What'S up YouTube welcome back to my channel, my name is Chauncey and if you weren't here feel free to subscribe today we are going to be doing just the quickest easiest tutorial, but we're just gon na do a really quick tutorial on how to do a messy Topknot and like a half up top, not not all of your hair, just a half up, half down messy top, not one of my best friends. Charles E has been like asking me so many questions about how I do this and then I had another client ask to see a video as well, so we're gon na. Do it. It'S super easy, okay, so things you will need um, some bobby pins. Just a couple hope I don't need more than this cuz. I can't find any more than this, so it's good it's gon na get and then okay, so, depending on the length of your hair, if you have shorter hair, like mine or even shorter than mine, use a teeny, tiny little rubber band like this, I know using Them because they break your hair, but I find something less bulky: a thinner band works best on shorter hair, but if you have longer hair like mid length and longer, you can totally just use a regular ponytail holder. So half of doing this style is figuring out. Your bun to hair ratio - and I cannot do that for you, because that is entirely based on your face - shape and how you're comfortable seeing yourself. So if you're like me - and you like a little bit more like volume around your face, then you're going to want to use less hair in your top knot. Whereas, if you are someone who doesn't care as much about the volume around your face, you can do a lot more pulled back into your top knots, and that sounds like something that might be hard to figure out. But truly, if you just play around in the mirror, pretty quickly you'll be able to tell how much hair you like in your top knot versus how much you like down. So I already went ahead and prepped my hair. I have a video on this that I will pop up in the corner. You'Ll see a little I pop up. If you want to watch how I do my like beachy waves on my short hair hair is prepped and ready to go. I will say my hair: it's super clean right now and I usually find that this works best for me on like day two or three or even four so bear with me. If it's not cooperating perfectly, I should kind of sad to put in a topknot cuz. I feel like I'm having like a great hair day today, but anyways. Let'S get let's get started, so I take my little rubber band and, like I said I like more volume around my face, I like more hair down around my face, so I take a pretty small top knot. Chené sexual and see I'm just kind of like playing with that making sure I like the way that this is all sitting yeah. I think that's good. I think that's enough. I might take a little bit more down right here, yeah cuz. I want to see a little bit more around my temples right there. I feel, like I'm like a little bit thinner than right tables, okay, and also when I'm pulling up this hair. I don't go completely to the back here, because I have a weird cowlick that splits in the back and I don't want to have like a weird, bald spot. That also is entirely up to you as to how much hair you want to pull back. So I leave just a little bit down back there to kind of cover up my calyx and things so yeah just pull that up and then back just a little bit and I'm gon na make a ponytail and look like a troll doll. And I'm not worrying about making this super smooth, you can, if you like your hair, a little bit smoother through the front. I don't I like bumps and stuff in there, because it gives me a little bit of volume and actually now that I have this in a ponytail, I'm gon na kind of pull some of these front pieces out, so they have more like volume and they're. Not so perfect and a little bit more like messy looking, it's have a little bit of a pouf going on and don't get discouraged. This might be something that you have to play with a little bit until you get the way that it's sitting right and that's totally normal hair is not like one size fits all just because you do it like. I tell you to doesn't mean it's gon na. Look exactly perfect on the first try. So if you need to like take your pony out and redo it, do it as many times as you need to okay. So now, you're gon na pull your pony straight up like this, and at this point, if you feel like your hair, is pretty like soft and you need a little bit more texture, you just spray some texturizing spray into your pony tail or use some hairspray or Anything like that, like the Tresemme hairspray, that I love totally works, but mine already has some product in there. So I'm going to pull it straight up and then I'm gon na use my fingers like a comb and just backcomb it a little bit like just literally pull it down and kind of make like cotton, candy texture with my hair. Basically, I am ratting up my hair. Just a little bit make sure make sure and you don't want to make it like too too naughty. But you know so you got some, so you got some texture to work with up there and then you are literally going to wrap this like you would have been so literally just twist it like you would like if you were just going to twist your hair Into like a ballerina bun and then pull it into a little bun on top of your head and then I just secure that with a couple of bobby pins and all of the teasing that you do in there, especially for short, haired girls. Like me, um back combing it like that with your hands, because we have shorter hair you're gon na have more like random pieces that want to like stick out and get crazy on you back combing it like that, keeps that from doing it. So the back combing that we did helps with random pieces just flying out in any direction and then from there you can kind of just shape it and play with it. How you want - and you can kind of pull it apart and make it like bigger or Messier or, however, you want to do it and your bun, just like I was talking about before, don't get so focused on like how perfect it is, or anything like that. If you don't like the way, it's looking take out the two bobby pins and redo it again like just play with it until you get it right and you will eventually so if you're not loving your button, the first time you do it just take it out. Put a little bit more backcomb in it or do whatever you need to do and then twist it up again and see if you like it better, you just play with it until you get it where you want it like ooh, that's a good one. I can already tell - and I am putting this bun like not right at the back of my head but kind of like in the center, but once again that's a preferencing and that's just what you like to see when you look in the mirror, if you're looking At me, right now and you're like oh, I want it more forward. Then you put your ponytail more forward as opposed to more back and I like how it's got like little sprigs hanging off and that's not anything. I planned. That'S just like when you do your hair like this. Sometimes you get, you know random little pieces and they work for you so yeah just about playing with what you got alright guys. That was super easy that completes this tutorial. This is how I do my messy top knot. You could do this on long hair. You can do this on short hair. You can do it on medium hair, whatever same technique works all different ways. Yeah, it's just a matter of practice. People ask me so often, because I am a hair stylist how to achieve certain things on their hair, and I can show you the technique, but ultimately, in the long run you have to practice it. It'S just like any other skill. It'S like makeup: if you want to excel at it, you just have to try a little bit every day and I promise. I know you don't believe me. You say like. Oh, I can't do hair. Oh, I can't do makeup. No, that is you absolutely. Can you just have to practice at it and I swear you'll get good at it. I promise it's like if you just try everyday you'll, get it um, so yeah. I think this looks super cute. Let me know if you guys have any other hair tutorial requests. I would love to do them comment down below what you want to see. Thank you so much for watching. Please subscribe if you are not already. If you want to no pressure, no big deal I'll, see you in my next video you buy e
