Elastic Christmas Tree Hairstyle & Bun

This week we are kicking off the holiday season with a festive Christmas tree hairstyle! And, I think this might be our favorite Christmas hairstyle to date. We love how easy and simple this pretty updo style is to create, yet it looks so unique, cute, sweet, and elegant. This X-mas hairstyle would be perfect for many occasions this holiday season: Christmas parties, meeting Santa, holiday photos, Christmas dinner, Christmas morning, holiday parades, school, church, recitals, concerts, Christmas shopping, making holiday treats, decorating the Christmas tree, making gingerbread men, etc.

You may remember a similar style we did on my little toddler niece several years ago as a "candy corn" with the elastics on the side/top of her head going into a side ponytail. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqnmbA...) As mentioned in our video tutorial, this elastic tree positioned on the back of her head and bun combination is inspired by a "candy corn" hairstyle that has been trending on Instagram this Fall. The first thing I thought of when I saw this style was, not only is this adorable as a candy corn... but it would also make a fabulous Christmas tree! Many Instagramers have posted the candy corn hairstyle recently and I wanted to share a few awesome accounts that we saw it on: @pr3ttygirl79 @simplystranded @brownhairedbliss @twogirls_hairstyles @jespi09 @toddlerhairideas @prettyhstyle3029 @kares84 I know there are more and don't want to leave anyone out! If you posted this style, feel free to leave your Instagram in the comments and we will check it out. :)

You can create any type of bun that you want at the top of the tree (a donut bun, sock bun, messy bun, braided bun, twisted bun, rolled bun, etc.) We decided on a triple braided bun. Step by step instructions for that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td2Jdg...

Of course, you can leave your tree "as is" or you can decorate it and make it more glamorous if you want. A star or angel at the top would be beautiful, as well as ribbon, ornaments, glitter, gems, lights, etc.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

Hey guys today we're going to be doing a Christmas tree hairstyle and, oddly enough, this style was inspired by a Halloween candy corn style that has been going around on Instagram and the minute I saw it. I thought it would make a cute Christmas tree, so we are going to try it out, I'm starting by sectioning off a piece of hair here in the back, I'm just going maybe an inch up from her hairline and I'm just going to go straight across and With the rest of his hair, I'm just going to put it up into a temporary ponytail just to keep it out of my way for now. So, as you can see, I didn't take the time to smooth this out or anything. I just threw it up quickly into a ponytail and the reason being that I'm going to make our tray down here, and I want to see where it goes up on her head, so that I can place it in the right spot when we finally put it In now, with this hair that we left out, underneath I'm going to split it into four even sections and then I'm just going to add a small elastic at the top of each one of those okay. I went ahead and put that first row in a few tips that I would give you you want to be working with little tiny elastic, so you don't have to wrap them around her hair. Like a million times, we got ours at Walmart, they're, just goodie brand and then you're going to want to keep these elastics even like you, don't want one of them clear down here or one clear up just try to make an even line for the next row. I'M going to be splitting these two ponytails in the middle in half and then we'll combine them so that we have three ponytails a total now, depending on you, how big you want this Christmas tree to be. You can space these out close together for a smaller tree or you can bring it down a little bit further for a bigger tree. I'M going to be spacing ours pretty close together, because I don't want the bun like clear up on top of her head. So I split these two in half and formed this little one here in the center for the rest of them. I'M just going to take the two over here and combine and then the two on this side and combine and again you want these straight across okay for this next row. Again, I'm going to split this Center wind in half and then I'm just going to combine it into these outside edges to form two more and then this last row is going to be the top of the trees. So you just want to combine everything together into a point. You can either use a yellow elastic for the star or you can just keep going with the green or if you have an accessory like a star, clip or barrette. You can put that at the top. Okay, now that I have all those elastics in I'm just going to lift this up and check to see where it ends. So I'm just kind of taking a visual of where that needs to be, and I'm going to place the ponytail up just a little bit higher than that, so that when I make the bun it's not covering the top of that tree, so I'm just going to Go ahead and smooth all of this hair out and make a nicer ponytail, and then we will be right back now. Let'S his hair in the ponytail, you can make any kind of bun you want. You can do a donut bun or a messy bun. We'Re actually going to do our triple braided bun and if you haven't seen that I'll have it linked below, but I'm just going to split this into three pieces, I'm going to braid each one and then I'm going to braid it together. Okay, now that I have those three braids done, I'm just going to take them and loosely braid them together and now I'm just going to take this and wrap it around itself and then pin it into place and before you pin that you'll just want to tuck The end in I usually just lift up the edge and just push that right in and then you can kind of hold into place with the bobby pins. Okay, now, for the final touch, we're just going to add a little accessory, we found this at Sally Beauty Supply and we're just going to put it at the very top of that tree kind of like a star. It'S a finished Christmas tree hope you have a happy holiday season.
