Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day but if you're trying to avoid the spending that can come with it, you may have to get resourceful. Doing your own hair and make-up can be a good place to start. After all, even Kate Middleton did her own make-up and that was with half the world scrutinising her look.

I had my wedding hair done by a stylist and I didn't like it - she'd only practiced on my hair once and looking back it's my biggest regret. If it did it again, I would definitely do it myself! The main thing to remember is to start early and practice, practice, practice. Wear it out and have pictures taken to see whether it looks good in photos. You'll get a feel for what works and doesn't and then you can be confident on the day that you can do it and that it will look good.

Hi today i'm going to be talking about how to do your hair for your wedding day um. It'S a really good way to save hundreds of pounds, because it goes about 100 pounds just to do a practice, and then the hairdressers will judge another 200 pounds on the day. So, if you're on a budget, this is one way that you can save yourself. Quite a bit, and only do it if you're going to be really confident, though, and the only way to be really confident is to practice. And today i'm going to be showing you how i would do my hair, which is with lots of volume at the roots and then waves through the length, my hair's cut, with lots of layers, so it does curl really well and earlier in the year, i did Have a digital perm again, so it holds it in a bit more, but still last night i washed it. I used avida black malva shampoo and i only conditioned through the ends and that's because, if i conditioned at the roots too, i think it would just go a bit flatter. So i actually fell asleep with it damp, which is a bit naughty. But the most important thing about that is: don't wash it on the day, wash it the day before that way, it'll hold anything you do to it better, so i've just brushed it through, and it's quite simple put it put your hair in the parting um that You want to use the night before and try and sleep with it pinned if it if it doesn't like staying that way. I'Ve just done mine a bit to the side, because it's more flattering on my round face and i'm going to use these, which are my babyliss fabulous pro curling tongs. Now i just start at the front and get a section. That'S not very big. In fact, the smaller it is, the better it will do it. I always use my curling tons on full blast, which is probably really bad for my hair, but in this instance i think it'll be good, because you really want these to hold um on your wedding day. You'Re gon na have this all day long. So you want it to put the curls in as tight as you can in the morning, because by the end of the day, they're going to have dropped and whatever hairspray you use so make them really tight and put them up really high like this. So after a little while just hold that for a minute and drop it down - and you can see there - it's quite a tight curl, so i continue to do this all the way around. Like i say i think mine. Does it a bit better because i had a digital perm which, for those of you who don't know what it is, it's the type of perm that is really popular in asia, because it gives you that loose wave rather than the kind of homes they do here? Are really tight and the digital waves gives you the kind of curl that everybody seems to want like cheryl cole wave, and it cost me about 150 pounds. I had it done in hong kong because in london it costs about 400 and it's difficult to find places that even do it here. But if you do it's worth mentioning that, i think it's best done either japanese or korean hairdressers. It'S really really popular in korea and i've heard the best at it. So if you're going to get it done, do some research and find a korean hairdresser's in london for those of you who can't afford it. This is a good alternative and, to be honest, it's only been a few months and my curls have already dropped out quite a lot, so either they didn't do mine very well or it doesn't work very well. It also does dry out your hair quite a bit. I will put um hairspray through the ends to begin with now i'll, do this side the more practice you get, the better you'll get it and obviously you'll get to know what you like and what you don't like. You can wear it throughout the day and see how you get on see how long it lasts, and perhaps you can think about putting your hair up in the evening. If you know your curls aren't going to last all day, you really should put a pre-treatment cream on your hair, so this doesn't do too much damage. I never do, but i know i should i used to do this with them with hair straighteners, but when i discovered curling tongs, i think it seems the obvious choice. It'S so much easier, much quicker and you do get a tighter curl see. These do just drop nicely. I think it helps that i do have layers because it makes it a lot lighter. I used to have a lot more trouble curling it once you've done the bottom layers or the longest layers go through the top, just go from the roots and pick off the top layers of hair and just grab those on the bottom and curl up and the Same on the other side, i will put the name of all of the products and the tools that i'm using today, like my curlers and my hair, brushes on my blog and i'll, try and find links to where you can buy them as well. Just curl that up, i personally prefer curling this way so towards my face and like i say because i have a round face, i think that it it helps when hair falls across it. It just helps it look a bit thinner. So this is a very basic idea of how you'll get your main curls now you'll just carry on doing that for as long as you want, you can put them, like, i say, take smaller chunks of hair and get slightly tighter curls and the more you put In the longer they'll last, i think, because smaller bits of hair that curl they'll keep their bounce, so once you've done this main bit of curling, i'm using the v05 ultimate hold, which is cosmopolitan's, reader's, recommended hairspray and just spray it on the ends. I don't like to spray too much on my roots, because i feel my hair gets greasy quite easily and i don't like it when it feels horrible. I touch my hair quite a lot and i want it to feel nice. For the roots say the volume i've got hair abundance by avida, which is um, sorry pure abundance of the hair potion, and it's meant to volumize at the wrist. So i've just squished a bit into the palm of my hand, and it's got this powdery texture that when you touch it it goes so creamy. And then i rub that into my my hands and i just put my hair into the roots and rub some people put this straight onto their roots. But again i don't like to put that much on, because i think it weighs your hair down eventually and i think it makes it feel greasy which i really don't like um. So once i've got a bit of that on, you can feel the texture. I'Ve got this comb, which is a back combing comb which sounds scarier than it is so you just section off um the top part of the hair, so you've got the roots here and then you just comb towards the roots with the held hair up and you Just see it wedge down like you can feel it. It gets a bit nasty um. I don't know if you can see and then from a distance for a tiny bit of hairspray while you've got it lifted up. Hairdresser once told me that when she was back gaming, my hair, it really helps keep it there and then you can see how much more volume is. So you do that there. I always do a second one on on the side as well. Just a little bit lower to be perfectly honest back coming is the one thing if you can get somebody to help with, and you trust them to go with your hair with a comb. Then it's the one thing i would get them to help with. I think it can be tricky to do by yourself. Oh, my lids falling off tiny bit and down, and then you can see it's just a bit more volume through the roots, especially if you then pin it or something just just here so i'll. Do that on the other side as well, and if you twist the ends around like this, it will just keep them all together, and then i would just do one last spray arrange your hair at the front. How you want it do one last spray, and that is how i would do my hair if i was getting married now, it's very natural, it's not for everybody, but i think it would look really nice and i don't necessarily like overdone hair. I hope you like it too.
