My name is Lucy, I'm a 25-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.

On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.

If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.

Hey guys welcome to my 2018 Christmas hair tutorial this year. I wanted to challenge myself. As you may know, finger waves, and just 20s hair in general is the bane of my existence. It is something I struggle with so much so I wanted to challenge myself today and have another go at finger waves, and today I'm actually going to do a cheat way to achieve these finger are kind of Marcel waves, so we're actually going to use a curling Iron and if you want to know how to do this, hairstyle really pretty sleek style for the holidays, then be sure to keep off watching to start. I am going to separate out my parting, which is going to be pretty low because that gives the most kind of vintage cheap vibes. So I'm gon na start pretty much about love. The arch of my eyebrow so break that and then I'm gon na go to about the same level. On the other side, with my other eyebrow, I'm going to gather all of that and clip it away in a bun right on top just for now. While I work on the rest of the hair, which is going to create the shenyang, so all of the rest of my hair, I am going to now just take off my glasses for a second here, I'm going to brush back into a sleek low ponytail. Take any hair elastic, I'm going to tie this off and then, when I have my last little loop here, I'm going to just pull the hair through a little bit, but not all the way so that it creates a little bit of a beginning of a chignon. Here, just gon na make this a little bit bigger, and this is really the time to adjust how big you want to make your bun. So there's going to be my bun right here and then all the rest of this hair. I'M just going to take that and wrap it around a hair elastic that I have here and then thin this with a few bobby pins to make sure it lasts okay. So there is your basic bills. You know, and now it's time to work on the actual faux finger wave, slash Marcel, wave part of the hairstyle, so I'm gon na do it on this little portion of hair. So this is the hair that is going to be heat styled. So I am going to spray it with a heat protector, just gon na brush this through to make sure the product is distributed evenly. So now, I'm gon na give this a couple of minutes to completely dry before I move on to the next step. So I'm going to work in a couple of sections here, I think about three should be good, so I'm gon na start with the lowest section first, and I separate that out. So the other two-thirds I'm just gon na clip away again. Basically, what we want to do is create the illusion of a finger wave without actually finger waiting, the hair. So what we're going to do is take a curling iron that has a clip and we are going to alternate the direction in which this is placed on the hair in order to kind of recreate the S waves made on wet hair with hens. So it's a little bit of a cheat method, a little bit easier to do. In yourself, I find that traditional finger waves are really hard to do and I'll be completely honest. I haven't managed to do a good set of finger ways yet so I'm going to start with one curl with the clip pointing up and I'm going to push down my hair quite firmly on the curling iron. Now let go I'm going to hold it here for a few seconds just to give that curl the opportunity to cool down a little bit alright. So now I'm going to flip my curling iron around and have the clip on the lower part, and I'm going to this time, hold it just below that wave that we just made and I'm going to pull my hair up the release and again hold this. For just a few seconds give me Harry the opportunity to sit and wrap the hair around the bottom. Now, while you're doing this, you want to make sure not to pull on the top of the hair. The part that's already curled or you're, going to lose everything already done, and now it's honestly up to you how far you want to keep going, I'm going to keep doing this until the curled hair is long enough to reach into vision. Y'All that I have in the back, so I think I need to do at least one more round. You can already tell how we're getting that gorgeous when things wave pattern going on here, so I'm going to grab the end tail of this, bring it back to the chignon and I'm just going to pin it down there with a hair pin just temporarily. While I work on the rest of the hair here, alright so time to move on to the next third of hair, I have here now. What you do you want to keep in mind is that we are starting a little bit further away now. So what we're? Actually going to do is this time, instead of starting with the barrel down clip up, I'm gon na start with me put down the barrel up just so that we hopefully match up with the curl underneath in the next round. Now this bit is a bit trickier for me personally, just cuz, I'm trying to incorporate my bangs in here as well, try to make it work now, of course, it is up to you how deep you want to make these waves a smaller curling iron will give You a bit of a more authentic twenties effect, but you know it all depends on what you have available and also how far away you space these waves out manually, it's time to do the last one. So this time I'm gon na start with the barrel down clip up again all right. So now we have all the ways take down. The previous two first make sure they kind of all align with each other. So you get a uniform curl pattern in here. Okay, so now we have the basic curl pattern in is going to be much easier to do the actual finger weight. So I'm gon na take my comb again and the first wave is rather easy to identify because it's you know on top. Obviously so I'm basically going to take this indentation place my finger in there gon na place. My comb like to see my finger and push it back like that and place my finger there again and I'm going to take a duckbill clip, I'm going to slide it in right where this finger is and take over there. So then, I'm gon na do pretty much the same thing with the next wave. I'M going to slide my comb back in and push forward. First, is this one walls going back? I'M gon na take another finger and push back get a clip in here. So then, with all the hairs that are remaining at the end, I just need to wrap that around my bun as well and pin it down with a bobby pin and now this portion, I'm going to spray down with a lots of hairspray and I'll. Give us a few minutes to completely dry all right. It has all dried so now it is time to remove the clips again now, if you have a few pieces still sticking up here and there, like, I have one right here. You can just take one of these hair pins. Just a simple little hair pin and gently slide it in there in other ways, you're gon na force it down to your head all right, then so after the whole thing has been hair, sprayed and done. This is the finished results. We have a really pretty faux finger wave going on down the side and then a nice little simple Shenyang in the back. It'S nice and sleek hair style a little bit of something different for me. You guys know. I prefer my messy era kind of more casual boho hairstyles, but I feel like a sleeker hairstyle like this, so unless you put a little more effort into is really nice for the holiday. Evelyne Ca: I'm definitely trying this! And I hope for NY 2020 next year everyone goes full on fingerwaves and 20's style. I'll better start practicing this year ;) Also hii Lucy, what brands/ types of heatprotecting spray do you use? Or what kind of product should I look out for? I can't find any in the store and I bought one online but it turns out to be an oil to help straighten your hair when you style it. (I was hoping to curl it) Much love from your neighbour in Belgium x

LaceBird: The lights behind you are so pretty! They make the video look so cozy!

Lynz Holmes: So strange I was searching for fingers waves tutorials I’m going to wear this for Christmas Day and then your video popped into my subscriptions! Thank you

SushiBatunshi: I adore this hairstyle soo much . I'll definetly try it out this Christmas~. Happy Holidays and thank you so much for all the amazing hairstyles you share

LeilaniV: It looks so classy! I Wonder how Girls used to get those fingerwaves back in those years I would love to find a no heat way to get those waves Great tutorial Loepsie

Krystal Lights: This hairstyle looks so good ❤❤❤

K E L L S E Y: You are so pretty! I love the way you simply explain a technique and it comes out beautiful.

fire and sugar: Theres a super easy way to do them by wrapping your hair around fabric and they come out very prominent. I've done it a few times and the result is always great! Theres a video on YouTube where I got the technique. 'No heat waves bandana wraps' I think the videos called and it's by princess hairstyles. Hers come out a lot looser but in real life when I've tried it tighter it makes the most incredible finger waves!

pap3rwings: Elegant! I have a mini waving wand that actually produces a very similar look and it only just occured to me that it's basically finger waves, haha.

fictionalhuman: Very elegant and classy!

Kathy: When your hair is too short to make a chignon or even a ponytail so you gotta finger wave the entire head

Ellen H: Your makeup is so so pretty in this video! Would you mind making a video showing how you got this beautiful, elegant and chic makeup? Lots of love :) x

Cotton Candy Nation: I actually have a wave iron that creates waves similar to this so that makes it a bit easier for me :D

Devinder Singh: Beautiful.. love it but couldn't make the perfect like you...

ParisTexas: I'm sure you've already seen this, but just in case you didn't. https://historydaily.org/marcel-waves-step-step-tutorial-1920s They seemed to have a special kind of curling wand for it.

Beth Victorsson: Love this. It reminds me of Olive Oyle from Popeye. Hehe

하마다라나: Very merry chrustmas ... and u look so cute with it

Gabriel Hanssens: 0:15 I really feel you marcel waves from the 1910s to the 1930s go just "nope" on my hair

winkerbean1: Possibly stupid question: Why not use a triple barrel waver? I have 2 of them, one is for small waves, the other is about the size of your curling iron. I'm sure there's a reason, but it gives the same effect. :)

Cotton Candy Nation: You are so beautiful!

Ken Leung: Are you using 1 inch clip barrel from T3?

anna burtenheim: the better way of creating finger wayves is useing a flat iron. it isnt easier. thats for sure. and its hard to explain. but as a hairdressing student whos teacher forced finger waves on us using both the hair dryer methode and the flat iron i can tell you its much easier to "fake" it using a flat iron. you have to spread the hair, flaten it towards the way you want the wave to start along with giving it a gentle curve. it gives a much more autentic look :)

Daniela Valle: Saludos desde México ♥️

Cara Wheeler: Try Sam Villa's finger wave with iron tutorial. He displays a good twist technique that will make your wave tighter. Love your videos!!

Bushra Gardezii: Besttt i love you❤❤❤

18 12: I think, u resembles Mihrimah Sultan, so beautiful

Бексултан Султанбек: Красавица ТЫ похожие на султаншу МЕХРИМАХ дочь Хюрем султан❤

SADDAM BALOCH: Dutch women's are like.men no.no.i.can't talk to them

Orkedya Norma: Mihrimah sultan
