Does The Split-Ender Really Work? | Fab Or Fail | Cute Girls Hairstyles

Split ends in your hair are a girl's worst nightmare, and we all dread getting them! Sometimes just a simple trim between haircuts can keep the ends healthy, but how often do we get around to it? How do we keep our hair healthy between haircuts?

In this Fab or Fail video, we give you our honest feedback on a tool that claims to help eliminate split ends.

A few years back I bought a Split Ender tool online, and just now found them in a box and decided to try it. Since Brooklyn suffers from split ends every once in awhile, she volunteered to by my model. (She was a little freaked out beforehand, so I showed her on a strand of my own hair to help calm her nerves!)

If you are interested in this Split-Ender tool, you can find the latest version here (my version is no longer sold): https://www.splitenderpro.com

Hey guys, it's Mindy and Brooklyn., Hey guys. From Cute Girls, Hairstyles. And today we're gon na be doing a Fab or Fail. And we're going to be demoing. The Split-Ender.. Now we've had like a million people request that we do this, because I think this machine is a little terrifying for the general public because it actually cuts your hair., And so everyone wants somebody else to try it first before they actually try on their own hair.. Me. Yeah Brooklyn is gon na, be the victim today., So we're gon na tell you whether it works, give it a fab or a fail., But before we do that, don't forget that Kamri has officially started her Kamri Noel channel.. If you want to see some of her awesome videos, you can click this information button right there and don't forget to subscribe to our channel., Let's go., Okay, this is what it looks like when it comes. It comes with the actual Split-Ender, a hair clip a comb And a little brush to clean up the dirty ends when you're done using it. And the instructions say, Split-Ender will only work on clean, dry hair.. It'S not intended for daily use just for damaged hair ends, only. And you're supposed to comb your hair free of tangles. Before using., So we're gon na go ahead and unpackage. Maybe.. Okay, so here is the actual Split-Ender.. Can you get that out? Here'S the little comb they sent and the clip and the brush which are really in there tight.? Okay, now the Split-Ender itself has this little comby part right here that you put the hair through when it's unlocked. See. That'S where you put the hair in and close it. Has the blades inside and this little thing to catch all the loose ends of hair.. Then it has a directional switch right. Here. You can change left or right. And a lock button on the bottom. See you can lock it. So that you can't get your hair in there.. Somebody couldn't accidentally cut their hair.. It says on the direction. It'S really important to remember the direction that you're going.. It always wants you to have it pointing towards the arrow towards the ground.. So if I'm holding it like this, then I would be flipping it to this direction. The blades. And if I were holding it like this, then I would need to flip to it this way. So the arrow shows towards the ground.. First, the direction say to separate off a small section of hair. Brooklyn, obviously doesn't have thin hair. So we're going to pull some of hers up and out of the way to create a little bit thinner, sections. And then it says to make sure that they're, nice and smooth and combed out.. So if you have curly hair, my recommendation would be blow dry and probably straighten your hair. Before you use this., We have her hair all ready, now.. I just divide up a little smaller section right here to the side. Like this. And then I'm gon na get the Split-Ender ready.. Now I'm gon na be going like this, so I wan na make sure the directional button is going down.. I need to unlock it. So that I can put her hair in. And just so you know in the spirit of full disclosure. I have tried this on my own hair just before filming this. Just to make sure I wasn't going to chop her hair off. Yeah, I was scared.. She was like you can't do this on my hair., I was like you better, not chop my hair off., So we know it's not gon na chop hair at this point. We're just gon na trim it., So we're gon na put her hair in to the middle Of the Split-Ender. Remember, my direction is pointing down. Like this. And then squeeze it., And let it all the way down to the hair., And you can go over it even more than once. If you feel like you didn't get a good pass. The first time. Like that., Now we're gon na get another section and continue to do the same thing.. So if your hair isn't already smooth, then you wan na just comb it out beforehand'cause. You really want to make sure the Split-Ender at least on the direction. It says that it just runs very smoothly through the hair. Which it is on Brooklyn's., Okay, so that layer's done and we're gon na just move up her hair. Okay. This is our last strand and I wanted Brooklyn to really feel the texture of her ends.. Her hair is colored, so she has like a little bit of damage on her ends, so I want her to feel it really get a feel for it. And then I'm gon na run it through the Split-Ender and see if she can tell the difference. Okay. Okay.. I'M just gon na run it through and it does say on the package. You can run it through a couple of times., So I do one full strand and then I cut like twice just over the ends.. So there is that same piece, Brooks., Feel it and see. If you notice any difference. Feels a lot smoother.. Okay, I can see some hair in there and now it's time to see if it really worked and how much it cut off.. So we're going to open this top part and then I'm going to it has a little top a little trap door thing right, here., So I'll try to brush the blades off hair.. Okay, so you can see after all, that running that's pretty much it for her hair. And it really literally, is just like the bottom, maybe eight or one fourth of her hair strands., It's just the tinniest tinniest ends.. It'S like this big. Yeah, it's not very big! At all. So definitely didn't have a scary haircut moment. Here., We just barely trimmed up the ends. Okay. So here's my conclusion about the Split-Ender.. I definitely think that it worked. It wasn't as terrifying as we thought it might be. It made my ends smoother.. It definitely made her ends smoother and feel better, but it's not gon na replace like if your hair is really damaged like up two or three inches. It'S not gon na work'cause. You just need to go, get a haircut., So I think this would be great for in between your regular hair trims, if you're trying to keep your hair healthy and you're just noticing a few split ends from heat. Damage. Definitely think it would work then.. The trickiest part for me actually in using the machine, was putting it back. Together. Like after I cleaned it out, putting it back together was a little ... Difficult. It was weird to snap it in., But other than that. I'M definitely gon na give it a fab.. What do you Me too ,'cause? I can feel the difference in my hair a little bit so I'm gon na give it a fab too.. Definitely so it gets a double fab thumbs. Up. Now don't forget to subscribe to our channel. If you love these kinds of videos., Don't forget that you can find more of us and Kamri over right here in the information button, and we will see you guys next. Week. Bye, guys., Bye,

SweetTreats: I love Fab or Fail videos!

Candy Bri: Omg I love the way she includes us girls with natural curly hair in most of her vids. I feel so loved. ❤️

MoonRae: Mindy seems like a mom to us lol. She doesn't change her attitude from Brooklyn to us. It's awesome

Jasmin: So for everyone scrolling in the comments, here is a conclusion: * it does work, if you only have a few split ends *it doesn't cut too much or wrong hair * it can be a little difficult putting it back together

Eiliyah Ali: You should totally make this into a series where you try stuff out!! I'm sure that a lot of people including me would love to watch!!!

21hairgirl- Amber: I have this and love it SO much! NO more tangles for once in my life. (I always use conditioner and expensive shampoo and get knots.) I trim my hair myself every couple months.

Barbie: I bought one because of your guys' video, and my hair has gotten so much longer since I got it. You don't have to use it very often, but it prevents a lot of breakage that keeps hair shorter by getting rid of those damaged ends all over. If you're like me, you don't have any/hardly any split ends at the actual longest parts of your hair, but more in the middle underneath where it rubs against clothes, etc. Getting rid of those has helped my hair grow an extra couple inches, which may not seem like too much, but is pretty awesome because my hair was already super long before, so I thought it was maxed out. Nope! Pleasant surprise. Definitely recommend!

Crystal D: Who else is scrolling through the comments to see if it really worked !???

Kirsty Rosie: You both have incredible hair!

Alex Duncan: I was showing my mom this video trying to convince her about this product and toward the end of the video where you said it was fab my mom pointed out how the side of here hair she used the product on us substantially shorter than the other side in the video we didn't get to see how you used the split ender on her other side, we just saw you run it through the girl's right side and it looked like it chopped her hair right off. It's funny because I didn't even see it my mom did I'm sure it was here layers....hopefully

Venesa Meses: I've never seen this tool before, thanks for showing it. After seeing this I would definitely use it for myself or other people.

Lunar Moonflower: Love this video! I wanted to say thank you for adding closed captioning. I'm hard of hearing, and they made it easy to understand what you guys were saying. ☺️

Sabrina: I'm jealous of your hair :o Why do you both have the most perfect hair ever?! Love your channel!

Chef Evi Lee: I have had my split ender for about 15 to 18 years. For my whole life I could never get it to grow really long. Once I started with the split ender I was able to get my hair all the way down to almost the middle bottom of my back.

Mia Porche: I enjoyed this video. It seems to work on the split ends along the length of your hair which are hard to get rid of if you have any.... but you would still have to trim your actual ends to keep them straight. I would use it!

Brooklynn Hope: Does mindy own a hair salon she would be really good!

Hailey: It's amazing to see how their family has progressed in YouTube over time!

Chase Whorton: I haven't watched this channel in quite a long time and it looks "odd" for Mindy to have long hair.

Emma S: Hi Mindy! Just a heads up, the Split Ender will work better if you leave it on ur split ends for a while. Don't just run it through leave it there for a while. Love your vids and your fam.

Alana Foster: i really like all the fab or fails you guys do! they really help me choose what to spend my money on.

Kajota Cardenas: Thank you so much for taking the time to review it and let us know.

Heather Harrington: I got the Umate brand split end trimmer for like 50 bucks. And it was amazing! My hair was so split and dry after dying it and it now is really smooth. You do have to take a few passes to get it perfect, but I recommend it

Ashley Rose: It def worked and even though it only cut off a tiny bit, it still looks amazing. You can see how much better it looks

Sarah H: My family got one ages ago for around $30 back in 2004 I think. It works fairly well but only if you get your damage at the very tips. I can't imagine anyone spending $300 for one. Your review sounds like its exactly the same as mine. Hard to get the little access port on and off. Other then that I like it too. I have wavy hair so I go with 3 to 5 passes depending my damage. $300 is crazy though....

Wendy House: Thank you ladies! Yes, I hadn't purchased this because of my type of hair. You've just sold me.

Puppy Love Puppy Love: This is so good I would love to use that on my hair

Emma Paige Mallory: Can you guys do a hair care tutorial like what shampoo and conditioner you use? Awesome video!!

Emma Anderson: Story Time! I bought this, and I happened to buy defected one, but I didn't know it. I ran it through my hair and it cut my hair in a slant at the end of my hair. Eek!

Vanessa Bakker: For some reason I was subscribed like I thought I was for the past year if that but I just came across your page (made sure I was subscribed) and all I can say is wow! Your daughter has really matured to a beautiful young lady! Definitely got her mommas genes. Glad I'm subscribed and can see more videos even though I just cut my hair to shoulder length.

Cece Colson: Can't believe how much your girls have grown up! I watched your videos in like 2011 or 2012 and I just found your channel again.

kilawater: Tried this like ten years ago, and maybe the technology has improved since then, but it definitely sucked at the time. It cuts healthy ends off just as much as it does split ends, and any split further up in the hair gets left alone. Furthermore, it doesn't cut every hair, most hair is left out and only a few of the ends (on my, admittedly, extremely thin smooth hair) are actually cut. On the first use, you're like, hm, maybe it works. Then on repeated uses you realise it doesn't really do anything in smoothing out your hair or allowing you to wait longer for a haircut.

jazmine nicole: This is so cool! They're making things so convenient these days

metrica: My friend loves split ends..... she cut her hair, and kept the braid so she could pick all the split ends out before she donated her hair.... it's been almost a year, and she still has it

Silver Earth And Moon: I would love this! I'm a mom of two kids and going in for a haircut is crazy for me I would love this id do it every 3 weeks

Maria del Carmen Ortega López: wow that messy bun was amazing! minute 2:42

EyeMakeupEverything: I remember buying it for $60 5 years ago!! It was a total waste of money. Gosh, what was I thinking lol. If you have split ends, I recommend getting a good trim and use heat protection when using any hair irons. My favorite is TRESemme Thermal Creations. Of course try to avoid high heat as much as possible. I haven't had any split ends in over 3 years! :D

Makylee _820: You should defiantly do more Fab or Fail videos! I love them so much haha! I also love you and your families videos! Huuuuugggggeeee Fan!

Jehan Watley & Co.: I need to know if this will work on hair like Paisley's aka mine...it would be awesome between natural blow outs and cuts for length retention.

J: wait, I just realized, this could be great for trimming your bangs every 3 weeks!

Savannah Holt: great review video! i will have to consider trying one of these! I GIVE IT A FAB!

sara: Brooklyn and Bailey need to do an everyday make up routine

Cheria: I always trim my own hair every 2-3 weeks. My hair ends look fuller from before

Melissa Allen: Please help. My hair has always been my pride and joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. My hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should I do to regrow hair?

Joana Molina: I have one for at least 6 years. It really works on my hair.

mariza gutierrez: Can Brooklyn do a video how she straightens her hair cuz I've been trying to learn how to straighten my hair myself plz❤️ xoxo Mariza

Faith Baxter: Power hour! Brooklyn u look gorgeous in this video (but you always do ) but Mindy I love this series please do more! Love all your family's channels

Lucy Bartlett: I LOVE THIS FAB OR FAIL SERIES!!!!!!!

Keila Remon: We need more experiments, more people to find this product unique.

julianne pail: Brooklyns highlights look awesome

Myeisha M: Also for all those girls with very thick hair the split-ender thins it out!

Elyse L: Brooklyns hair looks amazing !!!

Francisco martins: Hey there! would love if you could do a tutorial /review on a triple barril waver. I got a REALLY expensive professional one from Babyliss that was like 90 usd and I hate it. Not sure if it's me who's doing it wrong. But then again I saw a review from a girl here on youtube that got a super cheap one from revlon (like... 20usd) and her hair looks amazing in the tutorial. So.. I'm mystified by this thing. Because mine is recent while her's isn't, yet mine doesn't give you a natural soft wavy look, it just crimps the hair in a horrible way, like.. it looks like I have fold marks all over my hair instead of a flat / finger wave like it is supposed to. I've tried it on natural hair, synthetic hair, different types of hair and it just looks a MESS. yet I would love to know if there is another one out there that is better because I really like that fairy-tale mermaid waves that you can run your finger through without it getting frizzy. I know how to curl hair in all types of way (I'm a fashion photographer) but was never able to create believable mermaid waves without getting all messed up at the ends (like braiding it - it always gets frizzy at the ends, or flat straight). help?

Aliya Thornton: Please make more of these videos, loved this video

Eva Chantal Girard: I love you videos!! but can you make some hairstyles that also people with fine hair (like me) can do?

Muniya Shemontini: I love this channel since my adolescence. your daughter is so cute. Her eyes are stunning and strikingly beautiful.

Abby Snelling: When she was separating Brooklyns hair into a thinner section I was like "my hair is even thinner than that!!!"

Ilse Garcia: These videos are super cool and it's good to know

Miss Chantal: Will there be split ends when you braid your hair after using it?

T & S Sisters: Hi Mindy! I just wanted to say you are really pretty and I love your videos! Your family is so adorable and I LOVE your BEHIND THE BRAIDS!

Veronica Gz: I had one of these when I was in high school. Early 2000's it worked.

Sym’s World: Can you do more hair styling videos with Paisley?

1000 subscribers without A video: I have a feeling Kamri will look exactly like Brooklyn

Virginia Collins: This channel is where my youtube obsession started 5 years ago. Then all the makeup tutorials and beauty gurus now I literally watch YouTube all day everyday lol

Shelbird: This fab or fail series is so amazing! Do more!

Hermon G: I love Brooklyn's hair!

brooke jones: would you do a video on how all of you do your hair routines from washing it to styling it to go to school or errands xoxoxoxo

to.lame.to.function: Over time the split end go farther and farther up still however. It might seem nice at first but the blades actually leave a really jagged cut unlike just manually using scissors. Those jagged edges are just like having jagged nails.

Bella Cintron: Love this video thanks for all the tips on the video

Jahanvi Kamra: You both have such gorgeous hair omg

Barbie: Do you guys use this regularly? I would love to know if you still like it long term :].

Natalie Koebel: I was looking at this and wanted to know if it actually worked and this helped a lot

straightfromtheheart333: I wish everyone gets an awesome mom like mindy and awesome dad like shaun! ♥️

Catapillargirl 20: How do you know it's just cutting tiny end pieces? It could chop longer hairs it cut into tiny pieces.

Erin Alt: I am so glad something like this exists!! my birthday is in 10 days and I'm TOTALLY asking for one! thanks for reviewing it!

Kenya Zuniga: I just want to know how a hair stylist actually feels about this

Nusi: Brooklyn looks almost exactly like Mindy! But even Bailey looks different.

Nikibee468: Would this work on layered hair?

kayla worden: Brooklyn has beautiful hair!

Tabitha Killian: anyone else agree that Brooklyn has the prettiest eyes on the planet

Tammylynn Hill: What hair products (shampoo conditioner) do you use to help your hair grow and look so shinny and smooth? I also wanted to know what you use on your lashes?

Marisa Liu: It's useful to trim your own hair!

Daniela Pearl: 0:17 brooklyns face tho

Reeve B: I adore these videos! Do you do a power hour too? You should try the straightening hairbrush! I've always wanted to see if it works!

Q B: U should try to vacuum baileys/Brooklyn’s hair into a ponytail!!❤️

Fatima Nadeem: do hairstyles for back to school please!!!

Fatima Nadeem: do hairstyles for back to school please!!!

GT1992 Torres: Ive had this many years ago & it works !!!!

Suzanne: What kind of colouring/highlights does Brooklyn get? Its really beautiful!

Caroline Sander: "Brooklyn obviously has thick hair." Have I seen my hair?? It's the thickness of curly hair because when I was little I had thick hair but it straitened out as I grew up. Now my hair is getting curly again.

Romanze Robinson: I love it when you do her hair

Kirston Kent: I just got a split ender & I love it

Lindsay Sutter: You should try the air curler

Julie Dawn: I love how you guys take the time and effort to reply to comments!! I find you don't see many YouTubers who do☹️

Ella LoveXXX: I LOVE Brooklyn’s hair dye!!!!!!!

Bianca: Please do a tutorial on your youngest daughters hair please!

Aer Inisik: Does anyone actually read the instructions for this thing? I love you guy's & Bunny's video but you are supposed to do a pass on each section of hair from 3 to 5 times on every single section of your hair. For extreme damage, you would do all 5 passes on every section, if lesser damage to normal damage, only 3 passes. Doing it once &/or not doing every section of your hair to get all hair done, will don't get the correct/full results. Please try it again(:

Katie Bailey: I have a lot of random split ends all threw my hair not just the ends, I get regular hair cuts but it's those split ends that are not at the bottom that don't get trimmed so would this be a good product for me? What was the price of it?

Stellarious: Dang, if she has thick hair, then I must have HUGELY thick hair.

Ronnie Peterson: First came curls now your style split-ends you mad Brooklyn did and it qwas a nice vlog. A Teen Choice award going to you McNight Family for four of them.

Lillylou xx: Mindy is so beautiful its weird how brooklyn, bailey and kamri look like you but rylan looks like sean x
