to go. And then i'm just gently guiding them into place with the bobby pins and really just highlighting them. So it's fun to see the end result and how, in just a few minutes, they really just come to life and then make this hairstyle look so much more complicated and detailed than it really is to do, and i do have a lot of waves and small Baby hairs around my face, and i just leave all of that texture there. I do finish it off with a little bit of hairspray just to polish it a little bit but still letting all the texture and all that design stay. I also wanted to show you how easy it is to take this hairstyle out. Have you ever wondered that, when you're watching hairstyle videos that look really detailed or intricate and you're thinking? Okay, what how long is it going to take me to take that hairstyle out of my hair at the end of the day, so i wanted to give you this sneak peek of it. I just search for all of the bobby pins. It'S a pretty quick process and the coily band is really easy to take out. I know i was really afraid of them at first. I thought they were just gon na get super knotted and twisted up in my hair, but they actually just come right out very easily. So now, i'm gon na show you how i use two. So it's essentially the same hair styling technique, but we're going to double it up, so this is a double curly bun i like to call it i'm just using a sectioning clip to hold that top part of my hair up. I really love these. I know if you've seen other videos how i use these all the time so for this coily band, i use it just like a regular hair band, i'm wrapping it around twice and before i pull that ponytail through. I just leave the ends loose and then pin up that top portion with just two or three bobby pins and that's going to be the bottom section, so it is much smaller and thinner than when i did all of my hair in just one curly bun. I did not use any type of sectioning comb or brush or anything. I just loosely pulled apart this top section from the bottom, because i don't want to separate those curl clumps because that's what's really going to cause frizz, and so i just gently separate. You can see the crazy part line that i have there. I wish i would have done that a little bit better, but i didn't see it at the time. So the same thing is i'm just pulling up as if i was going to do a ponytail left. The ends out, and then i have this funny little bump of hair and then i'm just going to check whether i'm going to pin it forward or i can just pin it down a little bit, creates a different look. If i pin it forward, it makes more of the fauxhawk design, or in this case i'm going to pin it back because it looks like that's what my hair wants to do today. So i'm just gon na go with it again, just listen and see what it wants to do and just go with that, and it really came out to look like a royal design. It has a really long intricate pattern with the curls. It almost looks like some type of complicated braid, so i was really excited about it and then i always need to look all around the design and see where i need to make some little tweaks, because there's always a bend of a curl that pops out or Of course, that funny crease line that i need to cover up. So i can just rake that, through with my fingers and then of course i'll finish off with a hairspray to just really set the look in place, give it a little extra shine and a little extra hold, especially as you can see. All of those small baby hairs around the front and i'm just letting them be, they will not uh stand to be pressed down or slick down. So the only thing i can do is use a little spray to just sort of polish them up, but just let them do their thing and i do have a technique for applying the hairspray. So, as you saw i'll spray and then i'll rake in the product to really just smooth it down and then look at this one little curl bump. So, rather than just sticking in the bobby pin, i'm actually going to loop it into the curl and then pin it down and then do my spray and rake to really polish off the look. It'S quite a different mindset shift for me to work with my hair than to try to fight against it, but it really is fun to to actually let my hair do what it wants to do and learn how to style it and playing with different products. Here i'm trying on a second hairspray because it's more of a wet hairspray - it's not an aerosol, so that does give it a little bit more moisture to try to get some more clumping around those baby hairs in the front. So would you wear this to work? Would you wear it to a special occasion for the office? Let me know what you think: it's definitely very different than how i've ever worn. My hair before have fun play with your curls and, let me know if you try one of these styles i'd love to hear about it.
