Christmas Hairstyles, Candy Cane French Braid With Ribbon

For more hairstyle ideas, please visit our site: http://princesshairstyles.com

We did this fun Christmas style for a Holiday party at my daughter's school. I realize this type of style may not be for everyone, but my daughter loved it. ;)

We used lace french braiding to create this curved candy cane braid. If you don't know how to french braid, this look could be accomplished by making a regular 3 strand braid and pinning it into place with bobby pins. This style can be done with or without the ribbon, whichever you prefer.

Merry Christmas!

Hi guys today we're going to be doing a fun Christmas hairstyle and it's going to be a candy cane braid and to start this out, you just want to make a square shape on top of her head just by making parts. So after you get the square parted out, you're going to be starting the braid over in this corner and then bringing it around in the shape of a candy cane. So you just want to grab a small section of hair on that side and you're going to start braiding down here at the bottom. So just grab three sections like you would a normal French, braid and then just begin braiding and to do the French part of this. It'S going to be a lace braid, so you're only going to bring in hair from this side and you're beginning down on this corner, but as you're braiding up the hair, you want to curve the braid just like a candy cane would be so your next section, You'Re going to bring it in closer to the front of her head and just kind of pull that braid upwards as you're going, so I'm still bringing it more forward. Once you get about to the middle of her head, then you're going to start bringing it back down. I think I'm about at the middle. So now I'm going to grab the sections and start pulling it down towards the back of her head and as you're coming around this corner, now you're going to start bringing in hair from this side of the braid. It'S still a lace braid, but instead of grabbing from this side now you're going to grab from here what this does is it just pulls the braid in the other direction. I am working with her hair while it's wet, you can do this with dry hair as well. The reason I'm doing it wet is that I'm going to be putting in some curlers and she's going to sleep on it tonight, so that she'll have curls in the morning. You can go down with this as far as you want just kind of look at it and decide when you want to stop when it looks most like a candy king shape, I guess, and then you can just braid it down without bringing in here a little Bit further and tie it off all right, so here we are the next day her braids actually held up pretty well overnight and she's got some cute curls. But I'm not really happy with how this is laying right here and the part is showing when I was braiding this. I really should have grabbed some hair from up here and added it in to cover that up, but I didn't, and so what I'm going to do is just grab some hair right now and kind of pull it over and just add it in with that elastic. We'Re just going to add in some ribbon to this so that it looks more like a candy cane and I've just got a plastic craft needle. You can find these at any craft store or even like Walmart, and then I've just ran some thread through it or some ribbon some thin ribbon and I'm just gon na start at the top of the braid and pull it right through the top until the ends Are about the same length and then I'm just going to sew it all the way down this braid kind of add a diagonal.
