So how is everybody doing? I feel like? I was talking quite a bit: it's already six minutes, so um, okay. What is the congratulations? Oh, is that for me, oh yeah. Thank you. Oh is that for the million views yeah well, there is a little delay, um from when i say something to when you guys actually hear it and so um. I didn't put two and two together: oh well, it's entertaining anytime watching this channel right. Okay, all right! So we're gon na jump into um our diy tonight. It really is sort of a dollar tree diy, but i want to upcycle a journal from dollar tree and if you saw my haul, you saw that i purchased this journal um. It is 50 pages and you can see right here. Oh lori, thank you, congrats, oh yeah! Isn'T that the coolest thing? Thank you so much. So what lori's sharing is a super chat and um appreciate you lori! Thank you soon. You are amazing friend too um. So my friend from washington, i have a couple of friends from washington, actually have several um, but anyway uh this journal is from dollar tree, it's 50 pages and you know what it's okay, just the way that it is. But i thought well, why not upcycle it do a little makeover on it: hi trish another friend from washington um, and i'm going to use my master board that i created this one to cover it now. Um, if you saw in may we did a master board tag challenge. If you don't know what a master board is, i have a ton of videos um on it, uh well, a ton. Probably at least you know, between five and ten - that's a ton anyway and um, but we're going to do another one matter of fact: i'm getting ready to start promoting it this week, if not tomorrow and um, and so we're going to make a master board and Then you're going to cut out tags and then you'll send them to me. So i will um promote that the video will come out. Probably tomorrow, i think or wednesday, but probably tomorrow, and one thing that i like to do, which not everybody does. But one thing that i like to do is scan my master board and if i scan it then i have it really basically forever i mean i don't have the actual one if i cut it up, but if i scan it, i have one that's just like It and it has the same beautiful, look to it. It'S my creation, and so i can use this in all my crafting that i want to so. What i want to do is take this master board in the scanned version and i'm going to cut it to cover this journal and we're gon na we're. Gon na add to this journal and because it's green, i'm not going to cover the back, but i feel like that this color scheme here this vintage look actually goes with the green pretty well now, if i want to make it more vintage all i have to Do is vintage eyes it, and how do you do that? I use my ink pads and my blending tool and a lot of times it's a homemade one and i'm looking for my ink pad real quick, and this is what i like to use a brown color. You can use any distress ink that you like, or any color that you like, but i'm going to use this brown cocoa. It is there we go. It is from well used from ranger. This is just one i used for this uh from tuesday morning that i bought a long time ago. Homemade vengeance homemade tool to um to spread the color. So let me just grab. Let me grab this one, so i'm just going to use it's just a pill bottle with a felt tip from dollar tree. You can buy packets of them. I have a bunch in there. I don't even remember how many, but you know it doesn't, cost you very much um. So what we're going to do? I'M going to put the camera down here on my table so that you can see we're going to we're going to create a really cool. Looking journal and have some fun tonight with it, so this is the the master board that i had created now i want to cut it to fit here and just inside i don't know if you can really see but where it folds right here i don't want To go over that fold right because when you open and close and open and close hi rochelle, so i want to measure it. I'M just going to take out my ruler and measure what that size would be, and this is six and three quarters across, and this is about 10 inches. So i want to go a little bit smaller than that. So i'm going to cut it about um nine and i don't know we'll see, we'll see what size looks good on there all right. So let me get my i'm just going to get this trimmer that i have here, and the first thing i need to do is decide where i want um to cut off this. This uh picture. Okay, so i do want the bird, so i'm gon na cut on this side and i don't want any of that white. So i i wanted um, six and three quarters. Is that what i said? Yes, so i'm gon na go a little bit to seven so that i can cut off any white here and then i'm going to take it on this side. And i want to go to six and three quarters, and that will be good. And so since this is a scanned image, even if i make a mistake, i can change it up all right, so that looks like it will. It needs a little bit more. I think off, let's see another quarter of an inch, i think so, let's do. Let'S do another quarter so right now we're at about six and three quarters. So let's go six and a half there. We go and let's see how that fits, and if it's not quite exactly right, it's okay, but i don't want it to get in that fold. Right all right, so i said that this book was about 10 inches, exactly really so. What i want to do is i want to cut off um now. This was an eight and a half by eleven piece of paper, so i'm gon na cut off about um a quarter of an inch here and then we're gon na go and walk it back. I think nine and three quarters would be good, but i don't want to cut too much off so we're just gon na start with ten and that looks so nice and make sure all right. So, let's look at that, so i do think i could come up with the nine and nine and three quarters, but you know how, if you cut it and then you cut too much you're, just like. Oh no, of course i am excited that this is saved forever and i don't have to worry about um losing it all right. So that's going to look so nice on there all right, so i'm going to move this trimmer for the moment and let's look at this so here is where my image is going to go on my sheet. You can see a little bit of the green and i really don't mind that too much, but i do want to make sure that when i open it, i'm not crimping that right. I don't want to have anything working on that all right. So what i want to do, even though um this one, i had gone over the edges when i created it, i am going to add a little more of the color to this um to the edge. Let me put down a piece of paper. I really want to get that on there all right. This is more for your glue gun and i just don't want to get a bunch of ink on it all right now. If you remember, this was used making some scraps from a paper pad that i had and also ephemera from casey and company. So if you were on any of those um videos, you saw how i put this together, which was so totally fun to put together all right. So so there we go. It just defines the edges a little bit more. So one thing, though, that i like to do also is add some some ribbon or something to this page. So, instead of adding it under i'm going to add it on top and if any of you do create junk journals, you know adding ribbon and all that is um pretty standard. You know that's what you do now, i'm using colal glue, because i like the way that it glues down without soaking into the papers. You can use tacky glue or tombow aqua glue. You can use whichever glues that you like, but i do encourage you to use a liquid glue just because it allows you to really adhere well and then it will also allow you to adjust, as you put it down as you put your image down, and then You can, you know, rub it into place now. This is pretty all by itself. I'Ll tell you i keep rubbing here. It looks like there's something on there, but it's really not it's just part of the image all right. So i really like that. It looks very nice when i go to open i'm not going to run into into any problems with my image and my cover now another thing that i want to do with this journal. I don't want to just put that on there by itself. I want to dress it up a little bit. I have a doily here. This is some floral garden ribbon that i found at dollar tree in texas. This is really cool, and i want to show it to you. It almost to me lends to like a um like a i don't know almost like a nest, it's just so pretty, and so i really want to use that somehow um, whether it's across or up and down, just to add a little bit to it. I know if you can't see it too. Well, i'm going to zoom in just a little bit to see if you can see and it's just really a light look yeah. So i'm going to thank you pam, i'm just going to cut this here. I'M going to snip it across and instead of having to glue everything on here with tacky glue, i am going to use my dotty pen and what this does is allows me to put glue on the places here that are um. You know like all these little lines and threads and everything without having to um, you know, get glue all over myself and then it doesn't leave um strings in between all these. So that's what i'm going to use use that a lot on die cut things. So i'm just going to add this here. I think that looks pretty cool. I can't really see it that much because it's not very light dark, hi, diane all right now. Another thing that you could add always is a doily. This is not a paper doily. This is an actual cloth doily. If you wanted to one thing that you could do is add. You know to your um your paper around the front of it, and i do like that. But before i do, i really think i want to add something here. Let me just zoom back out, and i don't know if i have have a paper that i want to use. Let me see i have one right here, so i have some vintage diary paper and it's really pretty paper and um. So we'll just take one of these sheets. I have a couple of paper pads of these, so i'm just gon na take one of these sheets to be the inside cover of both drop, something all right. So this has some pretty pretty papers in here, and this is great right here this with the green or even here that is pretty okay, we'll go with this one. Let'S add a little color with that, and so we'll need to get um the trimmer back out, while that's drying, and i'm just going to cut this side here. So i need it to be nine and three quarters by six and three quarters, i think, is what it was. We'Re going to start with that. Okay, now always save your scraps, you did yes, i'm cursing washi, that's awesome. I'Ve never seen it. That is cool all right. So, let's, let's vintageize this a little bit it's my term. I don't know if anybody else uses that term or not, but i do because that's what i'm doing, i'm vintagizing it giving it a little vintage look just make it um a little stand out, and i like the browns, because it really makes it look old, crocheted Washi that i have not seen now, i've seen washi all right, and this is double-sided paper too. It'S really really pretty all right. I think that's going to fit perfectly in here. I just want to make sure that it goes inside. It looks like i am a quarter of an inch off, so let me cut this quarter of an inch off see when we're live. You do have to see all the things that i would cut out. Normally so, but live you get to see it all. So, let's go back over this one more time on this side. Okay, so where was it in an auction? That'S awesome, crochet, washing! I have to watch for that. I have to look look it up. Did it say what brand it was? Okay, so here we go. This will look so pretty in here and i'm not taking it all the way. So i what i want to do is i'm gon na i'm gon na put some of this brown around it. So what i'm going to do is take my hat on my paper and i want to go over this and i'm gon na do it at the top and around now i love junk journals if you've seen any of my junk journals. Those are super fun to make. They are really cool in the fact that you get to take things. You have and create something special yeah all right. So now i'm going to take this and see how that just makes a difference with that or it just blends it in all right. So now i'm going to glue this down and do any of you ever create journals or anything um or take old, um notebooks and create a journals for them or with them it just it. Just is totally different. Look all right now! Another thing you can do is you can just leave this all open or you can decorate it? No packaging, okay, amazon is selling it. Look at you, rochelle, telling us all all right. So now that i have covered the inside, i can take my doily. If i want to - and i can cover both sides like this - i feel like this doily is a little bit big though so i might not want to do that. I do kind of like it part of the way, so i might just trim it. What do you guys think so? Let'S just trim this doily and you know what it doesn't have to be perfect, because why i'm not trying to be perfect right? Okay - so we can put this on here now like this, and i am going to use tacky glue for that, but whenever you're creating just play with it prime day prime day, when is prime day, i am out of touch with it. Now i know hsn craft day is tomorrow. I know that there's going to be a lot of fun christmas stuff out, i did check. There is no um mention of the advent calendar. Yet i haven't wanted to buy anything from hsn because i haven't been able to successfully log in other than um on my phone with a cellular only which makes no sense whatsoever, so that's never been fixed and um. I have been getting my auto ships, so my account is still good and i pay my bill um. I have flex pay so there's a few things on flex pay that i'm paying off, but i just am buying direct all right. So i do like that. You guys think of that doily on there now this looks like it is ephemera like it's standing up. It is a firm robot. It'S the picture supposed to have huge sales awesome, the 12th and the 13th. All right. It'S good to know somebody right, okay! So anyway, you can do that. Then, if you want to um, you can add, like a charm, a tassel, you can add anything that you want. I mean it is just a regular journal, so you don't have everything, but even if you wanted to you could cover this side too, you could just take um, you know pieces and you know add what you want kind of like our master boards or you could Just take another sheet, i mean i do have some more sheets. Let'S see, this is a beautiful papers by the way these are beautiful. Let'S just do this one, since it's in the back, do any of you have this paper pad vintage diaries? Okay, it's been horribly slow. Really, oh goodness, it's hard, isn't it well! I know that you know when you only buy what you have to you know. It is hard so nine and three quarters - and i want this this side. I can't see this side well. I still listened and there we go. Let'S pull it out, just a little bit all right and then we're gon na do um, six and three quarters all right. Okay, so we're going to set that aside again vintage eyes, but you could make any kind of journal like this for friends um, you could theme it out like this one's generally, just um vintage really, but because the papers are already in there, i wouldn't um paint Them or anything like that, but you could, you could add, you know papers to it and stuff. You just don't want to go too too um too much, because you don't want your journal to bust at the seams right. Okay, so let me go another quarter. Okay, there we go and we'll put that on again um, because we are um on live. You get to see all the things that i cut out and any bloopers, and that happens occasionally all right. Okay. So i'm going to glue this down in the back, because you know it just doesn't seem finished without something in the back. Okay, all right! So let's put this one down, i'm bringing it all the way to the edge. I did not um vintage eyes this, yet so let's do that. I'M kind of doing it out of sequence, but that's okay and let's go here - and here i just want some color, so it isn't like a staunch white. You guys are so cute talking about all kinds of stuff, i don't even know all right, so there we are now. If i wanted to bring inside the doily. I could do that and i might do it um part of the way. So, let's just cut it yep, you don't have to use the whole thing the way it's designed. Okay. So, let's take let's take this tacky glue and put it on the doily and i'm just gon na put it on um to go on the inside, because i like that, look and it will stick really good. Okay, all right, so i'm gon na bring that same. Look to the inside that i have on the outside and i want to make sure i get it in about the same place. So i want to make sure i'm showing you it doesn't have to be exact, but that way you can see now that's going to dry, pretty quick and i still have some doily left over. If i want to use it for something else and of course i have papers left over and everything, but i have ephemera here um, you can't see it, but all right in front of me have all kinds of fun old, vintage, stuff um. So then here's my my front of my journal now you could put any kind of little label or anything on there. If you want to to name it. Let me see i have some. I think, let's see if you wanted to. I think these are too big, but i'll show you what you can do so tim holtz and seven gypsies in vintage market have these cool little um, they're frames or trinkets that you can like put on the front of your journal so like if you wanted to Take something like this: you could put it on your journal and you could use a brad to put it down and then you could put a label in there to be whatever you wanted it to be so like. If i wanted to do that. Let me take this off. Let me see if i can get this off without too much trouble. Take that jump ring, i'm just giving you guys some ideas. Do you make a journal out of a spiral yeah? You can make a journal out of a spiral. You can make a journal out of a cracker box. You can make a journal out of a book. You can, you know, take the insides out. You can make a journal out of a little notebook from dollar tree all kinds of fun, stuff that you can do. Um to create your journal, so let me see, let's see, i need a brag one second folks, trying to find my grads really hadn't planned on going this far, but it's okay, all right so um here are some little brads that you can get that are the Old kind: here's some more frames, you can use um like this, and then you can put your paper in there to um. You know label it. You can use this one here, which i'm probably just going to go with that for now, but um. If you use brads, then you can um. Let'S see that one's kind of big you can just poke it through your papers. Now one thing that i didn't do was because i covered my inside already um. I will see the brad, so i'm going to have to cover that up on the inside. If i hadn't put my paper already - which i hadn't really planned to do this, but it's okay, i mean we can change things up right, okay, so what time are we getting to here, trying to watch the time? Okay, we'll just finish this up: we're going to decorate a couple pages, so you can see all right. So you have to decide where you want your little frame. Um go in the front of your page, and so what i like to use is an awl to poke my holes through. So i've got one right here and all right here, you can mark it. Let'S see the charms would be great for making a bookmark. Yes totally, my mom was a crocheter, oh yeah, okay, all right! So what i'm gon na do is i'm gon na. Usually i use a book underneath and i'm not gon na. Do it um, so i'm just gon na mark it where i want this to go. So we'll just mark it here and here see. If i can see it, i don't know if i can see it actually, all right, so we're just gon na have to go with it um. So i'm just gon na put my all through and then i'm gon na go on this side. Let'S see if i got it even pretty. Even i think. Okay, all right, so i'm not going through a bun a big, hard thing, but you can see that i've got two holes there. So what i do like to do with brads, though, is make sure that i have some glue on them. So you do want to glue them just because it helps them to stay, so i'm just going to put a little dab of glue just a little bit oop, not that much and i'll put some on this side all right. Now i'm going to take this and stick both of them through at the same time, because i am having trouble actually seeing my holes there, he goes one and where is that other one? Okay, there's the one and then this one is right there. Okay! So once you get your your brads through you're gon na want to spread them and glue them here. So since i don't have um since i already put my paper down here, i want to cover that right. So i need to cover that with something. So, let's get um a little piece of ephemera or something cute that would go there like a flower or something that would fit with this look, let's see, i have a ton of things here at my disposal put that emit one. Let'S just do that all right. So i'm gon na take my vintage izing ink and go over my little ticket here. A little distressed look and i'm actually going to put this on a little catty corner, look and turn this a little bit. So you can see my brads are sticking out a little bit, so i want to make sure they have glue on them and then we're gon na just fold that down this is gon na, have to glue down pretty good and might put another one where's. The other one add another one and drop it does um see it where'd the ticket go well. I had two in my hand, i don't know what happened to it. I won't have to look for that. There we go all right. Okay,

Nettie Letkeman: I'm watching the replay. Congratulations on the views Cindy
