Hi I'm Jess Owner of Jess Salon in Gilbert Arizona! Thank you for watching my video, please be sure to follow for more videos where you'll find my best beauty tips, tricks and favorites on everything from top luxury products to my favorite drugstore products. Whether you're looking for a new product review, tutorial, beauty tip, haul or perhaps even a giveaway, I hope you enjoy watching!

You another curling tutorial because I'm going on a cruise in like a week and the big soft waves that I normally wear probably won't last very long and humidity and on a bow where there's wind and I'm sure you some of you, live in a place like That, where there's lots of wind and humidity so I thought I'd show you I'm gon na do tousle duei -- vs that I can touch up over the next few days, but kind of are just like messy looking, but with a purpose so they're a wave with A curling iron and it's a wrap and twist method and then I'm using a few different products that I don't normally use. So it's something different: okay to get started. I'M gon na section off my hair. So the key to this style of curling is that we take small sections, so you could feel this. It isn't very much hair. Oh, let me tell you about this. I was actually going to do a different curling iron. I just can't cuz. I love this one. I know I use a lot of the same things, but it's because they work and they're just my favorite, so this is an inch and a quarter. Babble Asst nano Pro titanium made on titanium has that soft coating. It looks like a matte finish, so it works. Really well glides, through your hair, I love it. I can't help it. I'M gon na start with the seven-second glossing spray. This is their heat protectant spray from unite, it's very lightweight, which I like kind of messes with my head. When I use a heat protectant that makes my hair kind of wet like I don't think that would be a good thing. So I like that one. It'S like a really soft mist, so I'm gon na take a really small section. I'M gon na clamp roll it up, unwind, keep it in the barrel roll it up, unwind roll it back down, hold it back up. It makes like these really skinny little curls, which probably look really funny, but when I'm done they're perfect, so this style in general takes a little bit longer than the big soft waves. However, I don't touch it up with heat the next few days, so I think it's worth the time, because it's that easy, so we got really skinny waves right here. Then I'm gon na use my unite texturizer. I love this. It'S not as sticky as a hairspray, and it has a little bit more tact than the dry shampoo, because this look needs texture. That'S like the name of the game for the whole thing camp. Taking down my next section and depending on the density of your hair, the size section you're taking down will vary so here's thicker do less. If it's thinner do a little bit more gon na prep. It seven-second glossing grab my curling iron, having a very small section in the front, go close to my scalp, so there's a mirror right next to the camera and you unwind and drop you see up. It'S just really ugly curl. I promise it works out. It'S kind of kind of weird-looking, though in the meantime I take a skinny section. Oh and another key to this is we're gon na rotate the whole way through. If we do them all the same direction, it would still work, but it wouldn't have as much texture as we need, and then I want my ends to stay straight, because again it's just that tasseled wave. Can you get to the back? It'S kind of hard to reach, don't overthink, it just grab a section of hair, we're repeating the same thing over and over again, I'm gon na slow this down for you on the next one. So if you're getting stuck, you can see what you're doing these curls are just the way I handle the iron. It looks more complicated than it is so here we go if we slow it down. Okay, a small section like before I'm gon na start close to my head: I'm gon na roll it up, unwind roll it back up, pull through just a tiny bit, unwind roll it back up so in one sense: you're kind of you're making a skinny, curl and You'Re, like heating, it back up with the iron and then unwinding rolling it back up, unwinding, rolling it back up, and then I always tug on the ends and pull them straight. So here I am rotating close to my head: roll back up, unwind, pull back up and whine. You just pull it straight. I'M sure this looks a little weird. It works though okay same thing in the back roll it back up. Why roll it back up? Don'T forget to check the back here head just because if you forget a piece you're gon na have one straight straggler back there. This is definitely a curling style that you could use a smaller corner. So if you have a 3/4 or a one-inch, you're totally fine grab that one. I have also seen the sound with a one and a half two, so kind of depends on what you want to do. Mm love how you nice just need, like a candle of that, so this is also a curling style. I like to use on people that have really fine hair and want it to look thicker, because I know if I try to do big soft waves on someone and they only have so much hair per square inch. You know, like density, I'm not no matter what I do. I can't get volume out of that. It'S just really tough. So I resort to this because I can get more curls in on their head and then put a lot of product in it. It looks much thicker than it actually is. So if your hair is fine and no matter what you do with your curls, it's just falling flat. I would try this out if you do this style and it's still having a hard time holding, I would use a really lightweight, dry, shampoo or use that texturizer and spray the section beforehand, just because some people's hair needs something to hold on to a little bit Of like texture, already in your hair, all you guys that have wavy, hair or curly hair, and you hate it. This is perfect for you. This is not even fair. You guys have that much buddy when I have clients with curly, hair and they're like well. I got a blow dry, it first and then straighten it and then curl it. I'M like what no you don't like just work with all that texture that you have it's a blessing, trust me, because you get so much volume, so much texture. All of us are just trying to make it bigger and you just have to tame it down, which is actually easier than trying to make it bigger. So if you have wavy curly hair, do not worry about doing all that. First, let it air dry, let it be kinky. This is your hairstyle okay, so you would think this is my last section and I'm actually gon na cut this in half. I want little little sections, because that's what gives me all that texture and height that you like this, isn't this isn't the style where it's flat on top and the curls are more bouncy down here. This is like your texture with volume, especially if you like to tease your hair. This is probably the curls that you like, so as I move up more to the top of my head, I'm gon na try as hard as I can to keep these curls higher. So if you notice, I didn't, let me show you I didn't do this. I didn't grab a big section. I still stayed small and I didn't come down here and start curling. I over direct that gives you volume so hold it up. High roll it right. On top of your head, unwind, it roll it back up. What you may not notice is that I'm kind of pulling the clamp out a little bit just to let it glide. So if you're wondering, if I'm dragging I kind of am but I'm also loosening this clamp just a little bit if you open it completely, your hair is gon na fall out of the barrel. But if you just open it tiny bit, then it gives you more flexibility to move the iron through your hair wine, it roll it back up and wine hole it back up. This style is so cute on long hair does take a little bit longer. I'Ll be honest, but it's worth the time it's so cute, especially since we're gon na be heading into summer. That'S what made me think of X, I'm like I'm going on this cruise. I want to feel like beachy going to Mexico. If you're wondering pretty darn excited me and the husband, no kids, I feel like I'm like hiding it'll, be good. I thought about maybe recording a video out there. I don't know what it's like. I'Ve never actually been on a boat ever I'm a little nervous to be on the ocean. Without my kids, I don't know, it'll be fun. So if you know this is the style you're gon na be doing to your hair in the shower use. Volumizing shampoo and conditioner I'll link in the description all these products that I'm using I love, unite: they're paraben, free they're, super clean, oh sorry, sulfate free, some of them are phosphate and paraben free, but each product varies a little bit. I actually have some clients who are: they are celiac, they have that, and so I had to be really careful about gluten and everything and they can even have some of the unites they're on the list. So they're super clean. It'S another reason that you can use 5 things and they won't wear your hair down. They just work together so well, because I love product, I don't like to just put it in the one time I shampooed my hair. That day, I like to do the next days too, and this look is fun because it's a few different products I haven't - I don't use. Often I use them a lot more in the summer because they handle heat and humidity really well in the winter. I don't always think it's necessary, but I'll show you guys at the end. What I'm doing at that stragglers? Don'T let him go. Okay. I'M on my last section. Wait a minute! Oh wait. I forgot to spray this woman can't miss that part. It'S the best part. Okay, here's my top section that was seven second glossing, and, on my top I am gon na also put a layer of texture spray just because your top is usually it's just not as easy to like get your curls to stay pretty much on everyone. Unless you have curly hair you're just blessed, you already have volume. All of us are just trying to make it happen. Okay, so when you're up here, you're over directing and you're staying up over direct means instead of down here, that's probably comfortable, you hold it out or straight up and forward all that over directing just gives you volume and think about it. As it's giving you an extra day of lift because your curls are just going to fall at some point, and so if they start down here, they're gon na fall out. You want them to start up here, so they have a lot longer to fall, and even with me talking through this in real-time, I am at about almost 15 minutes or so at home. Once you get the hang of this, it doesn't take as long I'm much quicker when I'm not trying to do it perfect for you guys, but no joke. I really don't have to put any heat on these after my big soft waves, I will put heat on I'll, just I'll just recur all my two front pieces cuz. I like that bounce in the front and I'll let the rest go, but with this kind it just turns into this like tousle texture and that's one thing on this video. I wanted to show you because I always I show you how to do it. The first place, but it's important for you to know what to do tomorrow and the next day, always keep in mind how dense your hair is um if it's coarse, are really find. These curling irons have knobs on the side, so turn it down. If your hair is really fine and keep it at the top, if your hair is thick and coarse, I in general keep mine at the top, just because I cruise through it pretty quick and my blonde really healthy. So, if you're nervous about it turn the heat down, that's why it's there in case you're wondering I have mirrors on this side and that's got it from all angles. Oh, am i dad? Oh, this is the last one. Congratulations everybody you made it! You get a ribbon at the end, it's called everyone likes your hair, ok texturize s, leaving it up, so I'm gon na let these sit. While I talk that's super important. You don't want to run your fingers through them as soon as you're done, because they need to set they should they still feel warm, you want them to feel completely cool. So what I'm gon na finish with product wise is unite liquid volume. This stuff, if you like that, really PC look through your ends or you have short hair and like texturizer or texture, spray or dry shampoo still fall, and you want just more try this stuff out liquid or liquid liquid volume, recall dust. I love this stuff, so I'm gon na put this through my ends for more grit, and then this is the expanded dust this stuff. It'S not what it looks like be intentional when it comes out or I'll show you it has this kind of a top. It almost looks like a baby powder top, but it's so strong. So it comes out. I don't know if you can see in the camera, but it's like super fine. Oh my gosh. It has so much grit. So I in my extension clients I'll put it through. Like their hair, when it's all silky, just to kind of give it texture, but a lot of my clients like putting this like poofing a little bit of this through here for some texture. So I'm going to show you how I do that this stuff is like. So popular, ok, my curls feel good, so I'm gon na start breaking them down. I'M going to show you what that looks like normally I brush out with a brush with this look. I'M gon na only use my fingers, so I'm gon na start at the top. I'M gon na start at the bottom. Holding the top sorry run your fingers through then do the top same thing on this side and run your fingers through the top see how this already looks so much texture. That'S like my goal of life is to have textured, hair, okay, so lots of curls. You see how they're kind of PC, if you like that, leave it this way, if you want more messed up, which is what I like. That'S why I said messy with a purpose I'm gon na go through with my texturizer, I'm gon na start creating chaos. Just you can't go wrong. Everything from unite is so lightweight, so just go at it: okay, liquid volume. Actually, no I'm gon na use this stuff. First, they expand to dust cuz. I want to go top to bottom, because if I go at my ends, first they're gon na be kind of stuck. So this is how you use the expanded dust, lift up a section. Oh it's in there and kind of work. It in lift up the other side poof, it is serious, like do not be uh. What'S the word not intimidated, don't be deceived, it is serious grit, but it's not like that. What'S it called puffed me Brandt, is it puffed me yeah? That stuff is too sticky. So I like this because I can still touch my hair and it's not like. Oh what was that I want to put a little bit more. Oh yeah girl, look at that. Okay, liquid volume love this stuff, so this is a little different. You don't go ham with this, so this stuff is a little different. You don't go crazy with it. You'Re not gon na spray it all over because be intentional. This stuff, it's a lot more stick than what you've been using. So I'm gon na stick to this reagent and then I'm gon na work my way through it pretty quickly, I'm letting it dry and then I'm moving it around mmm. I love this look: okay, spraying it letting it dry and I'm working my fingers through it. That'S really important, because if you go at it too soon then you're probably pulling your Curl Curl out. You want to do it slowly, Hey look at all of that texture! I love this look so much. I also do a similar lick with a three barrel, which I can show you at the end of this video, but if you want to stick to a curling iron, this works amazing, because what I want to show you is once it starts to fall down a Little bit over the next few days, don't go at it with heat. This is a curl that you can literally mess up with your fingers or just kind of redo with your fingers in the morning. If you wake up - and it's like, where did you go last night, because your hair looks crazy? That'S how I um then just take your texture spray, look at your hair and just start working it through and just mess with it like when normally when you're looking at Pinterest, or you see someone super cute and you're like how did you do your hair they're, Like oh, this is like three day old hair like that's all they're doing they're letting it go. It turns into a really relaxed tasseled wave if you live in humidity work with it wear a beach spray. Oh that's the one product I forgot beach day. Bye you night, it is a textured Beach spray, but it's not sticky. So it kind of helps you start over for the next day without undue everything that you did so it's wet, but you spray it in, and you can you'll feel these to this product and this product kind of breakdown so that you can redo it after. So I spray that all over very light kind of work it through and then I start over and I pick up my texturizer. I work it back in. I use my liquid volume. I work it back in and then this is just a fallen version and it's just more tousled. So that's my go-to for the next few days, and I will make this last through four or five days, not even joking. You probably think it looks messy. Everyone else is wishing and wondering how you did it, so this is my tousled beach wave, not my big soft way. So, if you want to change up your curl, do something different. This is how you do it.

dakotahjadee: I just discovered your channel and I absolutely love the fact that you don’t fast forward your videos and that you show them in real time! They’re extremely helpful. Your hair tutorials are by far the best I’ve seen on YouTube! I bought the babyliss 1 and a 1/4 inch curling iron because of you and I plan to buy the UNITE products you have mentioned

Morgan Bratton: I am living for this look!!! I love all the volume and texture that it gives. Hope you have a great time on your cruise!

Rebekah Leadley: Love this hair style! I tried it on my hair this morning, easy to get the hang of it. Thank you!

Jamie Elizabeth: It’s always crazy to me how easily you find the straight, uncurled hair just by feeling lol I get so irritated sorting through the curled and not curled hair it takes me longer just because I keep everything separated so I don’t have to find the straight hair LOL

Alyssa Lucero: I LOVE! I just recently cut my hair into a bob and would love to see you do this technique on shorter hair ❤️

Monika perez: I love your channel so much! Thank you for sharing amazing tutorials!

Tina Marie: Just watched this video and tried the whole unwinding technique, LIFE CHANGING. My hair came out perfect for once

Amy L: Not only did I learn how to do a new curling technique, but also discovered a new way to put my hair up in the clip while sectioning the hair!!!

Sarah H: I love this look!! Thank you for this video♡

Britt: Learning this technique now and I just bought this curling iron! It seems like you're almost making long, skinny dreads, letting them sit, then shake out. At least it made me think of dreadlocks

Katie Day: Love you & your videos! Thank you for doing them in real time and not fast forwarding through any steps, it’s helped me so much. Have a great vacation girl!

Ol Faithful: "You don't go HAM with this." I can't wait to try this!! Doing my own hair for an outdoor wedding in May... fingers crossed!! :D

Emily Garcia: I’m so excited to try this! I searched for hair in humidity because I’m going to Cancun and my hair cannot deal but I hope this hair style works for me there! Thank you!

Brianna Nickz: I have to admit I’m a curly wavy texture girl and I never used it to my advantage! Looks so pretty!

Victoria Maria: you really explain things well

Laura Softheart: Your video is great for the showing and explanations for people like me that need it.

Jess Hallock: Hey everyone! All products mentioned in the video are linked in the description. The first 15 seconds of the intro were lost due to a messed up SD card. Sorry about that! Comment below what other videos you would like to see. Also, if you guys have any cruise tips those would be useful because it’s my first one! :)

Bees_nail_art: You make it look so easy I've been using a mini curling iron & just got my hair curled yesterday once my big iron was so big for me. I couldn't even do curls with a hair straightener

jenniferw62: I just bought the same iron and products. So excited about finally upping up my hair game.

Samantha Charlton: I canNOT thank you enough for also providing the links from the product website. I no longer buy from Amazon and I am fine with finding the product elsewhere, but you linking it just shows that you care about your audience. Thank you! Everyone could have found their own links to Amazon and I could have found my own link to Unite, but you putting the work in should not go unnoticed ❤️♥️

The Real Macaw: I just found your channel, and I just think you are so wonderful! You move quickly and don't get distracted by talking. However, what you do say is very important and worth listening to! Thanks for being on YouTube!!

Montsergirl: Looks gorgeous!! I am wondering what we can do if we have a curling wand? Or if it’s possible with a wand? Love this look!

Merideth Yarbrough: Can you make a video on how you do a pineapple bun at night as well as what you do to refresh your curls in the morning!

Erin: Have fun on your cruise! I've been watching beauty videos for ten yrs and you're the most beautiful youtuber I've ever seen!

K. Gunny: I love this look

Tammy: You are by far the prettiest person I've ever seen on YouTube !! I'm hoping I can figure out how to curl my hair like this ;)

Jenn Angle: I just got this curling iron in this morning and tried this technique for the first time. I’m working with virgin hair and always struggle to keep my hair curled. I loved the curling iron and I’m ok with how the waves came out, but they didn’t get as big and voluminous as yours, which is what I was looking for. I’m interested to see how they hold up since I’m going to an outside crawfish boil with family. I live in south Louisiana and deal with humidity a lot, even though it isn’t as humid today. I didn’t have the same hair products, so I may have to get them and try this again. It could also be that I may have twisted back up too many times.

Monica Watkins: Thank you for talking about curly hair ! I would blow dry first and then curl . I'm gonna try what you said . Cause I definitely dont need volume so well see if I can do it !

Heather H: I love this!

Dawn Kempa: Would like to know ...do you put your hair up when you sleep in those curls? If so..what do you use? Can't wait to try this technique!

Jamie Elizabeth: I would love to see the process day to day. Like how you touch it up in the mornings and what it looks like over the 3 days and how you style it. Do you change the style up day to day when it’s curled?

Katie Burgess: First of all, I LOVE this look! Secondly, where do you buy Unite as a professional? I'm a stylist thinking about offering it.

Sideline Breaks: I flipping LOVE your tutorials. Im ordering EVERYTHING from your links above. Are you sure this iron is 1/4inch tho? (The link sends me to the 1/4 inch) I am asking bc this curler looks way bigger

Nel Kekauoha: I was determined to get ur gorgeous curls! Was headed to Sally's to get that iron and stopped at T.J Maxx and saw a titanium, inch and a quarter iron and bought it! As I'm watching ur other curling video and doing my hair, it keeps getting stuck and not working like urs! Then u say in the video... this iron is great because it has texture, it's not like those shiny ones that get caught in your hair ‍♀️ I bought a shiny one that gets caught in my hair! back to sally's I go lol

Allison James: Please do a tutorial on how you put your hair up at night and show us how you revamp your curls. I would love to see that from the start up! I know you said pineapple style but I don’t know what that is! Lol ‍♀️ I love your tutorials!!❤️

Kayla Boggs: I have followed this video a hundreds times and somehow my curls look weird they all start at same place on top so it looks like put a bowel on my head and didn’t curl my hair until like my eyeball lol this looks beautiful on you please tell me how I can fix this? I have tried curling closer to the root and that does not help.

Rachelle Ensor: Hi Jess! I am a new sub :) I got lots of questions, lol. I wanna try out ur fav brand "unite". Are they sold at beauty supplies for lisenced holders or maybe at a hair show event? Before I fo searching, i thought u might get them somewhere other than amazon. Atm I am obsessed with finding the best h/c techniques for fine hair! Do u have any tricks to cut fine hair? Like really fine hair? Thanks for ur time! Have fun on ur cruise. Congrats on ur new salon!

Claire DeSabato: Can you do a video on products you love to keep hair healthy? Thx!

Jennifer Santanello: Ok. My hair falls. Especially overnight. I move around A LOT in my sleep. Do you do anything preventative or have any tips or tricks to keep your hair from being completely ruined while you sleep? Do you tie it back? Wrap it in a scarf? Or just throw in some dry shampoo and pass out?

Jamie Elizabeth: You are so freakin pretty! You’re personable and super informative and I just love watching your videos! I actually grew up in Phoenix so every time you talk about the heat or humidity I get so jealous LOL Arizona will always be home to me ♥️

Sideline Breaks: I just now posted my "Me trying to do this like you lol " I linked your chan in my description for reference. You totally inspired me to try buuuuuhhhht ...well spoiler alert... its not good lol

Goldie Stacy: Love your videos. And good luck on your cruise. I've never been on one so no helpful tips lol. Have you done a video on a proper way to shampoo cause I know when I go to a saloon they wash my hair different than I do at home, and what's the best shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair?

Razel Frey: Could you do a video about how you maintain the curl for days?

mmmcorn: I just came across your beach waves tutorial from like 7 months ago, just followed you on IG and you’re in my area!

bvargas516: So glad I found your channel!

jocelyn proto: I'd love too how you do curls on women with wavy/curly hair! My curls are haphazard and frizzy. How do I make them look good??

Country Living: Would I still need to volumizing sprays and powders ??? I’m Latin my hair sits on top of my shoulders just like yours when you cut your hair... going to practice that curling iron technique

Sarah Turnbo: I use the same size curling iron and the same technique but for some reason I can’t get the curls as big as you do :(

Mishel Browning: Hi Jess! Do you have a favorite flat iron/recommendation?

grahambell1: Will you do another Round Brush Blow dry Tutorial Jess?

Alisa Bates: What temperature is your curling iron on?

StephLynnXO:

Kimberly: Where did you find the white towel cabinets above the shampoo area?

Angie Kelly: I’m gonna need the deets on that lip color!!

Neely Santeramo: I know you said you don't like wands as much but any chance you'd do a wand tutorial? I got rid of all my clamp curlers when the big YouTube craze happened with the nume wands and got two different sized wands and a straightener and now I'm feeling frustrated that no one uses wands anymore and everyone is hyping their favorite curling iron. I don't want to buy anymore hair tools eek! Thank you!

Jason Aiken: Dont go "ham" haha.. Good vid :) gotta learn these tips for when I find a wife I can refer her to your channel.

Melissa Hernandez: Ok so you when you turn the hair around the barrel you open the clamp a little bit? The small details matterrrrr

Marci Light: Honestly I couldn't tell the difference once you curled your hair and then started adding all those products! You could've left out all the products and gotten the same result. Pretty hair though.

Taylor Morris: I found my internet angel! UGH FINALLY!

Desiree Atwell: I need a curling tutorial for short hair lol!

chocolatesmisu: My hair did not retain any curls at all while on my cruise lol. Way too much humidity.

Taylor Genthe Zorn: What do you do for color for your hair!?

Lisab9555: I cant figure out the dry shampoo you use. I don’t see the can long enough lol

Barbara Mason: You use a lot of hair products. Don't you worry about them clogging the pores on your scalp and losing hair?

Maria Mitchell: How do you sleep in it if you have shorthair the pineapple doesn’t work because it takes out the curls so badly at the top and that’s pretty much where I have my girls I have shoulderlength hair can you please let me know how to sleep thanks!!!!

Sharon Shreeves: Shame Unite products are so expensive

Kim KimKim: you are precious

Sherry Davis: Have I done a video on putting in your extensions?

Lexxi Paul: You look like Kaley Cuoco
