That'S the one: what's good everybody, it's your main girl, mel, professional hairstylist and curl specialist, and today we're gon na whip, your curls into a straight, not aggressively me. Now. This training is gon na, be for those who are beginning their curly hair journey or for those who are feeling a little bit lost in their curly hair journey. To put it simply, if you were to ask me what you can do to bring back your curls or what you can do to better style them for definition and long-lasting moisture, and this is what i would tell you, can i get it okay? Thank you very much. We are going to break this down into five easy steps, so without further ado, let's step into it shower is this way now for step. One we need to reset shampoo is the most important step and that doesn't just go for a curly hair routine, but any healthy hair routine. Now, if your shampoo is drying, then you're, probably not using the right shampoo, a good shampoo, won't strip your hair or make it feel really dry, even if it's meant to clarify this is going to be my fifth shampoo with this in a row. This is the new olaplex 4c clarifying shampoo and it is truly not drying on the hair. Do you need to use it every shampoo? No, i'm just being dramatic. I want to see if it would dry out my hair and i'm also obsessed with it guys it's worth it. It'S really good removes heavy metals, minerals, chlorine pollutants and product buildup, and it truly does not strip the hair. I i can't i can't make this up. I will be sharing some of my top product recommendations throughout this video, as well as in the description box below they will all be listed and linked there. So you can check it out if you feel so inclined and would like to learn more, we will be supplying you with several options. The right way to cleanse your hair is to shampoo your roots, focusing on your scalp really getting in there, but then bringing the product down all the way down there down to your ends. That'S right just a little bit if there's anything that curls hate it's extra weight, we already have gravity working against us, so this is to remove excess buildup. Additionally, you can get a haircut, but we won't go that far right now, let's move to the next step. Step two step: two is where we moisturize curly hair is commonly known to be dry, but conditioners are not all made. The same conditioners are treatments to the hair, and they can be very personal. You want to pick one that's going to treat your specific hairs needs here are some examples. If your hair is super dry and dull, using a conditioner that is very nourishing very moisturizing, perhaps a deep conditioner will help to deeply moisturize and add shine if your hair is limp and damaged, use, repairing conditioners with strengthening ingredients like proteins. These will help to fortify the hair if your hair is breaking and extra fragile, then use bond, building, conditioners and treatments. These will help to increase the tensile strength of your hair, making it less likely to break, and if your hair is super tangled, then using detangling conditioners will help you better manage your hairs and last, but certainly, not least, if your hair is color treated and you're. Looking to maintain that using a color mask as your conditioner slash treatment will keep your color rich. Look at that. That looks like chocolate nutella by the way. This is a custom mix. It'S i made. I just made a concoction. It'S a lot of different things. The job of any good conditioner is to supplement the hair with the protective coating of shine, nourishment softness and smoothing. They should make your hair both look and feel good, and you can customize how your hair looks depending on which treatment you choose to use. Based on your hair's personal needs, so make sure you have a good conversation with your curls to figure out what you're looking for out of your routine and, as a bonus note, always follow the instructions, especially when trying a new product all right. Next, we're moving into styling step three is to prep prepping. Your hair for styling really does start at step. One steps, one through three, really all fall under the prep category, but the third step would be applying a leave-in conditioner on your hair out of the shower. Now a great leave-in conditioner that is worth the money will give you detangling and add heat protection and uv protection. This is a trifecta. I really look for now. You want to gently comb this through your hair to make sure that every strand is coated and in the long run, this is going to give you better hair prepping. Your hair, like this, will make sure that your hair is smooth and tangle free so that you can properly apply your stylus on top without overusing and over applying your stylers, which is step four four. Four, we are ready to style now that you are set up for success with your prep. Styling includes shaping or manipulating the curls into their spiral shape by using your fingers, brushes, combs and dryers styling aids, aka styling products are always recommended to give you control, hold enhancement and longevity out of your curly hairstyle examples will include foams, enhancing lotions, curl, creams, gel And or mousse, if applying all of the above, you would apply in that order, but you can just choose one based on your hair's texture, especially since, after prepping our hair in step, three we've already applied a product that is moisturizing hair. That may not be very dry or doesn't need a lot of moisture because it may be easily weighed down, can skip right into a gel or a mousse or a foam to shape up their hair. Those would all be lighter options if you have finer hair, but if your hair is more dry using a cream or lotion will give you more moisturized hair. You want to apply all of these products on wet, slash, damp, hair and then don't touch it once your products are in and the curls are shaped up. You do not want to disturb the curl pattern until the hair is completely dry. That means minimal touching with your dirty little fingers. Did anyone watch cadet kelly, attend? Let'S do it. That'S that's the inspo here! That'S that was my childhood hillary. We love you. Instead of your fingers, you can use the bold diffuser attachment on your hair dryer to speed up the drying process. I have a whole other tutorial, video that you can watch for that next it'll be linked above and in the description box for you to view, but let's review, we won reset two treated three prepped. Why am i so intense? I felt like veins popping out of my skull and step four set and step number five is to finish it. We need to finish it in order to keep your style looking amazing. If, while watching this you're stressed about your hair, looking wet from, you know gels and stuff like that, well, it's because you shouldn't skip this last step. You can apply a first-hand serum that will add softness, shine and help block out humidity. Furthermore, overnight you can continue your success by sleeping on a satin pillowcase. Additionally, you may tuck your hair into a bonnet wrap it in a scarf slip on a buff or even just tie it in a loose ponytail on the top of your head. These will all make your mornings much easier and well that's five. Five! Oh my steps that you can do now for next steps. You can check out my refresh playlist. I have several videos there on how you can revamp your hair in the morning on day, two day, three restyling ideas and lots of different tutorials, and if this has been your first video with me, then i hope that you are subscribing every single week. We share more and more texture, tuesday tips, tutorials tricks, reviews and expert, science-based hair care advice from a professional. Please be aware of fear-mongering in the curly hair community, especially as you continue to do your research. I'Ve got to say it. The curly girl method is not all that you will not see me talking about it or promoting the methods on this channel. In fact, most of the time we are absolutely contradicting them them, as in the very strict and just unnecessary rules of the curly girl method. The methods you have learned here today are tried and true by me and nearly 650 000 other curly hair beings that are following me and it's worked so far, so you know i thank you. Thank you for joining me for being such a great sport. You are doing great sweetie. I am your main girl mel and i am out peace ready and, let's begin yeah, i don't want to break this. My fabulous little travel tripod. This thing goes so small. Take it with me when i'm traveling it's like six feet. It'S it's amazing, that's creepy! I don't want to do too much. You know. I just thought i just it's just for fun. Now, styling aids, aka styling products are always going to be recommended to give you long-lasting longevity, that's redundant and today we're gon na whip. Your curls back into shape, put everybody out of my spring. Okay.

Amanda Guido: ATTENTION!!! I salute u for the energy in this video

Ari Jay: Come for the hair, stay for the laughs . Mell always makes my Tuesday better . Never stop sharing the bloopers at the end. My fave part!

Mollie Swann: Thank you Mell— appreciate all the tips and reminders—there seems to be a lot of unhappy curly girls out there who are giving up—including myself—but once I watch your videos— I’m reinvigorated to style my curly silver hair!!

Protoxe: Lost in my curly hair journey is probably the most accurate description of the situation I've been in for the past months. I decided to grow my hair out and all the products I was using gradually started to fail on me and I don't seem to find stuff that works for me. I have a lot of kinky curls, curls turning more into waves, also they don't last that long anymore. Got no volume anymore meanwhile I sometimes needed to style in a certain way in order for my hair to not be as voluminous. Wet and dry frizz. I just can't figure out what my hair wants and it drives me nuts! :/

Dana Abrahamsen: Mel, I love how you're embracing your dark hair. I too have had to adjust to the fact that that my once blonde hair has darkened significantly and I just go with it now. I've been following your channel for a while now, but this was a great refresh/review for me too! I recommend your channel to every curly girl I meet.

Mickayla Dennis: Mell! Once again, swooping in with all the DEETS on the best routine ever for curly hairs. I've been a long-time fan of you and your seester, but I have recently been struggling with my hair. I just graduated from nursing school and started my career in a hospital. Finding ways to keep my curls out of my face but still show them off is very difficult for me. I use a lot of braids as my go-to for work, and my hair has been absolutely unmanageable, making me only want to braid it or pull it up in a bun so I don't have to worry about it. I'm struggling! I could use all the help I can get!

Anissa Collier: After recently finding your channel and binge watching your videos I put your methods to the test last weekend on my extremely curly hair and I was floored My curls have legitimately never looked better and I really have you to thank for that! Thank you so much for the great content! Sending love from Texas

Marilyn Bloechl: I needed this! Could you do this video with all drugstore products? ❤️ Love your content so much, without it my curls and life would be a disaster! Thank you for all the info and laughs you share

Steve Doria: Thank you, this is exactly what I wished for! My curls are slowly coming back (can get the bottom to curl really nice and my top half is so-so)

Lee Rivera: Always energetic, straight 2 the point, and so real!

Sophia Aloeristok: Its always good to refresh and go back to the basics ❤️❤️

garimaa: tysm for your amazingly informative videos! they are helping me a LOT on my curly hair journey. I've never been more happy with my hair.

Rasine Hamilton: I found your channel last month, I was definitely lost in the journey! Your methods have helped me loveeee my curls again and your method for refreshing has changed my life!!!

Ali F: Thank you for this! I’ve been feeling lost and have felt like giving up.

knock knock Landshark: I love when I get my curl pattern perfect after my shower then my baby just stares at my hair in astonishment and rips it out of its curl ❤️❤️

Khadija Nadiri: Yes! Excactly what i was looking for! I am a starter and i needed this hard!!!

Nice Girl Jenn: Yup! My hair looks great n has come a loooong way! Thanks Mel!

Fany Apartsev-Faibyshev: You saved me from the CG method. It didn't work for me and after understanding the chemical/physical properties of my hair I understand why. You gave me so much confidence in myself styling my hair. Love your videos.

RinaPlz: Mel not only gives us good hair content, but a comedy show at the same damn time yeeeeet

dorothy christina: Love you Mell.your are helping me a lot in my curly hair transition .keep adding the bloopers ..I love that too.

Katie: Love Texture Tuesdays ❤️❤️❤️ For any fellow Canadian curlies out there, I just tried the “Hey Curl Scrunching Jelly” by Noughty and it’s such a nice curl gel!! Plus it’s like $11

Joy2020: You are absolutely my favorite curly girl on YouTube. Info with humor...I totally need both

Katelyn: Thank you for this!! I’ve been so confused starting my journey because there’s so much information it’s overwhelming

Maureen Toomey: What beautiful editing!!! You girls did it again!! Thanks ✌️

Shannon Lafferty: I have wavy/loose curly hair and have been STRUGGLING. Everytime I have one good wash day it's followed by 2/3 awful refresh days and it's exhausting trying to stick with it because I love embracing my natural hair

Ronel Sorgenfrei: Mel just made my day! love it!

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Hair with Mel ... always fun and entertaining mixed with actual tips and knowledge

Angela G: I love the Olaplex No. 4 Shampoo so I think I will try the 4c as well especially since it got such a good review from my Mane Girl Mel. Thanks for another fun and informative video.

Jenifer Wrighte: I have been going out of my mind to find that Twist shampoo in Toronto. Tried the black bottle and my loose curls were too soft. But love your Videos!

Ruth Kuder: Love your goofiness! Oh, and all the helpful information too.

Alexandra Verseci: THATS WHAT I NEEDEEEEEED!!! I had enough of my hair(sad but true) i gave me 1 month to try again or to chop and u came across again!!!! MISS I CAN DO IT!I WILL DO IT !!

Veronica E. Soto: Hello my beautiful curly hair guru and Amanda! I love the military Mell . Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful . I love it!

Rebecca Hansson: I have watched a ton of curly video to understand what to do and I am still very much confused Like, walking out in the rain brings out my best curls (but only in the front). Using all the styling product types you mentioned (cream, gel, oil - the oil is the only thing my hair likes) makes my hair look SO MUCH WORSE(it doesn’t good and it definitely doesn’t feel good) compared to if I were to use nothing (if don’t use any products it has a wave) and blow drying doesn’t really help either. Plus I have to wear my hair up everyday for work because of safety reasons so the motivation to actually try to “bring the curls out” is not very high. I like your videos even though I feel confused

Kamilah Yaretzi: this is why you're so awesome:( This is my first comment on your channel! I'm a young teen, and have grew up with people having looser textures while mine is like yours naturally but I we never took of it as it is, so I didn't know how nor did I have a guidance. Now I have a guidance which is you. I'm glad you give choices for in budget and for beginners, as well as to putting in thought like weather! It feels I have a spot to talk about my hair and on where I can get advice as too what is needed, recommended, and of good use. I'm just glad I found you! you're a great help, and I wish for your channel to grow further more! Thank you Mell!!

Nahomi Bosse: I’m moving to the Toronto area this week!! I’ve seen multiple videos on TikTok commenting on the hard water in the area. Do you recommend the shower head you’re using? It’s a water filter right? If so, could you share the link?

Hailey Sells: I come for the curly hair tips lol I stay for the bloopers! Hahaha they are giving! Giving me life that is!!

Sanvi Gajula: Hey mell I am a 15 year old who wants to start her curly journey but whatever I do I am not able to get my dry flakes in control and that's why I have given up on my curly journey They reappear after 9 hours on my wash day and it has made me depressed cause it's been 5-6 months I am currently using tresemme nourish and replenish olive oil and camelia oil shampoo nothing else

Gabbi McHenry: I’ve been on my curly journey since 2020. They’re hitting a plateau. I have thin wavy hair. I find my curl clumps clump a lot together to where a lot of my scalp is exposed which in turn, makes it look thinner. And I can NOT get volume! HAAAAAALP!

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! The best day!!Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

dagnolia: having a bad day, you turned it around! thank you! ,,

Lyana Gonzalez: This video is so fun and so needed , people ask me all the time how to style their curls but i do so much idk how to explain them so i reffer them to your channel and now i will be reffering em to this vid

Teresa Davis: I like how you made your own concoction. I do the same thank you for this video

roza kaya: Could you please do a video for colour damaged hair(drugstore edition + olaplex?)

daphne715bu: @manesbymel giving me and my curls life. Thank you

Janna Piltie: Thank you. You have a few detangling brushes in your Amazon Storefront. Which works you recommend for 3C?

Brandy Foster: What if your hair is dry, dull and damaged and breaks easily? Can you use all 3 treatment/conditioners and alternate uses? How often would you recommended to use them in a week, once each? Pleaseeeee.

Torix Capri: Im top 10pand thank you so much for this advice✨

Krysta DeMilio: The problem isn't the routine! It's finding the right products so frustrating!

Karlina Cabrera: Excellent, as always, seesters! I always look forward to texture Tuesdays

X R: I need that crunch in my hair but i also need moisture cos my hair dries fast, but every time I use cream and gel, the curls come out nice but i dont get that crunch and it doesn't last long

Kendall Butcher: Can you please post how you part your hair and what haircut to get? I’m really struggling. I have very flat roots but I have very long hair that goes all the way down my back. It gets curlier the farther down it goes. I know layers help but I don’t know what to ask for. Could you give some tips on what styling brushes to use? I normally shampoo and condition. Then go in with a nym curl talk leave in conditioner, nym curl talk defining cream, nym curl talk frizz control gel, nym curl talk moose, and then I diffuse and scrunch out the crunch. I have problems with making the roots and the underneath part of my hair defined. The underneath is always tangled. I also have absolutely no idea what to do to refresh my hair. It always ends up looking like a mess. I need help finding a way to refresh my curls and make them last. My hair looks very oily only on day 2 hair! I live in a very very humid area and I am very limited with hair tools and products. But I am willing to try something new! I know these are a lot of questions but it you could help me I would really appreciate it!!!

amber barnes: Can you do a video on using the same exact products for one month so we can see the product working overtime?

Jessica Harmer: What kind of color mask do you recommend for purple hair? I only shampoo once a week and I feel like so much color comes out and I want to help maintain it for longer. Thanks!

Karol Velandia: Thank you for this!

JoAnne Hutt: Is it okay to use a shampoo and conditioner that isnt stated on bottle for curly hair?! I recently tried Redken so soft shampoo/conditioner and my hair looks and feels so soft and moisturized id love to keep using it. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Crystal V: Can anyone recommend a light leave in that doesn’t have aloe or coconut?

luckyDancer100: Hey Mell, can you make a video on good drugstore shampoos? I have 2a/2b hair & wash daily for dandruff/sebderm control but it seems to be breaking lately. My shampoo says its good for daily use- it’s the whole blends stuff. Am I doing something wrong?

Jewel Denile: Great! I am at critical mass with hair products yet I am gonna get that new Olaplex. I have dreaded hard water. Ok…off to find room for it

Britt Guerre-Aguilar: Great video!

Bree: HI!! What do you think it the best shampoo and conditioner for curls? I am looking for a standard go-to shampoo and conditioner. (my curls are 3b/3c) Thanks!! Love love your videos!

Bailee Huckleberry: I have curly hair as well as vivid hair haircolor and im always unsure what shampoos I should be using, when my hair is freshly colored I use matrix keep me vivid shampoo but im unsure if it cleanses properly enough to remove all my buildup but clarifying shampoo would just strip all my color out, what tips would you recommend?

Andrea Smith: is consistency that important? I just struggle with styling everytime i wash and i do not know if thats why my hair is not improving anymore. pls help

♡Antonio♡: I had shoulder length 3c curls (unstretched) and I just cut it all off. Mel pls Waiting for it to grow back, until then, im gonna save this video
