Foreign, I'm glad that you clicked on this video, because this is the only ponytail tutorial you'll ever need for the rest of your life. Today, I'm going to show y'all how I do my slick flat, no hump in the back ponytail on my thick natural hair, but first we're gon na need a couple of things. So you're gon na need some thick stretchy hair ties, preferably a lot um. These two Combs the pattern - Beauty detangling brush I'll talk more about this later you're gon na need your good brush. You'Re gon na need an edge brush a couple hair clips. Some got to be glue, hair gel and the freeze spray. Some foam wrap lotion, some hair gel some air control, some finishing spray, a spray bottle, a hair dryer a paper plate, trust me and a hand towel all right. So let's get into styling so first things. First, I'm starting this off with freshly washed and conditioned hair. Just shake it out a little bit and um, but then we're gon na go through and we're gon na. Just do a part like right across my whole head from ear to ear rough. It don't have to be neat put that top in a ponytail and we're gon na start detangling if you're not detangling with this brush, and you have thick hair, I don't know what you're doing go to Target go to Ulta get this brush. Thank me later. Okay, yes, add it to your card absolutely so I'm going to just detangle um. I know it look like I'm being a little rough with my hair. You know the girls know how I get down with my hair and things like that. Um, I'm gon na tell you something. This should look thick on camera, but I promise you in person is 10 times thicker. Okay, you need some elbow grease with this I'ma hit it with a blow dryer, I'm just doing like. Oh this, my Dyson. This is my baby girl, um yeah. I love her too, and I just I don't do no heat protecting or nothing. I just you know what I'm saying hit it with a blow dryer real, quick, try to like stretch it as much as possible, and then I put in I braid each each section to try to like you know, keep it stretched and detangle. You know we're gon na do this for each section, that's the key to having thick hair sections. I got ta work, my stamina back up, because the fact that I got tired - and I'm only on the second section is - is alarming. Okay, like girl, you got a whole lot more to go foreign straight down the middle. I know y'all see the girl if I know y'all, see the edges, okay, another braid and the last one. So I tried to make sure I didn't want to speed any of this video up, because I wanted to be a very thorough um tutorial for you guys so yeah we're gon na take those braids out that we just put in and now we have fully Bill. Dried stretched, hair we're going to take apart, go straight down the middle. This is like just like a rough draft. It don't have to be straight right here then we're going to take another one, and then we're gon na go like right behind the ear so like these parts are like. I don't even know what the shape is to describe them, but they're, not straight Parts they're like curved and you take another one on the other side and you do another part. So now you got two sections in the front, then you're gon na split the back up into thirds and then we're still doing like these curved Parts. You know - and you can see on this one so yeah we're splitting it back up into thirds and now I'm gon na. Oh, is this my concoction? Yes, this is the this. Is the Krabby Patty secret formula right here? Okay, you take! This got to be glue. Gel put it this way, your paper plate come into play at right here, put it on the paper plate and then you take your free spray and you spray it up. There y'all Ming Lee taught me this, but she used it for her lace, but this is this. Is this? Is the bee's knees for the jail? Okay? Y'All? Listen y'all hear that I need to do some ASMR because yeah, that's my hair anyways, so I'm gon na take those hair clips and just clip the front two sections out the way the concoctions should look like that. Now this first, it's like. I call this like my anchor ponytail. I actually just really made that up. I that just sound good um, so we're gon na take that concoction and put it all over um. You want to get a comb and comb through because that's what's gon na really make sure that this thing stay flat. You take the brush and you take the comb, but really that comb though - and this is where you want to position your ponytail at so how high up you put. This is um where your ponytail is going to be. I try not to put my ponytail like too low um, because I don't want to pull too much on um the back, so yeah just positioning your ponytail wherever you want to put it at and you take a hair tie. You want to wrap that thing around. Maybe like two times, you don't want it to be too tight because we got a lot more hair ties to go. Then you take your blow dryer and you blast it with the cool air. Okay, you got ta hit it with the cool air. That'S gon na lock every hair into place; okay, a little bit more um detangling with each section, and then you know you're, just gon na slather that concoction all over there, I'm moving the ponytails up to the front because they got in the way so yeah we're Gon na make them look like little antennas real cute, and you don't want to miss nothing with this. You don't want to miss nothing. You put that all over, like, like you doing a perm, okay, see that comb and you want to like you know what I'm saying you want to kind of feel your scalp when you, when you combing it once you got it nice and smooth. You take another hair tie and you combine all of the ponytails all of the sections. Okay, I wrapped this one around a lot. I didn't realize that, but yeah just make sure it's not too tight, and then you blast it with the freeze with the you know. What I'm saying with the? What is that a blow dryer girl get it together? Okay, so you're gon na run out of concoction, but you need to make it as you go, because if you don't it will dry, so you need fresh concoction. So with the front sections you take a diagonal part from the middle of your head to like yeah y'all, see, and then I'm also going to do it on the other side too. This is like this technique is the key to getting this flat y'all and then, when you, when you slather this on air, I don't really like that. Word slather, I don't um yeah when you put this on there, you want, to put it make sure like. If your hair is short, you cover the ends, so you want to go from root to ends like in the front like if your hair might not reach all the way back there for referral without poking out. You want to put that from the root to the tip, but for the hair that can kind of reach you just can like put it. You know what I'm saying you ain't got to put it from the root to the tip. Then you want to comb this through, especially the top you want to comb this all the way through all right, foreign, don't be shy with it. Okay, I put my clip in to get that out the way and yeah you want to comb that back use the palm of your hand to Glide that back y'all, I'm telling you this the flattest ponytail you ever had in your life, I'm not lying. I can't! I cannot tell a lie. You take a good brush see. This is what I meant by good brush right. Your good brush is the brush that you don't know where you got it from, but it's real dense and it's like it's real strong and it it's a real. It got good grip on it. It'S a real good brush. It ain't got no brand on it. You remember where you got it from so you'll never want to lose it like. That'S your good brush. You can't even take that out the house, because if you lose it you're done for okay, everybody got good brush. So, as you can see, I'm like literally putting this all over and going straight through with that comb and pushing it back, and you literally cannot skip a step with this, like the detangling. The blow drying, like everything like makes a difference so yeah once you do, that you combine those two sections and you get another hair tie. We need a hair tie, we need a hair tie counter on the screen and then you uh just freeze it in this space. Freeze it in whatever that I was about to say, girl, it's late, I'm getting tired, you freezing into place, okay with the cold um and you break a hair tie, that's mandatory thick hair, at least yeah at least one. So then I take some edge control right. I'M using this 24 hour Edge, tamer and um. This is how you're gon na get your part like straight. You know what I mean: don't use too much of this, because this will dry with a white cast Okay and it will - and it will look very - it will get very much wax the museum and your part, and so, if you, wherever you put this in, you Got ta make sure you rub this all the way in because it don't it don't drop you if it's not rubbed in and now you guessed it we're doing two more sections, so you want to do two more diagonal sections and because we put the edge control Right there we can tie that part up the middle part up and we'll be just fine, and I told you you want to go above it. You want to go, lift that thing up get underneath it. You see that yeah and all the hair just melt together into one helmet and that's what you want you wan na you wan na helmet. That'S that can't be penetrated by anything. It'S literally damn near bulletproof, I'm I shouldn't say that, but yeah, it's pretty hard! Combing out all the way through, I thought I was gon na take myself seriously on this on this on this voiceover, but y'all, I'm just chatting I'm just up here talking. I can't believe I'm back in my Duffy y'all, I'm making hair tutorials again bro, hair Jayla is back. I'M not bald, headed no more like hair Jayla is back. Can you believe it? I can't believe it. Oh it's a good day. It'S a good day, I'm just as excited as y'all. Are it's a great day. I feel so good doing this tutorial. Y'All, it's like content. You know what I'm saying we loved it watching this video back is so satisfying. Okay, okay, so another hair tie yes, and we just gon na freeze that into place on cool air y'all, see me holding that button. Okay, so now see. Look, our part is still perfectly in place, and now this is the part that really matters you want to go through and really detangle this fully the top layer make some more concoction y'all that I'm telling y'all this right here cracks the code just like that, and Then just apply that I think I do this from root to tip and think. The reason why I like this, like concoction, is that it's not waterproof, so it gives very much bulletproof, but it's not waterproof, so you're not stuck with it. You know what I mean, so it don't like start to. Stick, it don't be stiff. You know you can still work with your hair. Why are you doing it yeah? I just went ahead and applied this from root to tip, and then you take that comb and you take that palm and you just smooth that thing down girl it's flat and then you take a good brush and just you know, follow up. I think I had to mix some more yeah. I did don't be shy, you know, what's new, you know I'm saying using whole containers half of the containers. That'S that's not new foreign that all the way through I try to start from. You know what I'm saying from the tip, but it still be very difficult. You know it's just foreign like the easier it's gon na lay okay, so I think right here is the part where so you see, the back is not really like. Lay all the way down you see where it's kind of starting to like yeah. I know you see that I don't know how to explain it, but yeah like right at the end of the part in the crown of my head, so you want to lift up. You want to lift up those pieces like that that, like little section and then you want to create, like you know what I'm saying almost like a veil over the back like a cover-up like and you want to spread it and then comb it and then yes And you smooth it out this ensures that flatness, okay, we don't want it to be hard on the surface and then feel like a loofah on the inside. We don't like that hair tie with a with a good amount of stretch. You know I, like I, don't like a real small. It'S like a medium sized one. Um. That'S got a lot of elasticity to it. I didn't know I wrapped this around so many times yeah. Then you know what I'm saying you just hit the little. The little pool at the end, not too much though, because you don't want it to be pulling and tugging it uncomfortable. And then I just take some more like the last little bit of that concoction and then just kind of do like a a film layer over it all and y'all already know. What'S coming next, we blast it. Okay, I thought I was gon na get the blow dryer, I got a blow dryer. You know what I could have really left my ponytail just like this, because the ponytail was eating all right. This was a real cute ponytail. I could have left it um, but I decided to define it, but I think I sit up here and I blow dry this for a little while so I'm gon na stop talking now, but I told y'all, I wasn't going to speed this video up or nothing. So I was gon na, let y'all enjoy it and it's like real time in this entirety. Like look at that that's a beautiful shot. I said I was gon na stop talking here. I am still talking all right. So then I take some mousse foam wrap lotion. The pattern - Beauty, y'all, listen me and pattern Beauty. We like right here with it. Okay, like I, really think, Miss Tracy Ellis Ross, cracked, a cold I was even thinking about you know I was like wow. I could do a hair care line, but it would have to be better than pattern, Beauty and like it it just. I just don't know if that's possible. Okay, so then I'm gon na use my gel that I use, which is um wet line extreme to go ahead and um just sew. Those curls can stay locked in, but yeah like I, I nobody competes like I'm not even kidding like pattern. Beauty is, I think, a like best. Overall, you know the shampoos, the styling products, like the tools like chef's kiss. So I decided I mean this right here. You can do anything you can do you know what I'm saying a wrap around ponytail. You can leave it like this. You can do um a sock bun. Like me, I decided to do a little black girl, sock bun. I had one this one of these in a minute might wan na. Do me a cute little sock bun the girls used to eat bees in middle school and high school. Then we start getting fancy and putting them at the top of our head. That was that's crazy. Then Claire started selling a little foam pieces all right, I'm getting sidetracked, Okay, so um yeah, just taking that hair tie and putting that over and y'all look at that. That thing is so flat. Baby come on now, all right! We not done no we're not finished. So now I told y'all I'm just going through and making sure that that um edge control is all Blended in and uh. So for my edges, because my entire head is like glued down um, you take a water bottle and you take that towel and that you just literally wipe over it and your edges will come loose and you will be able to style your edges. That'S why I like this. I like this technique. I like these products because um I can still manipulate my hair, so I just um pull out my baby hairs and then um get my edge control and I like edge control because, like it's waxy um, I don't really like using like got to be on my Edges, it gets crusty um and the edges never gave crusty like the edges. Just don't get crusty. I feel like it takes away the essence when they get crushed on them and also I don't know too much about that 24-hour. Even it's given 24 minutes um yeah. It'S not my favorite. We almost done y'all, oh my god. It feels so good to be back. Oh my God. I can't believe this. This is crazy. I hope y'all enjoying this tutorial. Okay, come on finishing touches. Dang. We really yeah paying attention to them. Baby. Okay, more baby ears, all right, cool I'll, just sit back. Okay, so for the finishing touches we're going to take a finishing spray right and this is um hold on. Let me wait for it to come on the screen. Oh design, Essentials reflection and this is not going to break the cast, but it's definitely going to give it some like shine. So it doesn't look as dull and y'all see that, like it's given so long like yeah, we didn't put an ounce of moisture in this bun and yet that is gleaming. Do y'all see her Shining even in the dark baby. Yeah, that's crazy. I hope y'all enjoyed this tutorial check the description box for everything that I use. I love y'all and I'll see y'all in my next one peace out,
