Hey everyone kaley, your friendly neighborhood hair stylist here today we're doing some summer hairstyles, because again i am determined to enjoy summer. Let'S get into this, so i mean summer's gon na look different this year we still have to social distance. You still have to wear a mask. We still need to be considerate of other people and all of our health, but you can still style your hair too. So, even if you're not going to a massive pool party or the beach or whatever, you can still have a good time with your hair, no matter what you actually do end up doing so i thought it would be fun just to get some summer vibes out There give you guys some new hairstyles to try out we're gon na be doing it on short and long hair. I'M excited, i think we should just get into it. Let'S go alrighty for our first hairstyle we're doing this. Like little braided ear tuck moment, i've been seeing this kind of thing on tick tock and i love it. So first things: first, i'm going to start with the center part hypothetically. You could do this with like a mild side part, but i like it with sister part. Now you can do this with any braid that you want to i'm going to do a little french rope, braid first things. First, let's section the hair: this is what i'm braiding. This is what i'm not gon na clip this out of the way. All right, then you take your little section and you're gon na start a rope, braid rope. Braids are one of the easiest. Just put your hair into two twist towards your face, wrap away twist towards wrap away and once you've got it started. You just start picking up a little piece and adding it to the front section, and then you go back to doing what you were doing. You twist and wrap pick up a little piece twist and wrap and you just keep going and then you just switch back to twist and wrap till you get to the end. And then you can secure it with a bobby pin because we're just gon na temporarily hold it at the end, all right, and now i'm just gon na very gently loosen this up. It'S not supposed to be a big fluffy, pancake braid, but i always like to let the braid breathe just a little bit alrighty and then we're going to do the same thing on the other side just going to match this section. For me, this is basically everything in front of my ear and laura was pointing out to me that this could actually be a really good hairstyle for curly. Girls, too, just helps keep your hair out of your face, but still lets the rest of your hair live and not get disturbed, and especially, if you have like a really dense hairline, it helps to just everything back also, if you have a dense, hairline, hi how's, It feel to be god's, favorite, here's a fun little tip to make these braids easier. When you pick up your new section, you technically only have to twist this piece of hair and then you can wrap away, but it can just make it a little bit quicker and a little bit easier. So you don't have to think about both hands. You just have to think about the one up here and then this one back here is basically just you know, kind of like a holding section, and that can also be true when you're just doing it as like a normal braid see you can just twist and Take twist and switch twist and switch so that's easier for you, then we're holding our place with bobby, pin and giving it some air, and that's the second braid now. The only thing we have left is to bring the ends of these braids together and we're going to do that at the nape of the neck. So i'm just going to clip this stuff up and out of the way for a second and then you're gon na tuck, these little guys behind your ear, bring them to the back and secure it with an elastic. It doesn't quite reach, because mine barely does you can just bobby, pin it really well right behind here or use a snap clip if that's easier, all right, so you can see. Mine is just the tiniest nubbin and i don't quite trust it. So i'm also going to use this type to demonstrate this little snap clip. So thank you, anna. So, if you're using a snap clip, you would literally just get your hair wherever you can behind the ear. Stick it in there snap it down with a bobby pin. It'S basically the same thing you just want to pin up and into the twist, then we take it down and it's done. Yeah wow, it's super bohemian and cute and like way to keep your hair out of your face during the summer. I was honestly a little bit afraid of this one, exposing my hairline, but i feel like it's really cute. I love this and i also think i would love this at the beach or the pool properly socially distanced, with all precautions taken. I am pumped for this. One, oh my gosh with my dark hair. I can see nothing now. I almost split it into three starting off strong, so i don't really want this to go fully behind my ear, because i know that tension is going to make my ears really poke out to the front and then probably get in the way of this hair when It falls down, so i'm just gon na take it back over the top of my ear when i tighten it and that way, the hair will all fall in a straight line. Now repeat the same thing on the other side, all right, i'm gon na take these. Like i said over the top of my ears, i'm definitely gon na do the elastic method, and here we go. Oh my gosh, so cute, oh, look at you and the tendrils were a great idea. My ear tendrils out, my name is kaylee melissa and i support the ear tendrils. Oh i love this now for our next hairstyle. I wanted to use a scarf here's. The deal scarves super easy super cute, a quick upcycle for any hairdo. So i'm going to be using this vintage scarf that i already have and love i've got it folded into a triangle. First things: first you're just going to plop it on your head, a little bit back from your hairline. Basically, you just want to play with it and get it at a good spot for you, some people, it might be here - some people might be back here. I think i'm going to choose like right there, i'm just going to do a quick little bobby pin here, because i want to tie it in the back and i don't want to lose my spot. So then you take the ends of the triangle, bring them around. The back time a little knot, i thought it would be cool to actually make the bobby pins that i need to put in to keep the scarf in place. Look cute. So, on the side, i'm still going to leave a little bit out because it's me i'm just going to take a little piece back and then i'm just going to do some exposed bobby pins right here. And when you do this, you want to make sure you put the bumpy side down, so you have a nice straight line here. Just it looks the nicest also bobby pins are meant to go bumpy side down that helps them hold the best, and so you should do that anyway, and i'm just going to put a couple more in and i'm going to be a little sneaky on this side And try to stick one and that you can't see as easily just gon na do it up at an upward angle, so that not as much of it is on the scarf, but it's still holding the scarf to my hair. Oh, i feel like a very cute bohemian pirate. Not only does this help upcycle whatever hair texture you have going on that day. It also lets you hide your roots. Do that information, what you will back to the side part for this hairstyle we're gon na stack. Some braids i mean, of course we are for the short hair version. I'M just going to create two braids on this side of my part to start off. Let'S grab a section back here and three strand braid: it alrighty, i'm gon na go ahead and fluff this one and next section just to give me a little bit of evenness. I'M gon na put one more on this side just for the short hair version. Now, here's the thing, my hair, not quite reaching all the way to the back, here's what we're gon na do. This is gon na look real funny until it doesn't you ready for this. We'Re gon na make a bun just in the back of the head and then we're gon na pin the braids into it like they fit into the butt, and it's gon na look like it all came together, even though it didn't ready, alrighty grab a section of Hair and pull that into a ponytail i'm going to go ahead and braid this one all right, i'm going to hold this thing at the end and fluff it apart, and i want this one to be really really fluffy and loose because then we're going to wrap It into a bun and then hopefully, let's see if my thesis works, i can tuck it underneath and put it in place. Picking up the tails from the braids that we're just hanging down and putting them up and making a part of the bun pinning that in place alrighty, so that was just a really quick, easy way to get a bunch of braids on shorter hair. Now, if you wanted this to be a little bit more tossled and stuff, i think you could take a bigger section for the bun and make the bun a lot bigger, and that would do so much. But i'm going to go ahead and let this one be here, it's kind of a more like refined, like date, nighty version which i do like and for anna lars we'll show you a little bit more tousled. I still had a bobby pin in here from the last one gon na take about a third of my hair and section it forward. This is just gon na, be a big old chunk for my two braids. Then i'm gon na take the other two thirds of my hair and secure it into a little ponytail all right. So i'm gon na take this big chunk of hair. Go ahead and section it in half, i'm going to start with this back one, then i'm going to secure it with an elastic. Can i do just a couple links of the french braid uh-huh, so you totally could take this section and just three strand braid it, but i'm gon na just be a little extra. What'S new all right just today, and then i'm gon na braid the rest of this normally all right. So now i'm going to take these two braids and wrap them over the ponytail and pin them in place. So, in order to get the biggest and messiest bun possible using the orbe dry texturizing spray, so i think i'm gon na go about this kind of, like i do for my fun buns, so i'm gon na take the ponytail part, hold it by the end and Just lightly backcomb it with my fingers, i don't have to do a ton because i just put so much texturizing spray in here, but it's anything to make the hair not look like it's all, going to the exact same place, and i kind of bury my little Braids inside the center of it see if that works out, we're going to twist grab onto a little piece and pull all right. I'M just coming in here to do what she can't see real, quick yay, your little braids are showing and everything oh wonderful cute. I did this again with a bigger section and i teased the hair first and just wrapped it into a bun. I let it fall out and everything. So i just wanted you guys to see yeah. This is the tousled version. I love it. So braided bun, it's more date night, this one's more tousled, do whatever you want, yeah exactly all right. I love it. This is so fun and for our last hairstyle, you're gon na need some colorful hair ties. Now i knew that i wanted these specific old-school fabric hair ties. Who remembers these from childhood me, but apparently they're called ponytailers. Now you know i got multiple packs, so i can choose the exact color combination. I want i'm really going in on this. Let'S do it. What color should i do? Oh, i think i, like the lilac alrighty. Well, this is easy, easy easy. This is another one of those things where, when you have the hair accessory yeah, i did this. When you have the hair accessory, it just makes everything else come together. So for this we're making little bubble pigtails i'm going to do them as a half a pack down and laura's going to do the whole thing. I think you can do this on any hair leak either way. So, whichever one you like best, do that we're going to start with the middle part you're going to take a triangle, that's a square you're, going to take a triangle right here and put that in your first hair tie and now you're going to mimic this line. That we made just a little further back, pull the hair up into a ponytail, and now we just make the bubble by pulling apart the hair between the ponytails aka, the hair ties. I think that is the perfect amount of bubble edge. I will do zero percent more. I'M gon na go ahead and split my hair down the middle and the back to make sure that i don't mess anything up on this step. Guess i could have done that to start with, but we're doing it now and i'm just gon na take one more section. I actually like this little hair in front of my ear, so i'm gon na kind of cheat start it back here and then we secure it with a hair tie and pull it apart in between that is that side done. I am gon na. Take one extra bonus, totally optional step and just fill in my hairline a little bit right here. This one is the mason reed hair color powder in light golden brown. I, like it a lot. It is a little bit pricey, so the color wow one, the l'oreal one, the brow powder that you already own all good options, something that i learned the hard way is shading, primarily in the back and not as much in the front. That way, you don't have like a harsh line and definitely that way you don't have a hole here. I'Ve done both watch my videos back, you'll, see it, and now we just repeat the same thing. On the other side, i'm going to go ahead because my hair split in half i'm just going to switch the hair clip from one side to the other, and now i can copy exactly what i did on the other side, because i can see where this section Ended so i can pick it up from here check it in the front started here, and you know sister is not twins, it doesn't have to be perfect. That can help orient you a little bit. I feel like this is really cute. This is another good. Just outdoor hairstyle, i think, if i did it with white, it could look like really chic and cool, but like with the colorful ones. Maybe with like a tie-dye shirt or like a cute little top, it could be like more playful, either way make it work. Wow. Oh that's fun i feel like that, makes it look a little older like right there, just there yeah, instead of doing it instead of it's just like the angle of the pony, so put it in as many as you want yeah, as many as you like in There yeah i'm having fun just adding stuff to it. I think i might like it better as the whole thing i like that, aside from the rogue color, it's really cute. I love that all right. Your turn, all right. So first thing i'm gon na do is get the center part going all the way to the back, because this is something that i always forget. Second, step is pulling on my tendrils, bring them over to this side and we're gon na put a little snap clip over here. This half is crazy. It'S okay! Moving on don't be thrown off by my your come over guys in their 60s, be like i've. Officially passed my tendril stage, so i'm going to take my comb over out now, i'm gon na get to a half up on this side. The most important thing i learned about pulling apart bubbles from you is that all you're doing is the exoskeleton. Yes, just the outside pieces, not necessarily the inside pieces. If you start grabbing too far in there, that's when things go crazy. You truly learned the important lessons from me, and here we are at the half up face. Oh you look cutie. I think the half up is like very lizzie mcguire to me now to finish it off. If you have decided you do not want your hair on your neck, we're just going to add a couple more which, like the difference between this and all the way up, is very big in the summer heat like that is not to be taken lightly. All right! Halfway done, i'm loving this, it's real cute, so fun. This is definitely a lot easier than doing like one of the pull-through braids and if you like, really went for it and fluffed these, like a lot more out, you could get a similar vibe to the whole. Like pull through situation, i love it bye and there you go. There are some summer hairstyles for you guys to try out. I hope that you guys enjoyed this video. It was super fun to make, and i really liked all of these i feel like there are things that i can pull into my routine to help me feel like i have a little bit more of a summer state of mind, even with everything going on, but That'S it for today, if you did enjoy the video, don't forget to hit the like button to help support my channel. I'Ve got 40s yikes, i'm gon na be 40 soon um in like nine years lilac this journey for me. So many braids, i'm just trying to do as many braids in one hairstyle as i can really

Amanda B: The editing is I think this format of showing us on long and short hair woth a pro and someone of normal skill level like most of us is great! I’ve been enjoying this a lot...octocurler has arrive here and it’s amazing! Strange but AWESOME hair tool I wouldn’t have know about if it wasn’t for you.

Laura C: I love how you always have your sister on to show the styles on longer hair!! You guys make a great team!! ☺️ My side bangs get so frizzy and crazy in the summer so I’m excited to try out the boho braid look!!

Brooke Gulling: I blame Kayley for my intricate hairstyles I've been doing. Like I'm just going to work but I'm like "here's a braid, there's a braid, here's another braid, oh let's add a fisttail over here" and before I know it I look like I'm headed to a viking ceremony! But I love doing and perfecting them and just in general being over the top with my hair!

fksongbird28: I feel like we've seen Anna Laura's darker hair in previous videos, but it is way more noticeable in this one! All about these summer hairstyles!

Lien: I just chopped 6 inches off my hair and im so relieved you've been doing short hair tutorials so I can still have cute hair!!! ❤❤❤

Emily Oyler: The last hairstyle was me in elementary school! I rocked that look everyday. It's so funny seeing it as popular now. Although, I did just cut my hair to my shoulders and I've been having trouble keeping it out of my face, so it may be time to bring this hairstyle back for me lol. Great video!!!

Gamdursol: I love the first version of the braided one, def gonna try that on my long hair.

Megan Muldowney: These are so cute, I'm gonna try and see if these work well on my curly hair

Carina D: Kayley, thank you so much for mentioning the shading technique for the areas with thinner hair. I feel so seen. I have a lot of hair and it’s mostly think except for my temples where it’s thin and there isn’t much hair there anymore. I started feeling sad conscious about it but that went away when I first heard you talk about it. I don’t mind it much now and when I do feel like covering it your advice comes in handy. Cam11: Can you do a tutorial on fishtail braids, but where they go from your part to the ends? Like Boxer braids but with fishtails if you know what I mean. Also please do a video on fine hair swimming hairstyles!! I have no clue what to do with my fine hair when I swim

The Bitchy Crafter: I love how doable all your hairstyles are.

Javeria Ahmed: I really really really was touched by "being's God's favourite" notion. We're in the same boat Kay ❤❤

Hannah Provenza: Kayley I was so interested with how your sister sectioned off her tendrils before she even started. Can you make a video just about how to create and style those piecey bits around the face with updos? I feel like those details make all the difference between a braided style or bun looking harsh/tight/strict/ vs soft/comfortable/welcoming!

Taylor Heilig: I think my hair is about as thick as 1/5 of kayley's I really need to learn how to style my super thin hair.

roxy picasso: loved the video especially since i just chopped my hair shorter than i was ready for! also, i aBSOLUTELY LOVE ANNA LAURA WITH DARK HAIR

Cakanang Dungdung: Kayley, i like you... how creative you are to make any hair styles. Even i cover my hair with veil, i can make it in my house and show my hair style to my hubby. Thank you kayley....

Crowned Lily: Short hair doesn't need to be left hair down with some of these. I had chin length hair for a time and I totally was able to get all my hair back. Its humid here and I have thick hair. I don't like any of it down when it's hot.
