Lice In Our House? | Tips For Natural Lice Removal & Treatment

My sister and her 4 kids came to visit for the 4th of July holiday! UNFORTUNATELY, they discovered mere HOURS before boarding their plane, that one of her daughters, Kylie, had LICE! In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the best tips & tricks to NATURALLY get rid of lice.

Just remember that anyone can get lice and get lice isn’t gross. KEEPING lice is gross!

When you or your kids get lice, you need to get rid of them IMMEDIATELY! Lice can lay 6-10 eggs a day, so you could be dealing with HUNDREDS of lice and a full infestation before you even know it!

STEP 1

Gather the following

* Extra virgin olive oil

* Metal Comb

* Old t-shirt you don’t care about

* Applicator bottle

STEP 2

Separate hair by layers. Start at the bottom layer. Use the applicator to apply the olive oil from the roots down, saturating the whole layer. Then take your metal comb and comb through, further saturating the hair AND pulling lice, lice babies, and eggs from the hair.

STEP 3

Repeat layer by layer.

STEP 4

Pull hair back into a braid or bun, and leave it in for at least 8 hours. (While sleeping) Any leftover bugs or babies will drown in the oil overnight.

In families with multiple kids, some kids may have lice and some will not. Treat all kids like they have lice the FIRST night. The oil will help you see the lice and know for sure. After that, kids with no lice need oil treatment every 3 days for 2 ½ weeks. Kids WITH lice need oil treatment every night for 4 nights. After this, they can go every 3 days for 2 ½ weeks.

To remove the oil, you need to use dish soap. This will help break down oils MUCH better than just shampoo and conditioner.

So my sister is coming in town tonight for the Fourth of July.. She discovered that my niece has lice. What I'm gon na show. You is the tried and true natural home remedy.. It'S also way way better for your hair than this is sure to get rid of lice. ( upbeat, music, ), Hey everyone, I'm Mindy from Cute Girls, Hairstyles, and today we are talking about lice., (, gasps ). The scary word that anytime, you say everyone around you panics starts scratching. Their heads starts panicking wondering if anybody around them has lice and what they're gon na do right. In today's video we are gon na talk about lice.. We are gon na blow the lid off of it being taboo and we are going to teach you lice treatment, lice removal, etc. etc. Everything you need to know in case somebody, you know comes down with a case of head lice, because inevitably somebody probably is going To either in your family or someone close to you. Now before we get into the video, be sure to subscribe to our channel by clicking the button right here and if you wan na see some of our over 400 hairstyles tutorials, you can click the i button Right up here. Now, let's get into lice. All right y'all. So today we had a real life. This is total reality right here when you have families of many children moment.. So my sister's coming in town tonight for the Fourth of July and she called me - and she was like I'm about to get on the plane. - We're about a couple hours before the plane ride and she discovered that my niece Kylie has lice.. So totally normal.. I mean lice is not a gross thing. Getting lice is not gross.. Keeping lice is gross right, Like everyone can get lice.. I had lice when I was a kid.. None of my kids fortunately have had lice.. I'Ve never had lice. ( laughs, ). Apparently, I am the only one in our family that had lice, but the point is that lice happens: that's real life, and now we have to get rid of it., So she de-liced washed with RID before she left for the airport so that they were not contaminating Everyone on the plane. And jump to the plane to come out and they are about to land, and so now we are working on our end to get everything set for when they get here.. So I have called the lice doctors - and they are meeting here at 10 o'clock tonight to help my sister comb, all the nits out of her kid's hair and they're gon na teach us some tips and tricks, and since this is a hair channel, I'm gon na Show those tips and tricks to you as well'cause. I think probably some of you out. There can also use these tips and tricks, but in the mean time we are preparing an area of the house that has no cloth in it, for when her kids get here and yeah, we've got a car that fortunately has leather.. So it's not gon na be contaminated and we're ready to go.. So here we are, Tanna has arrived., There's Tanna and Tad and brought along the crew and, as you can see, Kylie is over there getting her head de-liced., Okay. So let's talk about how to do lice removal and lice treatment.. Now I know your first instinct when you find out one of your kids or someone you know has lice, is to panic run to the grocery store, buy RID, pour it on their hair. Clean clean, clean, your hair with RID.. The problem is that RID's really hard on your hair.: It can damage your hair., It can be expensive and unfortunately, it doesn't always eradicate all of the lice issue.. Sometimes it'll kill only the adults, but will miss the babies or the nits, and so in 10 days, you're still having another issue.. So instead, what I'm gon na show you is the tried and true natural home remedy.. It'S also way better for your hair than this is sure to get rid of lice.. So what you do step, one is: go: buy some olive oil like this., Just a can of olive oil or jar of olive oil.. Extra virgin is best but virgin olive oil is fine too. As long as it's olive, oil. You're going to need an applicator bottle like this. Just have a pointy tip.. You can put the oil in the applicator bottle and you're going to need a nit comb like this.. You can get these on Amazon or at a beauty. Supply store. Make sure that you're getting metal, not plastic., The metal ones, work better.. So once you have those supplies, sit your child down, make sure they have on a shirt that you don't mind getting oily and covered in oil because it does stain and soaks into the cloth. So step two. You separate the hair bottom layer first and you're, going to take the applicator of oil and you're gon na run it right along the scalp.. The scalp line right along the hair line and you're going to use the nit comb then to comb all of the oil through the hair and make sure all of the strands are getting saturated and covered in the oil and as you're doing that. You'Re also combing out any potential, nits lice bugs or baby bugs, and if you have a paper towel this side, you just wipe it like this on the paper towel and that will show you what's coming out on the nit comb., So sometimes you're, not sure whether They have lice or not, and so as you're combing you're looking for that. Other time, you know for sure they do and so you're combing it out.. So that's step two. Step three continue to repeat this process layer by layer through the hair working it over and over and over.. If you find a spot where you are seeing more nits or things like that, you wan na go through that down and then go sideways and then go the other way. All of the direction of the hair just to make sure you're thoroughly getting through. All of those nits. Step, four make sure the hair is completely saturated in the oil. You're gon na pull it up into a bun or braid it back, and then you are ready to go to sleep for the night.. So usually you do this in the evening.. The trick is that lice can hold their breath for six hours., So you need to make sure that the olive oil is staying on your hair for at least eight hours.. So you are making sure you're, basically drowning anything that could potentially be on your hair.. The easiest way to do it is to just put a towel over their pillow, so they can just sleep on the towel. If the oil gets off anywhere, it's just gon na be on their towel or on the clothing that they already had on. You didn't care about. It'S not gon na make a huge mess. In the morning when you wake up, and you still have the olive oil in your hair. The best way to get it out of your hair is to use just a little dish. Soap like this. Little bit of dish detergent. This breaks down oils and so it' going to help remove that oil off the hair strands, and then you can just continue to wash with shampoo and conditioner.. If you only try to use shampoo and conditioner, it's not gon na strip, all the oils out and your hairs still gon na feel greasy and look greasy when you're, done., Okay. So as you're doing this, what you're going to find out is that they are those that have lice and those that do not in your family.. What was the verdict? It was like three minutes. [ Mindy ], Three minutes. What'd. She say That's good., [ Mindy ]. No lice. Yeah. [ Mindy ] Thumbs up., It's good., Macie's turn., So we're gon na separate them out into two buckets for one second.. If this person has discovered that they have lice, you need to repeat this oil treatment on their hair every night day. One two three and four. So four nights in a row. You need to do the exact same thing. Saturate, their hair with oil, rub it into the scalp, use the nit comb to comb through their hair check for all of it and braid it up and then put them to bed on a towel.. If you have children that you've discovered do not have lice, in our case only one person., My sister's kids out of my sister's four, only one had it.. So with the other three. Of course they got the olive oil treatment. The first night too, while we were checking their hair, but after that we only had to do the oil treatment on their children day four day, seven day, 10 day, 13 day, 16 day 19.. So it's every three days for pretty much two and a half weeks., And if you have lice you do it every night., One, two three four and then you skip to the every 3rd night routine, and this is just a surefire way to eradicate it. You're gon Na maybe see some continued nits coming out during that time. It'S all normal. It'S totally fine., It doesn't mean anything's alive.. It just means that's the natural process of the eggs as you're, removing them from the hair., Some other tips and tricks that you can use. You can try washing the clothing that that person has worn recently.. Remember lice, don't live off of a human host for more than 24 to 36 hours, so something that's already been away from them, a shirt or a piece of clothing. That long is not going to be infested with lice, but if it makes you feel better, certainly wash their clothing., Some people vacuum their furniture, but again the likelihood of them moving from the furniture to their hair is very small.. As far as your hair supplies go. You can certainly run things through the dishwasher.. I'Ve done that in the past. You can boil the brushes and combs that you've recently used.. You can throw away some of the items that you feel like are infested that you don't want to deal with, or you can just bag everything up into a Ziploc or some kind of garbage bag and set it aside for 36 hours or two days three days And then you know for certain that anything that was on there is no longer living, so they usually have to clean them and they're ready to go again.. Okay, you guys, let's do a little FAQ on lice in general., Now a actual little lice bug, I believe louse is the singular of lice, but a little louse bug is about the size of a sesame seed., It's a wingless, little bug.. It has six legs and it's kind of a brown color, but sometimes they can look almost translucent., So you'll see them crawling around in the hair. If you have a lice infestation, particularly along the scalp and each day, the little bugs are in your hair, they can lay six to 10 eggs a day which means that they can overall ,'cause. They live 30 days. You could end up with hundreds of little nits in your hair for each bug, and then it takes those little nits, eight to 12 days to hatch and pretty soon bam. You have a whole head full of little lice bugs.. Now I wan na reiterate very clearly that it is not gross and there should not be a stigma to getting lice.. I know that everybody's normal reaction is like ahh, lice, oh no, panic mode., But really it's not gross to get lice.. It'S nobody's fault. It doesn't mean you have dirty hair.. In fact, lice, prefer clean hair. If anything else. They prefer clean long, hair., That's their very favorite.. So if you are somebody that gets lice, don't feel about it., I had lice as a child twice not just once, but twice.. It is not gross to get lice.. It is a little gross to keep lice just because that means that you're not taking care of your hair and you're not doing the lice removal treatments that you should be doing to get rid of lice itself. You're, also potentially spreading it to other people.. Okay. Faq number two do lice live on animals, No, they do not.. So if you get lice, you don't need to worry about your pets getting them.. They only live on humans and they can only survive for 24 to 36 hours off a human host.. So it's not! Even if you leave your house for more than 24 hours, you can eradicate lice. Just by doing that, simple thing is just leaving your house because they die if they aren't on a human head.. Do lice carry disease? No, they do not. They do not disease., They might make your head very itchy and your scalp scratchy, but they do not cause diseases of any sort.. The easiest and most common way to get lice is just straight up head to head contact.. That means, if I were to hug somebody and my hair landed on their hair and then the lice may move from their head to my head or if I used a hairbrush that they had just run through their hair and there were bugs in their hair.. It can also be ball caps or hats. That type of thing. Lice can jump from head to head, but that's not very typical., Just because they're kind of lazy bugs too, and so they don't wanna, do any extra effort.. So the best way to prevent lice is to just avoid sharing brushes, sharing hats, pulling your hair up and back or braiding it tightly as opposed to wearing your hair down, can also help. So update guys., The only one so far that has had any lice at All is Kylie and she only had a few., So we caught it early, which yay.. So we prevented an infestation, but we did learn a lot and Kylie had her hair washed again and then wore olive oil and now she's off to bed. Since it is 1:40 A.M. time for bed. Mindy McKnight: Have you or any of your kids had lice? Comment below! Remember you can order Brooklyn and Bailey’s LAST NEXT DOOR HERE: http://www.brooklynandbaileyshop.com 's -Mindy

Earls Family Vlogs: Oh gosh lice is the worst!! Liked hearing a natural way to get rid of it!

Ceara Bostick: I love how you don’t act like it’s something not normal that happens! Honestly thank you for making this video! It happens to almost everyone, and you people should not be afraid to talk about it! I have so much respect for you after this video!!! ❤️❤️

Nora Constant: Remember, lice prefers CLEAN hair, if you get lice..don't feel bad, if anything it means you're clean. just make sure to get it out as soon as possible (to avoid anyone else from suffering)

Eileen Hammond: I wish I knew this when I had lice last year! We used a flea comb and apple cider vinegar but it still took a little over a month for us to get rid of it and it was not fun. Thank you so much for this information in case that ever happens again!!!

Tanner Chuntoth: The worst part about lice is parents not owning up to it and/or treating it, on top of failing to educate themselves. It happens and we all know it doesn't mean someone is "dirty." But if your child has it and could've spread it, PLEASE treat your child properly and inform anyone they've been in contact with. A few months ago, one of the neighborhood children gave my son lice. I told our other neighbor immediately and they said they weren't worried because their children have short hair ‍♀️ It isn't the end of the world, but such ignorance and lack of care is disheartening.

Krista Hammerle: my sister and i each had lice maybe 3 times in two years. the second time, the lice bugs were HUGE. Thankfully we haven’t had any lice since. Also another tip we learned that actually worked is that lice can’t live on dyed hair. my mom had dyed her hair after realizing she had lice and had gotten it clean then never had lice again despite my sister and i being very clingy towards when we had lice. so my mom dyed our hair and killed the lice. unfortunately a year later, my sister and i got it again but we thankfully got rid of it without having to dye our hair again.

Jen D'Angelo: I’m really pleased with the accuracy of this video. I have a lice removal company and this is pretty spot on. T only difference is we recommend putting conditioner in with the olive oil to make it a little easier to comb through the hair (which is a big help when you have kids with thick or curly hair). Great job guys!

Avery Jackson: I've had lice twice as well and I'm hoping never again. I had it once in pre school and it was pretty easy to get rid of and then again in either 3rd or 4th grade and it was awful. It seemed like it took months to get rid of it that time. I was always over the bathtub with my mom throwing new products into my hair until one faithful day when nothing came out on the comb.

Lauren Isn't Dead: My cousin got lice 6 times... I think lice ruined her life

Zainab Chopdat: I love how Mindy gets the best out of this kind of stuff and makes amazing content

Marissa Avalos: So I really struggled with lice when I was younger. Treatment after treatment for years and I just kept getting it. My mom had heard of a technique using mayonnaise! We smothered my hair in mayo, put a shower cap on, slept overnight, and washed out in the morning. That was the last time I EVER had lice!

Muhidisacow: This is great!! Can you do a video like this about dandruff??

Mandy: I had lice, and im sick of people saying DONT GET NEAR ME OR I'LL GET LICE TOO. Like people, lice dont jump head to head, they transfer when you touch hair/s and when you share pillows or things like that.

Felicia Gentry: This reminds me of the time 7 years ago in fourth grade when any treatment I would try wouldn’t work for the lice in my hair. I had gone so long that I had picked a bald spot in my head. It’s grown out now but it was so embarrassing not being able to tell anyone why I had a bald spot because they’d all freak out

eriwyn: Thank you for this video and especially stressing that it's No Body's fault-- just to focus on getting rid of them!!! I battled lice on my 4 kids a few years ago-- and Yes, the best thing that killed them was suffocating with oil!

Stacy Thaxton: This is great information. As I just had to treat my daughter for lice. It's been my worst fear with her having very blonde and very long hair. I have treated with prescription strength shampoo a week ago. Went through her hair tonight and still found a handful of nits. So I may try this on the weekend.

Denyce Harper: Perfect timing! A family member has just caught lice! Thank you for stressing that it's not gross! Would baby oil work as well?

K truth: OMG!!!!!Mindy has a solution for every problem!!!!!

Aymee Robinson: What I do is: Buy rid shampoo, cover my hair and leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse. Drench my hair in cheap conditioner and comb with lice comb and rinse. DONE! It works every time!!

Kenzi Parrish: I love that y’all are SOOOO respectful and supportive

ashley bourgeois: Thank yoh so much for making this video!! I HATE how some people react to live in general. It happens and as you've said it's no one fault. I've also caught it as well as a child. I'm an even bigger fan of yours than before if at all possible!!

Baby BoomEm: 3/12 people in my family have lice and I am one of those, this was helpful and great thank you ❤

Sarahr98998: You're a better person than I am...I would have been like, sorry, not coming in my house.  I wouldn't risk it with all those kids!

chardvnnay: I had lice when I was like 4 or 5. It happens to everyone. I had to cut my hair to my shoulders and the comb made me cry so much. Its also embarrassing so if people owned up to it and were more open about it we wouldn't be as embarrassed

A Kayyy: I've had lice twice (once I had them for two weeks) and they definitely itch like CRAZY. It kinda feels like fire is continually crawling on your scalp. they itch more as adults than babies. also the adults (for me it was the two week old lice) are pretty big. They kinda looked like big gnats.

Ericka Tejada: When I was little i had such long hair down to my knees and i caught lice. Mayonnaise and nix, and rid treatments and combing wasn’t helping. I legit had lice for a month because it was so much hair my mom wanted to cut it already. Until one day my old Cuban neighbor came and he went to the gas station and bought a gallon of diesel. Killed the little bastards in minutes.

Leela Parrish: Pretty much everyone has said and including me has done so many treatments Mayo, RID, straight up dish soap (dawn), and I still keep getting it, not now tho, but all I had to do is watch the best hair stylists and great for tips, to get rid of it. Thank you really, but I've used this trick before and it worked for years I didn’t have lice for like 2,3 years maybe, until I got it again, but I only did it for a week tho so, really mindy thank you soooooo much for reminding me for the next time i get it, which I hope it’s never❤️

ting and gang: Awww! Poor girl! ❤️❤️ However, she lucky she has an awesome aunt who always is ready to help out, stays calm, and then teach others these awesome tips! Love you Mindy! And thx for this tutorial! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Jamilah_xo: I had my lice and my mom was shouting at me because she said my hair was dirty

Tiarna Bernal: I remember when I was in Grade one my mum got a head lice warning from my school so we did the usual routine and treated my hair with the usual head lice treatment. It was an overnight one and the next day when it was being washed out parts of my hair started falling out. I had gotten second degree burns all over my scalp and neck! All because they changed one ingredient in the product and hadn’t made a notice for it! The only good part is that I have never got head lice since then!!

Corissa Yost: I had lice once. Me and my mom went out and bought spray for the car, bombs for the house, and then the lice treatment. Not fun. Took hours. Had to wash everything when bombs were done going off. We got rid of them but it was soooo much work. Wish I would have seen/ known more about this. Great video!

Veronica Gallardo: This is going to be so helpful! I’ve had lice for over a year

Jennifer Buettner: My mom works with home lice removal service where they come to your home and treat you and screen you. They were the first home lice removal service to exist

Anna | 수지: OMG! I literally just found out that I have lice just a day after this video came out. I thought I was being superstitious at first but then this video came out and I knew I had lice. By the way, I found out for sure bc if you have a hair catcher/metal net in your shower then you can see the lice on the net. I am panicked. Thanks for the video though!

KJ: I’ve never had head lice. When it was going around in 4th grade, my mom never let me wash my hair and she sprayed tons of disgusting lice sprays in my hair. I never got lice. Thanks mom!❤️

jamie: Thanks you for helping me and not making me feel bad!I got lice a couple months ago I think.Im sad I didn’t get to watch this vid when I had lice. But this vid will help me if I get lice again! Thanks so much!

Jennifer Gilman: When I was younger along with my little sister, she got lice a couple times from nap time in pre-k and I got it a few years later, but my mom found out (after trying RID and it not working too well) that mayonnaise on your head, under a shower cap, for 8 hours works AMAZINGLY!!! Anytime either one of us would get it, we would do one treatment of mayo and they were completely gone. However, I do absolutely HATE mayo now, lol. Maybe that's why?? Lol. Just another idea for any moms out there who may be having this problem as well.

kaya347: A metal flea conb from the pet store works amazingly as a nit comb and might be easier to find.

Amber Handley: I had lice my freshman year of highschool and I was able to basically get rid of it within a week by taking the nit Combe through my hair every other night with a combination of teatree oil mixed with conditioner. I’ve also used this because I have naturally thick dry and frizzy hair and the teatree oil mixed into conditioner once every couple of weeks works magic on softening hair. My tip to avoid lice is teach your kids not to wear others hats. I know I got mine that way and had to learn that it wasn’t because I was dirty or that other person was dirty but our hair was clean and lice prefer clean hair

Vivian Urias: I really like how y’all dealt with this, when people find out you have lice they treat you like a diseased animal, but it’s true, it happens, you can’t prevent it.

Aurora: Best video ever. Taking the stigma away from having hair lice.

Anslee Reece: love you guys so much, Mindy. thank you for EVERYTHING! missing all of you a little extra these past few days. it’s so hard not see you guys in person everyday. maybe i can get together with y’all soon LOVE YOU ALL! ~Anslee

Tori Dls: We always combed our DRY hair with a metal lice comb then applied MAYO which we always SLEPT IN With A SHOWER CAP and washed out in the morning. (We'd repeat a comb through after our shower) It worked wonders and we always got compliments on how pretty our hair was haha.

Akela Martinez: mayonnaise also works great. it’s worked all the time for us when we have unfortunately gotten lice. that’s the go to, and it leaves your hair looking smooth and shiny. even if you don’t have lice you can use this as a hair ‘mask’

yaiza patiño: The oil tip its really good. When me and my sisters where little my mum used to do it with vinegar. She used to brush our hear and put it on the vinegar and leave it for 24h and the next day brush with the special things that remove them and then washed and then brush our hear again and if there is anything put vinegar again an then leave it fit another 24h and she use to do it at least the whole week.

Lily xo: I get lice al the time! I get it so much! Thank you for making this video it is very helpful! ❤️

sugondese: I’ve always wondered if there has ever been a lice wildfire in your family. Nice vid

jenny kim: thank you so much for making this video. recently i found out that my brother has pic and we have been trying everything we can to get rid of it and now we have a way. thank you sooo sooo very much!!!!

Hugh Mad Bro: My mom didn’t care & would send me to little girls houses who she knew had lice cause she knew the weekends I went with my dad he would have to deal with it or his wife’s kids would get infested ‍♀️ I was shamed my whole life for washing my hair daily & having lice more than a handful of times & everyone at school messed with me so it was a whole situation!

dougjana b: Also baby oil works as well! Also having lice doesn't always mean your dirty. If you know for a fact you are clean and your surroundings are also but you still get lice, it might just mean you might have just caught it from someone else

bella adams: #POWERHOUR Thank you so much for these helpful tips Mindy! I love you and your family so much! xoxoxo

Lily Grace Sturgess: There are 6 kids in my family, and 4 of which are girls who have long hair, so whenever we get lice, it takes literally forever to get rid of!

Allie 2000: I had lice in grade two...at least we think so. We use to have head check in school. With my hair being so blonde, it was very difficult to tell. Had to miss school for few days ago. Also remember going to an place to learn how to remove lice.

Ceara Bostick: My daughter got it once from a friends house and I freaked but I spent 8 hours and picked every single one by hand! It did the job and she’s been clean ever since!

Nora McNabb: There was a lice outbreak at my highschool. Apparently she had it since Summerschool (I was in ss with her) and it was February. It was DISGUSTING. and because I was a freshman and she was as well freshman were getting SLAMMED FOR IT.

Allison Gary: I got lice one time, I will forever be terrified of lice because it was hard to get rid of. It ruins the ends of my hair so I had to cut my super long down to below my waist hair to my shoulders, It was awful, I hope no one goes through what I went through.

Audrey Cousins: Hair conditioner works really well in place of olive oil and moisturises your hair at the same time!

Cirque d'Joy: I got lice a couple months ago for the first time ever. I have no idea where because I'm an adult and don't have school aged children. It was also the middle of the night, so I just flipped my head upside down, drenched my hair in olive oil, wrapped my head in a towel and went to bed.

Danielle: My best friend got lice when we were 16 and at that point in our friendship, I was there almost every day. I somehow never managed to never get lice. I bet I'll get it from my kids when I have them

Lily: this is definitely helpful! having lice probably sucks! thanks mindy

Eleanor Oakes-Rogers: I unfortunately have picked up lice three times... :/. Summer camp, school, etc. And I am also super duper allergic to them. Every time we had lice, we got a prescription shampoo, and then after that we used an all natural rosemary lice shampoo- and it works!! And we also dumped oil on my head- that works wonders!!

Florina Gurau: I had lice when I was in kindergarten, but I only had one that my hairstylist took out. She said that we should still do a treatment just to make sure but nothing else came out. The treatment was kinda painful tho.

Aym :): Tbh I got lice and my whole fam made me feel like absolute crap. My bro wants me to chop all of my hair off.

Staci Sandoval: I had lice twice growing up. It was awful! My mom would get out her bright lamp she used for sewing, sit me on the floor in front of her and manually search through my hair and actually pull out any strand of hair that had lice. And she also washed my hair with that lice shampoo. Just watching this video made my head itch.

Carrieanne Michelle: I only had it 2 times as a kid. My neighbors had them all the time. In school teacher sent to to get checked like everyone day for them for like a month even though I didn't have them anymore. I was bullied badly because of it

Meredith Roose: My younger brother and I constantly had lice throughout elementary school. My kindergarten teacher told my parents to use coconut shampoo because lice don’t like the smell of it. My mom made us use the coconut shampoo until almost 7th or 8th grade. As long as we used the shampoo, we didn’t get lice again.

Mikaela: I remember I got lice from spending the night at a friends house. Her mom was amazing and invited me over to help me get rid of it.

Deadpools Unicorn: Yup. It happens! Especially with so many kids being together in schools etc. parents have got to be responsible and take care of the situation asap.

Chelle Collins: This made my head itchy. I had lice a lot growing up. Poor family, and not great resources for getting it out. Plus, my hair is really fine and those nit combs didn’t work on me. My mom had to go through and pick everything out hair by hair. Anytime I hear about lice I get ptsd itchy

Radha Chaudhuri: I got lice when I was 9, and my dad and grandma both wanted me to shave my head and were ready to take me to the barbershop, but when my mom came home ( she was away for a week when I got lice), thankfully she saved me and I still have my waist length hair. Near death experience

Grace Bagby: My grandmother was a hairdresser and put mayonnaise in my hair for several hours when I had lice. I stopped seeing any traces of lice in a week.

Literally Larissa: If you haven’t already can u do a video on how (if possible) to treat head sore when combing and also to know how to tie up hair properly: so when you take your hair town it doesn’t hurt from where you tied it up. Thanks x

Marianne S.: Many people in our house have had lice we spray the hair with Listerine mouthwash and put a shower cap on to catch all of the dead bugs. I not sure if this is the best treatment but it is what worked for us

Emma Morris: i have really thick curly hair and ever since i was a child my mom put hairspray in my hair to keep the frizz down .. she also did it to prevent head lice and no one in our family has ever gotten it !! lice can’t stick to hairspray bc if it’s texture so putting that on for prevention is always a great hack ! i always make sure to wear extra hairspray when lice is spreading through school :))

Amelia Zidek: Is dish soap good for your hair? I love you Mindy always and forever I’m your biggest fan!

Krystal Bostic: This video is very helpful. We just discovered that my boyfriend's daughter has lice but her scalp is too sensitive to use OTC lice treatments. I will be trying this out tomorrow once I make a trip to the store to stock up on the oil. Fingers crossed that I don't get it as well, as I have thick, coarse, long curly hair and it would be a pain to have to delouse my hair. I've had lice on 3 separate occasions in my life and I truly do not wish to repeat the experience.

Shamoye Mowatt: Never gotten lice but if I get I will watch this video again. Thanks Mindy , you are doing an awesome job

Kabri Stone: I just got lice. It's so bad lol. Loved the video! ❤

Daniela Olinic: There was a lice infestation in my sister’s class 4 years ago and my mother flipped. She used such a toxic shampoo to get them out that it ruined my hair and my scalp. I used to have really long healty hair...

Kayla Grace: Very helpful video! Thank you ❤️

Mitcheel Lockheart: This was a huge help! I get lice every once in a while so thank you so much Mindy

Loes Gerrits: "Not just once, but twice" lol I must have had lice at least 8 times

Sofija G: I’ve had lice various times but I’ve never Had to do treatments for so long! I usually just put lice solution in my hair for 1 hour, wash out and then brush out with the lice brush and that’s basically It!

Sara Flayhan: Thanks for this video! I actually have a phobia of lice so this video is a good reference.

Monday’s with Meghan: I had lice and it was fine it took 2-3 days to treat and was really okay. It’s not as big as a deal as a lot of people make it to be. All u have to do is go to Walgreens and it’s not that hard

SrLouise: There is actually an easier way to do this (i have helped people delouse for decades (former hair stylist ... and no, we did not "treat" in salon). HEAT the olive oil, work thru thoroughly (you showed excellent technique for that :) ) Thne put disposable plastic cap on head (disposable shower cap will work). Heat towels in low oven ... Wrap head in very warm towel. Swap out as towel cools. do for at least an hour. Leave cap on hair overnight, shampoo out next day (initially use Dawn, then switch to kinder shampoo). Hair will feel like it has had the most incredible beauty treatment (it has). You don't have to repeat, unless you run into another contaminant down the line. works beautifully, and works on all hair types.

Neelangi Mehta: Once I got lice from someone In school when I was little and my mom did the same thing. Applying oil won't let the lice escape and it'll be easier for you to deal with lice and lice won't survive oil

Paulina Carranza: A couple of years ago one of my cousins had lice, her mother tried anti lice shampoos on her hair but they weren’t working. One of my aunts told my cousin’s mother to spread mayonnaise all over hair and scalp. As she was brushing my cousins hair with a comb similar that your sister used in this video, we could notice that lice were slipping off her hair!! Then she had to cover her head with a plastic bag for 4-5 hours. Her mom washed her hair with dish soap and shampoo. They did this for 3 days and lice disappeared.

нαl_тнє_ѕтαя: I have some info I'd like to share about lice for anyone that's unsure. Nits are the eggs, and they hatch into nymphs (I think that's how you spell it). They stick to the sting of hair where they hatched for about four days so that's why she was saying to treat your hair every three days. Nymphs cannot lay eggs. Lice can't jump, to catch lice you have to be in contact with that persons head or share a brush or something. Essential oils and mint spray help keep lice away. My classroom had a couch and someone got lice, but I had oils in my hair so I was good, and the last two years I didn't use it and I got lice about 5 times. It's not a lot of info, when I had lice as a kid I went to the doctors and they told me some stuff, i forgot most of it though We can all agree that lice is *THE WORST*

Heather Billy42: I’ve had lice once, when I think I was 11 (I’m now 29) My Mom put mayonnaise in my hair with a shower cap. Kept it in a cpl hours (this was summer, so Mayo plus heat is a great smell...) she also had me go in our hot tub and have my head in the water for awhile. Lice shampoo didn’t help me. I’ve heard tea tree oil works well. Use tea tree shampoo/conditioner. Had/have thick curly long(ish) hair.

Makayla Brannen: I was literally a magnet for head lice when I was younger I got it about twice a year for like 5 years it was bad but it’s all good I haven’t had it for about 3 years now

vanessa rosalas: i have lice right now and i had it ever since the beginning of the year last year and my mom tried everything but this time we are using the olive oil tip hopefully this works thnx mindy

Moviemakingy: My daughter had lice twice. Once in preschool and once before summer break (she was in 1st grade going to 2nd now) her teacher had it too and a few other kids. Her hair is down to her waist so it was really a pain to get rid of it. I used tea tree oils and coconut oils. And she slept with them as well. It really worked for us

Caitlin Butler: this was extremely helpful as although i am 21 years old i still for some unknown reason continue to get lice maybe every two months i find i have them and i am always using store brought remedies to get rid and they honestly don't really work at all i think i am definitely going to try olive oil and see how that works xxx

Adriana T: Yes my daughter brought them home and i have 5 kids so i totally went ape ! I used coconut oil and thank the lord that i got rid of them very easily. Having lice is terrible for the child. Growing up i had gotten it a few times. I had some friends whos mom didnt take care of the problem so my mother would be so mad that she got rid of it and i would bring it home again.

Maddie Nakhla: very helpful! thank you!! people in my family have had lice before, and, let me tell you, my mom was NOT a fan of that! now "lice" is a banned word in our house because it stresses my mom out. and she doesn't let us wear hats that people outside of the family have worn! it's good to know from your video that lice are not a gross thing and that it is not too difficult to remove. I will definitely show this video to my mom later when we get lice and don't know what to do!!

Cristine Aviles: I've found that taking your lice brush into the shower and brushing through it with conditioner in your head helps really well, they slide right off!

Ranga Thanuja: Love you you always know how to help through my hair problems...Even though I don’t have will do them to check if I do and I’ll try not to pass it ... Now people are probably like wouldn’t you itch right ???? But some the could be eggs and no actual lice .............❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you for the help Mindy

sophia rose04: No one in my family has had lice before but the other night I was washing my hair and found a bug in my scalp! Later we found out all 3 of my brothers and my cousin visiting had it it was probably from sharing pool towels!
