Braided Ornament Hairstyle Tutorial, Christmas Hair

We wanted to fit one more Christmas hairstyle in for you this year and decided on this unique braided ornament. The inspiration for this style comes from a braid we posted a couple of years ago on our channel (which we named the "cookie cutter.") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWG4bp... We decided to try a variation of this braid and frame the center of the style with lace French braids in a circular shape, which we were hoping would resemble a round ornament ball! As shown in our tutorial, we added a pompadour in her bangs area and brought the rest of her hair back into a ponytail. Of course, if you would rather braid the ponytail or wrap the remaining hair into an updo, you could do that instead. Fancy holiday accessories such as a bow, or holly could be added to dress up this ornament.

This hairstyle would be great for Christmas, a holiday party, school, church, New Years Eve, or other special event.

Hey guys today we're going to be doing an ornament hairstyle and I started by making a triangular party just on the top of her head. So it kind of comes to a point here in the back and then I've just clipped these sides out of the way for now, so that they don't get mixed in with the hair and I'm going to be making a little pot here on top just so That I have some volume in the front so to do that, I'm going to split this in half and then I'm just going to be adding some teasing here in the front section as well as the section here in the back. I don't want this like extremely ratty and huge, so I'm just adding a little bit of teasing pull this hair back over you'll just want to kind of smooth down the top and then just add an elastic here in the back and then to add a little Bit more volume, I'm just going to come back and pull this out a little bit until it's as puffy as I want it. Okay. So here's what it looks like from the side and then I'm just going to take these clips out and we're going to make a couple of braids. So before I start braiding, I'm going to come right here, kind of underneath where this elastic is at the point of this triangle and I'm going to make a circular parting. So I'm starting right here and I'm going to go down diagonally and then come back around. So that it's a half circle and I'm going to do the same thing on the other side, and you want to try to get it symmetrical. Okay, so now that I've made this circle part here's what it looks like I'm going to take this little ponytail in the center and separate it from the rest of this hair. That'S in the middle and I'm just going to smooth all of this down into a low ponytail. Alright, now that I have that ponytail in place, I'm going to start here on the right side and I'm going to be making a lace, French braid, meaning that I'm only going to be bringing in hair from the front of the braid and not from the back And then we're just going to bring it around in the circle shape to this ponytail here and I am going to get her hair wet before I start just so that we don't have flyaways to deal with. So I've just grabbed a tiny section up here right by this corner and I'm going to start the lace braid here on this side of the braid, I'm not adding any hair in and then here on the front of the braid, I am going to grab a Strand each time and I'm trying to keep this braid right over the part that I made so that it's kind of hidden, but it still forms that circles shape so now that I've added in all of this hair from the side. I'M just going to break this down normally a few times and then clip it off. While I do the other side, so I'm just going to be doing the exact same thing over here, while I'm working on it, I'm just going to flip this ponytail to the other side. So it's not in my way and I'm just going to make another lace. Braid going down and forming the circle all right, I went ahead and braided this other side off-camera. So here is what it looks like at this point, and now we are going to be working on the center part at the ornament and again before I start this. Braid, I'm going to get her hair wet. I'Ve shown this braid before on our channel. We called it the cookie cutter braid, and if you want to check out that hairstyle, I will have it linked below, but you want to start by splitting the hair into three and begin just like you would a regular braid after I have that braided down. Just a few times, I'm going to start removing pieces of hair on each side and I'm going to do that three times on each side. So I'm just taking out a small section before I braid that over and I'm setting that to the side and I'm going to do the same thing over here and I'm just going to repeat that three times on each side of the braid. So before I go on, I'm going to be adding a little bit of product to each of these strands, just so that they will stay separate. You can use pomade gel whatever you want now that I have that product on her hair, I'm gon na start adding these pieces back in. So I've taken this strand here on the right and bringing it over the middle and I'm going to take the Strand. That'S the furthest down, so the last one that I took out, I'm going to add that in and I'm not pulling it tight, I'm going to leave it loose so that it forms a little loop and then same thing. On the other side, I'm coming up to the last round that I removed on this side and I'm going to add it in, and you want to try to get these kind of symmetrical. So I'm here on the right again, I'm going to cross that strand over and come up one piece and add that one in the same way and I'm going to have it sticking out a little bit further than the first one. We added an in-game thing here on this side and then you'll just do the same thing with that last piece and then once you get all of those in you'll just want to braid this down a few more times. If you need to go back and fix these, you should be able to pull up them a little bit. I'M just going to make this side a little bit bigger so that it matches, and then you can just add all three of these braids into the ponytail. At the bottom is the finished style, if you want to add a little bow to the top and to the bottom, you can do that. You could also take a piece of hair and just wrap it around that elastic. If you want to hide it.

Yiyayellow Hairstyles: So beautiful! Excited to try it out!❤️

Alycia Ward: I love how you do your daughter's hair it seems like everyday. My mom never had time to braid and style my hair in the mornings, she only ever did it for weddings and stuff, and I was always jealous of the other girls whose moms would give them all these nice ponytails and braids with ribbons and all that. I only ever had short tangled hair up until middle school and it's like I'm living all my hair dreams through you guys now :)
