Let’s be real- there are a ton of products made today that are marketed for natural hair. And while I suffered with being a product junkie for a while (buying and practically wasting hair products), I no longer have any intention to have a drawer stocked with unnecessary items.

So in between thinning out my hair stash, what do I HAVE to keep ready? Below are my six favorite products that I can’t live without!

Queen of Curls Black Soap Shampoo

Let me start by telling you that I don’t shop a lot of store brands, nor do I use products with harsh chemicals. This black soap shampoo has about 5-7 ingredients, is all natural, and cleanses my hair very well without stripping it of moisture.

It doesn’t take a lot of product to fully cleanse my hair, and it’s a great size. On the bottle it states that it’s safe to use every 7-14 days, and I thoroughly wash my hair maybe once a week, so this works out perfectly.

Shea Moisture Conditioner

Shea Moisture

Shea Moisture* was one of the first brands I was introduced to when I started my hair journey, and to this day I still can’t decide what my favorite conditioner is.

Shea Moisture* conditioners are very moisturizing, and they help melt tangles out of my head in minutes. A very well known natural line, Shea Moisture products* don’t contain and harmful ingredients, and they have a decent price point (around $10/ bottle). This is a brand that everyone should try at least once.

Mielle Organics Babussu Oil Deep Treatment

This product is still one of my favorite deep treatments to this day. One of my favorite things about this deep treatment is that it only needs to be left on for 15 minutes to achieve optimal results.

It has a great peppermint* fragrance, and is like doing a moisturizing protein treatment at one time. My hair always feels stronger, softer, and easier to Detangle after use. It also leaves visible shine!

CinagrOrganic Argan Oil* Leave in Conditioner*

Hydratherma%20Protein%20Leave%20in%20Conditioner*%20

Although I don’t use this leave in conditioner* everyday, I think it’s vital to my hair journey. When my hair starts feeling a little off, like brittle or more prone to breakage, I combine this protein based leave in with a moisture leave in to add strength to my hair.

This is a great alternative for when I don’t have enough time to do a full protein treatment, but I still want to care for my tresses. This product is truly a favorite.

CinagrOrganic Vitamoist

CinagrOrganic

I’ve been using this lightweight styler for over a year, and I always get great results from using it (coincidentally, after using this product for 6 weeks, I felt comfortable enough to finally cut the remainder of my transitioning ends). Vitamoist is perfect for achieving twist outs, braid outs, Bantu knots, and other styles.

It gives good hold and awesome shine. It’s also never left my hair feeling hard or crunchy. It’s also enriched with vitamins* to promote hair growth with continued use.

These are my six favorites. They’re mostly indie brands (non mainstream), but they’re much better than many store bought brands in my opinion.
