These are going to be the biggest fashion trends for 2022, but first i'd like to say a little prayer for high-waisted pants. May they always be in stores. May they always be in style, because this body will keep wearing them? Which brings me to the first big trend for 2022, and that is y2k fashion. I know it, you know it, we've been seeing it come back for a while. We thought it was a joke. It'S not y2k fashion is just gaining momentum and it is still big and going to be bigger in 2022. Does that mean that you have to go and wear low-rise jeans and butterfly tops it does not, but it is going to be a big trend. High-Rise, pants and jeans are not going anywhere at all, but it's just that low-rise pants are becoming kind of a trend, and you really don't have to go there. If you don't like low-rise pants, i will not be so. If low-rise is your thing, please comment below. First of all and say: hi, i'm one of the people that works really well in low-rise pants. Tell us who you are so we can be like moving on to some more trends that i think you'll actually be excited about. Loungewear is nothing new. It'S been a thing for a while, but it's had a major upgrade as a fashion trend. Now we are seeing these two and three piece sets of cozy soft knit loungewear, but it doesn't really belong on the couch. It'S more flattering. It kind of hugs your curves in the right way and you can wear it with heels and a cute purse and go out for the night. I think everyone can agree even the designers that we really don't want to be restricted to tight clothing. Yet i'm sure it'll come back eventually, but we're still kind of in this you know want to be comfortable mode. This is such a great year for outfits that feel like your pajamas, but don't look like them by the way i have linked tons of items in the description box below so anything featured in this video will be linked below if you want to start shopping. These trends right now just hit the down arrow, or i think it's show more. I believe youtube has changed a little bit, but it's in the description box below if you pay attention to trends, which you probably do because you're watching this video but fashion trends, are moving at a such a rapid pace. Right now, something can become a trend and the fast fashion, brands and tick talkers like major influencers splattered all over the internet, so fast that it can seem overplayed and out of style before a lot of big mainstream stores can even have a chance to produce it Or even get it in the stores in front of you and then to a lot of this, it seems like we've already seen it everywhere and it's already out of style, or it's just already kind of like we're over it. So you are probably thinking right now, as a lot of us are that we're just kind of over this rapid, fast fashion. It'S not good for the environment, but also it just comes back to. I just want to wear what feels good to me and what looks good on my body and for my style, and so that is kind of the trend. So in 2022 we are going to see designers produce interesting prints, print on print statement, cuts statement, prints, so you're really going to find a lot of pieces that are unique all in their own and more interesting, rather than following the big trends comment below. If you know what i'm talking about and if you also are very into this, i really feel like a lot of you guys will resonate with this and you're, like i'm so ready to find the pieces that work for me and my style, and not really necessarily Because it's a big trend, i'm not sure it's because of the return of gossip girl to television, but preppy fashion has been making a return and i feel like it's kind of refreshing like i do, love a good boho, vibe and boho esque. You know thing, but the preppy thing it kind of has its place as well, so in 2022 fashion you're going to be able to find those big rugby stripes, shirts, cable, knit sweaters pleated items, pleated skirt and some more structured items that we really haven't seen a Lot lately, we've already seen the sweater vest come back, and so it's kind of a continuation on that whole style or that aesthetic that will get even bigger in 2022.. I also think of that traditional, like ralph lauren kind of look with the greens and the blues and that just really kind of preppy kind of vibe that cruel intentions, kind of look, so cargo pants, if you may or may not know, have been kind of on Trend for a while they've been kind of making a comeback, but they are going to get even bigger. In 2022., you might be cringing at cargo pants. I also was cringing at cargo pants and then i started seeing them styled on people with, like some cute shoes. A fitted top you know some jewelry and kind of made it balanced with the other pieces in their outfit and i feel like it can actually look kind of nice. So a lot of designers have come out with cargo pants or they're, making them a little bit more feminine and a little bit more flattering to a woman's body as opposed to the cargo pants that you know, we used to see that were just literally made to Put tools in that's: not these cargo pants! These cargo pants are for fashion. How do you feel about cargo pants? Do you see your future self in 2022 wearing these kinds of pants comment below how you feel about it? If you think you're going to try it out or if you're like absolutely not bronze worn, as tops under blazers, we've seen a lot, we've seen it on. You know instagram and on influencers on in social media or on a website somewhere. But have you seen it at the grocery store or have you even seen it when you went out for a fancy dinner or anything like that? You probably haven't, and if you did it probably would have still looked like. Did that woman forget her shirt it just it's just it's in new york city and like la it, just quite wasn't quite in regular american towns just yet, but this year the trend is continuing, and so it's getting bigger more people are seeing it. It'S morphing a little bit to where it's a little more wearable, and so i think, you're going to see it a lot more in 2022, maybe even in your own real life, when you walk outside your house, you might even be the one wearing it. I don't really think this is for everybody, but it actually is more wearable than one might think. Let'S see if it works, shall we i've never tried this before i'm going to try it for you, because why not? Okay, i i feel, like i forgot my shirt like this: oh ye. This is a bathing suit top by the way but uh i don't yeah yeah, no just uh. Let'S just really go with it, let's really get into it here, hey, oh! No. I mean i got kids, i got a family, so this is not gon na work. For me, let me try something else. Okay, this is not terrible, so still got. You know the this number on and just put a little belt over it. No, that's not terrible! So this is definitely not for like a tuesday afternoon, but i got one more thing to try all right. If we're being really honest, this might be more where i live. I'Ve got this little like i just i just i can't. I can't show the thing right here, but this is this is my version of that, maybe even something like this a little belt wrapped around it. You know the bra top might not be for everybody, but i do feel like there are ways you can kind of work around it to make it work with your own style. So this year we saw a lot of bold colors. We'Ve seen a lot of bold colors and sweaters and items that don't normally come in bold colors and that's going to continue into 2022., we'll see bright, reds and bright pinks and colors that really stand out. So i'm very much here for this neutrals will always be here and a great wardrobe staple, but the rich colors that are being produced lately are really something to get into and can add a jolt of color to your closet. So another trend we've been seeing the last couple years is more of a movement. Is sustainability, less consumption and more awareness of how we are impacting the environment as consumers? More and more people are choosing to buy less clothing, higher quality clothing that they keep for a long time or forever. That doesn't mean that fast fashion is going anywhere and there is a place for fast fashion, and you know we all love a good, inexpensive garment, but overall we're kind of making better choices in most of our purchases to buy from companies that you know are trying To help the environment or give back, i do think that more and more companies are going to become more conscious. Of this does usually mean a little bit higher price tag, and i just want to say something real, quick. You know fast fashion. Is there because people keep buying it they're, not forcing you to spend your money on these items? I do love fast fashion for a lot of purposes, but in terms of buying things to wear them for a little bit to throw them away. Just seems very, very wasteful. I still think you can buy a fast fashion item and make it part of your wardrobe or part of your life and buy it with the intention of keeping it and wearing it, and you know recycling it or whatever. The case may be, but that is not going to stop as long as there's still demand. Does that make sense, but i am proud of a lot of these companies that are coming out with recyclable packaging or recycled. Leather has been a big thing this year, and companies are giving ways that you can easily resell your clothing like thread up or poshmark it's. So it's a really great movement, that's happening in the fashion world and i'm sure that it'll continue and it's exciting to see where it'll go. So those are predicted to be the biggest trends for 2022. Fat, Fierce and Over Fifty Elizabeth Inman: The fact is, you can make fast fashion, slow fashion. If you take care of your garments and buy less trends, you can make an inexpensive piece last for years. It’s a way for people with a smaller budget to take part. You can also make that butterfly top work for you. Put a tank or a tshirt or even a mesh shirt underneath. Make your clothes work for you, not you for them. Personally, being trendy isn’t for me. I like to be fashionable, meaning way ahead of a trend or above a trend. Wow, that sounds so snotty, I just mean, trends just mean you will find pieces available, how you mix and wear them (or shun them), is up to you. Being young must be so exhausting, even to get dressed in the morning. I still love your videos, it’s nice to see you reworking a trend to suit your needs!
PurpleKat: Some 14 years ago I usted to LOVE low rise jeans! They were my favourite ones, and I was really upset when I couldn't find them anywhere anymore. And then I started analyzing the way I looked wearing them... Suffice to say that now all my pants are high rise, and I'm not planning on going back ;)

Amanda Klaus: I'm so sorry, guys... I know a lot of people hated the low rise trend way back when, and don't care to see it come back around. I totally get it! I'm kind of relieved to see the style return, though. I'm 4' 11" and very short-waisted. Low rise jeans actually fit me like a pair of mid rise jeans would fit an average height person. High waisted pants (even if the tag says they are a "petite" cut) look ridiculous on me, as they usually look like they're swallowing me! I'll enjoy the low rise comeback while I can! Cheers to all!

I was so grateful when high waisted pants came back, and I will continue to wear them! My Dragon: Maybe not low rise jeans but definitely mid rise. I have a short torso so high rise is a no go. I adore cargo pants! Airy, flowy, slightly cropped for summer, or the more classic straight style for Winter, and of course the slim leg all the time. Love em! Go cargo with a pair of gorgeous ankle booties and a bright colored top! Love it!
Lisa Wood: I think im one of very few people who absolutely love low rise. Ive always loved the “mid rif” look as opposed to a crop top & high waisted anything and got most of my low rise pants 2nd hand. I hope it stays “relevant” while I understand most people worry about muffin tops and just in general how they look but i think they can easily suit most “straight sized” body types.
Momma K's Cafe: I am 5 feet tall, short-waisted and love low rise pants! My fave pair are a cargo denim, cropped, low rise I have had since 2000. I only buy 2nd hand and spend very little on great items. I resell as needed on Mercary, Posh, and eBay. Also, I work in an upscale 2nd hand boutique. Thanks for your videos!
Chris Staats: Very interesting. I can’t see myself wearing low rise pants at my current weight. I think I look darn smart in higher rise pants. It would have to be something special and anti-muffin top to win me over. Also cargo pants add bulk on the bottom. Not too sure about that. Sustainability and wear what you like are great. Kimberly Perrotis: I love my beige silk cargo pants from Lily Silk, I just wish they made more colors than beige and black, like navy, khaki, etc. They are sublimely comfortable, super feminine and have an elastic waist, a must for me. These are the only trousers, along with my silk joggers, that I really love wearing, they’re the anti-jeans.
Mychele Ohre: Love Low Rise!!! I have always hated high rise anything. I am so excited this is finally coming back. I am one of the few that has never liked anything snug around my waist, that includes hosiery. Even though I can still wear them with crop tops I choose not to at my age. I wear mine with everything. Honestly I don't know now, what I would like in spring/summer 2022. Today is a cold and rainy day in late fall 2021 and I haven't even worn my items of fall/winter. I now work in a major clothing chain that is known for traditional though I add my won pieces. I always lived the creativity of "shark bite" and similar styles as well as tunics. I am known as the "city's stylist" and I just see pieces together as well as working to help ladies find the beauty that was hidden. I don't buy from fast fashion houses because they exploit children and don't pay a living wage. I protect the environment. If it won't last, why buy to replace???
Lisa Hannah: When I first encountered the low rise in the 2000s I was thrilled because I finally didn't have a gaping waistline. I wore it with a full length shirt for the most part though. Since the age of the Kardashians and the bbl it's possible to find wide hips with smaller waist, and that was pre motherhood... so not planning on going back. MrAshtonone: Yes to low and mid-rise pants, please. I don't like high rise for my body type, but love the look on those it works for! I am all for wearing what looks great on us rather than fast fashion and tend to buy what I like but still relevant. Love that Ralph Lauren look, love cargo pants that look great on us, no to bras for every day, under a blazer for a night out done right (peeking out), or the final style you did. Love rich colors for pops (Yes to the long-term quality wardrobe). I think we can make fast fashion items part of our long-term wardrobes if we make the right choices in what we decide to purchase. I am also not big on being on the cutting edge of fashion trends but like to stay fresh and well put together by adding pieces to my wardrobe so I don't look like every other woman walking down the street but still look stylish. Also, I took a bunch of my low-rise jeans to the consignment boutique and they said "Mmm...you have a lot of good brands but we aren't really looking for the low-rise jeans at this time" So I ended up giving them to Good Will. Shrimpish: I'm here for the low-rise, I used to strictly wear high rise and mom jeans during school and would always get stomach aches because of my jeans, with low-rise I have all the space I need because there is no jean holding my belly back. The key for me is if I have a belly I'll wear a shirt or sweater that will hit at the perfect length to hide it so I don't have to worry but the low-rise peeks slightly.

nikkibhearts: I am one of the lower rise jeans ladies (not super low). I have long legs and a shorter torso. High rise pants make my legs look longer and torso even shorter which is not flattering on me. Just because you wear lower rise jeans, does not mean you need to show your midriff

I find low waisted trousers rly flattering because they can show my waist but also my hips and I feel way more confident than in high rise!

Plus comfy home clothes. No pj's except at bedtime. I homeschool and don't let my kiddos wear their jammies. Getting dressed is fun plus giving the world your best self is important as you said.

I'm noticing the 20-40 year old age range are wanting to buy more vintage/ thrifts pieces because they want to make a one of a kind, individual statement & thoughtful about consumption & waste! Mari Anne: Hi I’m the one that works well (enough) with low rise pants. I find that hourglass and pear shaped body types don’t typically suit low rise if only because their body shape stores fat in areas that are NOT their midsection. That means a really small amount of fat look more VISIBLE on their tummy because it doesn’t have anywhere else to go. I’m a rectangle shape. The low rise works for me because my fat distributed evenly everywhere. (Think peanut butter on bread). So because it’s not concentrated in my hips or any particular area, the low rise accommodates that. Also, the fabric isn’t in the way of my midsection so that nice too. (This comment doesn’t apply for plus sized people as I used to weigh 220 at 5’2” and this did not apply to me then.)

HOLLY HINCKLEY: A few thoughts... I do OK in low rise pants because I am a short stature and short waisted person. I only wear them with long tops, either tucked or untucked. I love the high rise look as well. As for cargos, LOVE them. No better place to put a cell phone than in a leg pocket. I have been buying my cargos in the boy's or men's section of my favorite thrift stores. At 67 years old I have a plethora of clothing I have had since the 90's. My goal is all thrift all the time. Also at 67 you kind of feel like wearing whatever you like and not worrying about others opinions. Great fun.

TruthSpeak: Low rise jeans work for me because I have an extremely short torso with a shorter rise. Low rise for everyone else still has a waistband that comes over my hips (fitting like a midrise). Midrise on me has that weird bunch of material in back and in the fly. Yuk 5'11", 36" inseam to wear flats.
Get Real: I used to wear low rise jeans around the early 2000s and back then they looked amazing on me…no love handles. These days I retain a lot of weight on my hips, and belly and low rise pants do not fit me well. I have a lot of really cool ones that I’ve kept since those days that I might list for sale online. The high rise pants are not always a good look on me also. My body has been really weird lately. I might have developed a medical condition that I am going to get checked out in a couple of days but to make a long story short, I fluctuate in weight significantly from one week to the next. This week I could be fitting into my size 26 jeans again, the next week I can’t squeeze myself into size 28, the week after that I I am back down to size 26 but even though most of the low rise jeans I still own were a size 27, I look like I’ve some serious muffin tops that were not there before. It’s all just super confusing! Maybe the sizing has changed that significantly that what used to be labeled a size 27 back in 2005, would now be a size 25. I do not know. But I’m not sure I even want to know anymore.

Nicole Hilfman: Yes!!! I love low rise! And every man I have EVER talked to, and my husband has ever talked to, say low rise is the most flattering in women. The only pants hight waisted pants look good on are the super skippy yet voluptuous waisted girls, definitely not me or the majority of regular population that I see.
