I'm going to show you how to create a one ponytail updo. If you have long hair, then you want to show how long your hair is. Instead of doing like a half up or half down, I think a pony look is a beautiful alternative.

So what we're going to do is we're going to take a square section in the back and I'm using a rat tail comb to keep my sections nice and smooth, so I have taken probably a three inch section from around of the back of the head all the way down to the bottom, and this is going to be where our first ponytail goes. Now we're going to smooth this in place using a clear elastic band. We're not going to be able to see anything that's here, so you don't have to be too concerned about that.

So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to tease this top section of

hair using by rat tail comb, take a thin little section, brush the hair

up, tease straight back. So keep teasing until you get the desired

height and shape, and don't worry about making it too big because I'm

going to also twist and kind of push up the style also. So we'll get a

little bit more volume that way. I like to use a boar hair brush to

smooth the hair. Keeps it really, really shiny, but it also doesn't

remove your teasing that you just did.

Now I've just taken that top section, that's right above the section that

we made earlier, holding it in my hand and just smoothing it back, so

you can see this section is just right on the top. I've taken it, I've

twisted it, and I've pushed it up, until I get as high as I want, and

then your going to pin that into place. Make sure it's nice and secure. And if you're doing this yourself don't be afraid to put more pins in if you need more pins.

Now we're going to move to the side. We're going to keep a little edge out around the face and we're going to take this section and we're going to twist it in right next to that section, and then you're going to pin that into place. So now you're going to do the same thing to the other side. You're going to leave a little bit out

around the face. Grab you're smoothing brush. Kind of smooth as you go.

And I'm going to give it a little twist. I'm going to try to line it up

with the other side and then I'm going to set that in place using a

bobby pin. Then you want to take a look from the front and see how much

of the front you want to pull back. I always leave a little bit of hair

out around the face because we always want things to look kind of soft.

So then you can decide how much hair you want to leave in the front.

Now, I'm going to try to create a really pretty drape effect here. So

what I'm going to do is I'm going to take the hair, hold it between my

two fingers, smooth it back, and I'm actually going to grab my bobby pin

and I'm going to take it and I'm going to pin it in backwards. I want

to create a nice beautiful drape that way.

So now we're going to see what's happening on the other side. I'm going to smooth it back in the direction I want it to go, stick my bobby pin in, then I'm going to

twist it backwards and stick it in. Now, I would take this back section

here and decide how full you want it to be and then you can always pin

it anywhere. So you could always kind of drag it out to the side.

What I love about this look is it's the look of a ponytail without an

actual ponytail. So it's just a smooth draping of hair to the back. Lets

everybody know how long your hair is but just creates a beautiful shape

and that's the one ponytail updo.

I'M going to show you how to create a one ponytail updo, if you have long hair - and you want to show how long your hair is instead of doing like a half upper half down, I think a pony look is a beautiful alternative. And if you need more pins now we're going to move to the side, I'm going to keep a little edge out around the face and we're going to take this section and we're gon na twist it in right. Next to that section, and then you're gon na pin that into place so now, you're gon na do the same thing. To the other side, we're gon na leave a little bit out around the face.
