Hey guys, here's a second formal updo as promised it's perfect for events, weddings and proms. This look is a bit more young and flirty and is perfect for those with thin hair. Again, my hair is and curlformers. If you missed that tutorial, here's the link, I'm gon na start by separating all the hair at the crown of my head, and I clip it out of the way then carefully separate the rest of the loose hair to create smaller, more voluminous curls. Once you're done. Separating you should have lots of volume release that top section of the crown and we're gon na open and flatten each curl by gently combing and smoothing the hair down with the fingers. Opening and flattening the curl will create the illusion of smoother straighter hair. Now that everything's been flattened and smooth back at the crown gather the hair behind the head, then gently push the hair upwards to create a slight pouf for volume at the ground, bend secure the hair in place with bobby pins grabbing the hair. Above your ear gently smooth it back and bobby, pin it loosely in place at the back of your head repeat the same thing on the other side. Now, here's where your thin hair gets lots of volume with the palm of your hand, cup all of the curls in the back and gently and loosely bring it up to the center of your head. Then bobby pin the curls in place exactly where they are. This creates the appearance of a loose and organic updo, where the curls give you the appearance of super volume. If you've got any loose, curls hanging down just place them in a pretty spot and bobby pin it in place once that sides done head to the other side. I want the curls to fall mostly on one side of my head, so I push the rest of my free hair towards the curls on the opposite side and bobby. Pin it to secure the direction, then repeat the same cupping motion as before, bringing all the curls up towards the center of your head and bobby. Pin it into place. Everyone'S updo will look different depending on how you cup and pin it but you're sure to have lots of volume once the back is done. I prepare my fringe or bang. By separating the curls in front, then I gently smooth the curls over to one side and twist the ends loosely together to keep the hair moving in the same direction. For that side swept bangs. Look then just loosen up the hair, so the twist is less noticeable. Since I'll be dancing all night, I'm gon na discretely bobby pin my BAE in place, so I won't have to fix it later in the night, now add a bit of interest with fun accessories, and that's it. A young, flirty and carefree updo perfect. For those with been hair - and you can make it look different each time you create it by cupping and pinning it differently. I hope this helps guys enjoy your night bye.

Denise Robinson: I so LOVE this style!!! I'm one month into transitioning but I still tried it and it came out so pretty. Love your vlogs and your vids=)

Cristal Baez-Nelson: I absolutely love this look & you look gorgeous!

Rae.belle: Thanks for another awesome hairstyle tutorial! Having so many natural hairstyles to choose from keeps me from straightening it as much for special occasions.

Kimberly Purpoz: I love your videos. You make the steps so easy and simple to follow!:-)

Shaks R-C: Love this style! I have a wedding to go to and I think this is perfect. Love the way you got the side bang. I always have problems getting it unless I think about it a day ahead, lol.

Saya Nicks: This looks great! I think since my hair is so thick and dense that I'm gonna leave the back down a bit. Other than that, this looks like fun. Your hair is looking lovely. =)

Rudi Jones: i love your style videos! i am (patiently) waiting for my hair to grow longer so i can rock more of your styles!

Iriss Delgadillo: So inspiring! Love it so much. Thank for sharing Nap!!! Hugs!

drjess82: I really like this updo. It may be my fav of yours. I can already imagine my hair in this style with my own personal variation. Thanks so much Nap for sharing.

TheSongstress319: You're welcome dear! I totally did this style on Friday on a twist out and I got a TON of compliments. Great for dancing too!

potterylady1: Love it!!!! Looks like styles models wear in magazines and on run ways!!!! So cute :).

MissLG Taylor: I LOVE your makeup! I've been looking for natural styles for prom and this one is perfect! But I also need to figure out makeup as well.. Do you mind making a video on how you did this makeup?? I would love that ;)

_ImAlwaysAshley: I am totally a 4c girl and lovin' it1 My grandmother hated my hair too, but once I learned to take better care of it other people opened up to it more. It looks a lot healthier than it used to, and now I've started making YouTube videos to document it all and maybe even help a few people. I hope you keep embracing your hair beauty!!!

ahlyah123: So napturally creative, thank you for all of your efforts!

Ashley Davis: this turned out sooo good. it's a perfect transitioning style for me.

DenoJoe2Def: @Naptural85 I like your style lady. I think you bring lots to the table for our natural hair sistas. I'm a black man. Unfortunately I dont get to watch all your videos every now and then I do like this one. I have 360 waves and I love my natural hair. I will continue to support the natural hair journey in my own way and wish continued success in yours!

Prince: Your hair is so beautiful! You are truly an inspiration for natural women everywhere!

tjacksonfrazier: Love it! Beautiful as always. Thanks for sharing Whit.

sdperry00: Love your videos!! Very well done. Question -- I know you are an avid exerciser. Can you give tips on how you maintain these styles with a regular exercise regimen? I workout every morning and sweat a lot. I love to experiment with my hair but find that a lot of styles just will not hold up. Thanks!

Nicolette Hinds: You're hair is beyond gorgeous. You're videos and blog post are the most helpful things I have watched/read when it comes to hair. No one else handles it the way you do. Even though you clearly don't have thin hair, you still upload vidoes for those who do. Never leaving anyone out... You are truly an inspiration. Thank you for all of your past vid/blog posts and all the ones to come in the future. My hair wouldn't be what it is without your help.

glamakitti: Really nice look as usual. I am actively willing my hair to grow so I can do a curlformer style, it's about 4 inches now. My doesn't grow evenly though, my sides are always shorter than my front and crown and the nape of my neck is my weak spot i.e grows very slowly and breaks easily -_-

228beauty: Your hair is so beautiful...I can't wait til my hair grows out thank you for your videos

Zai: i llove this! ive been searching all over youtube for a person with natural hair that had the same length and texture as I do. this is perfect! i need to get curlformers

Chenay Arberry: this is seriously my favorite. sleeping in with my curlformers now!

testing4echo: Pretty, simple style. Thank you

TheSongstress319: She did it again! Another great 'do!

caribbeanspice08: haha! love the dancing part... love the style, very cute and creative (as usual!)

JustDeni92: i like how she recycles her hairstyles and make them into more hairstyles...very creative!! i would never think to do that!!

aynot321: I must say I'm style challenged, however, you made that style look really easy!!!

SymMorena: your makeup is really pretty in this! so is the hairstyle!

Allysa :): Gorgeous, as usual!

curlynred: Love it. Thanks for sharing.

The Natural Hair Vickyvue: You were definitely thinking about me when you made this one, cuz my hair has more length than density, love the tutorial! thanx!

Johnna C.: gorgeous as usual!

ladyluo: so so pretty. Can't wait to have longer hair

Puppylion715: Very pretty and I love your make-up!

NaTrulyMe: Love it!

Laura Johnson: First, I want to tell you that you have gorgeous hair!!! I have a few questons. How do you maintain your curls after using the curl formers, how long do they last you and how long would you suggest keeping them?

Aisha Soleil: I can only speak for myself, but I genuinely like her updo styles. I think they are cute! And I love how simple and easy they are. To each their own I suppose. I adore the "messy" look. Maybe it's just not your preference or style. You are certainly within your rights to state your opinion, but perhaps you can try not to be so... harsh. Just because you don't like the style doesn't make it a "hot mess". But thank you for giving Whitney another view on her video! ^_^

folaafua: Girl, thank you for sharing your videos. They are both informative and tastefully done. You cannot please everyone, but by all of the responses to the one person who had to criticize someone who is taking their time to create and share their videos...this person needs to shut up and go to another site more "suitable" for their taste....why don't they post their OWN videos before criticizing someone else.

newid10: Thank you for remembering those of us who genetically have thin hair!

Susmailine: you are very creative in creating hairstyles. amazing ::))

Thalia Aliyah: it looks so good on her!

The Curl Life: I am saving saving saving for those Curlformers. Gorgeous as usual.

irene stanciel: Ugh!!!!!.....I love all of your styles and videos...thank you sooo much for uploading love...xo.

MissJhane: Great Video!!! You do have a lot of hair I see, more than me... I still have a problem doing curlformers style that stays... my hair always goes back like an elastic band after a few hours... ugh!!

Fenominal Felicia: Love it ! :D

LoveMyUnusual: I love it :)

Koko Mnkiko: if this is what you call 'thin hair', then mine must be ... I dream of growing as strong, as long thick hair as yours =)

cherryboo65: just beautiful!

Liz E: so cute!!! Your hair is beautiful. So healthy.

Kimolle Aida: it's beautiful. Thank you

2410naturalD: will be investing in the curl formers. I just love your videos and ideas! thank you! ;0)

LaNeshe M.W.: Beautiful style! What do you do to maintain your culformer sets past one day?

ceemee1: Thanks for sharing. Your hair is beautiful.

gigimc: I so need to try curlformers! I just get scared I'll end up messing something up & I'll end up with mayhem lol awesome makeup btw... did I miss the tut? if not...... tutorial!! :)

sparkletone1684: You could totally put a flower in your hair with this style that would match your gown. You could really jazz it up by having fun with the accessories. I love how she danced after the hairdo was done. Too cute! :-P

Audio Output: your hair is so perfect!

Lisa Johnson: your hair is soooooo gorgeous!

goodec323: Love it. I need some of those decorative hair pins.

Monet Masters: your hair is simply gorgeousness!

Margaret: Love your little dance at the end lol and your makeup ;D

mutie70: I totally agree, her styles and tips are easy and simple and look good. Nothing complicated and overly styled like you stepped out of the salon. Most of us are regular everyday folks with school, jobs and families who want simple pretty styles and helpful techniques. Everybody isn't trying to be a damn diva! LOL

skinnypennie: You are so creative and your hair is killer!

Beesexy2: Beautiful :)

NataGintoki: Your hair is AMAZING!

efa onyianta: ive watched every video of hers even her twa videos... she has defined 4a hair alot like mine there is nothing mixed about her hair lol

adorablebelle: If/when I get married. I am all set now. THANKS SO CUTE

2HootHoot: absolutely STUNNING

mamaolu: You have the most creative styles on the internet!!!!!

retta1960: OMG NOT ANOTHER PRETTY NATURAL HAIR VIDEO...I REALLY LOVE THE WAY YOU ROCK NATURAL HAIR. JUST GOES TO SHOW YA, NATURAL HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iriss Delgadillo: shame on you! I love Naps hair styles, I have hair very similar hers and just as long. Its great to see someone with your hair type sharing hairstyles that are fun , unique, elegant, yet comfortable. You obviously dont know that one way to maintain length is to avoid pulling your hair too tigh, pinning too tight, slicking it back to tight. You know whats a hot mess? Your comment is a hot mess! :/

buzzer270: You look so PRETTY AND GORGEOUS!!!! I love ya WHITNEY!!!!!!! :)

Sel_bby: Every time I watch your videos I get more and more depressed. Your hair is soooo perfect.

Britt Bry: Hi naptural 85! I was just wonderin, do you oil your scalp regularly? If so, how often? I have to oil my scalp every 4 to 5 days or my scalp will be dandruff central!! Thanx

mkinn1: Well, I try almost all your styles and their great on you. I will attempt this do but I feel disaster coming for me. I dont know if its my texture or lack of patience : )

Reigna Celeste: LoveLoveLoveLove it!!

SaitamaFlowers: In response to some of the comments about this video not representing thin haired naturals: I have truly thin hair and while this hair looks nice on Nap's lovely thick mane, by the time I separate my hair in half, it already looks even thinner so I could never pull this off. I think it's really hard for someone to do a tutorial of a style for people who don't have their hair type, but it's nice she tried. It's not her fault she has thick hair. At least she tried to think of something for us.

His_Queen: Mine too! After 5 years I still haven't figured out the secret. Must be nice. Her hair is BEAUTIFUL! My mom saw this video and said WOW! And I said look how pretty her hair is, she has a different texture then mine. She cut me off and said "yeah a BETTER texture!" I gotta get hate from my nature mom as well??? What is really going on in tha world? I feel all of the textures are beautiful but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion right?

BFFFL16: oh whitney thats so cute ^_^ all the ways you put your hair in the vid for preparing the for the actual hair-do was totally cute! :)

Tamika Michelle: Can we see a makeup tutorial... your eyes are sooooo pretty!
