Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life.

Hi beautiful, i feel like i'm back in school, i've been studying rice, water all damn day long. I'Ve looked up everything, i've researched everything, so hopefully i bring you the most accurate information possible today. Rice water has become such a huge thing. Lately, it is everywhere, and i want to get to the bottom of it. Why are people obsessed with it and is it really growing your hair faster, longer, healthier and stronger, and should you be using rice, water on your hair to make it grow? Rice water seems to be the young woman in china, use this technique to grow their hair to extremely long length, they're actually known to have the longest hair in the world. So today, we're gon na have some fun with rice. I'M gon na show you how to make this concoction and put it on your hair and show you what happens and how it works and what's the science behind it, if any, you guys know, i always tell you the truth about these things. Do i really like them, or do i really not i'm not scared to be like? Oh, this is dumb. Even if everybody loves it, i'm excited to grab some rice. Let'S do it lesson one. What is this and why is it good for your hair, so rice? It'S actually quite a good thing for you, i mean i eat a lot of rice. However, i've never put it on my hair and it seems pretty interesting. It'S filled with amino acids, vitamins, b and e, and also minerals and antioxidants. You'Re getting a moment of a lot of things going on this hair and a lot of those things are included in many products you use in your hair today. So that's great, i mean i love a natural way of getting things that have been produced in the hair care market. So i think this is cool. Sounds great. So far everything i've been hearing about the ingredients, sound legit, so advocates who use rice, water. A lot believes that it detangles your hair quite nicely. It also can make your hair very smooth and silky and soft. As you can see, in these yellow women, they have a very shiny, beautiful black hair and that's how they claim they keep it. That way with this rice, water concoction, it also makes hair very, very strong. You can pull it and pull it every which way, and it won't snap it'll, be beautiful. That'S good for people with any kind of damage in their hair right so seems legit. It also stimulates new hair growth and makes your hair grow faster. Those were my findings and i don't know. Sometimes i don't know if i believe that that seems like a little bit too good to be true for a little bit of rice and a little bit of water. I mean, if you know what i mean it seems like a little crazy. You know what do you think emma yeah it sounds wild. Can i get the enthusiasm? Oh my god, that sounds unbelievable unbelievable. So we have the women to think for this. They actually use this method to wash their hair once a week from my research, that's what they do. Their hair is actually so long. They cut their hair only once in their life when they're 18 believe it or not. That is like them. Turning into a woman uh, that's what they do, they cut their hair off and they grow back long until the day they die. So it is literally to the floor on some of these women and they dip their hair into this rice water solution. They then rinse. The rice water out in the river, pretty cool i'm down for that washing your hair as much as we do in this modern time is actually not really supposed to be a thing and shampoo is man-made. Obviously, and you don't exactly need it to survive. However, many of us most of us have become very dependent on shampoo, but these women claim that they do not use any shampoo and they do not need it, and that is why their hair grows so fast before we start making this concoction and show you how To do it, maybe you're wondering if you're like me and you're a huge skeptic about anything like this. Is there any studies going on? Do we know if this is legit, um kind of skeptical kind of weird sounds freaky? Why are we putting rice in our heads? Emma would you put rice water on your head. I mean after hearing all these reviews. Yes, that's a big fat yas from you. Yes, that's a yes for me! Yes or yes, yes, oh wow, so there was a paper in 2010 that was published because of a company trying to promote their new hair product. So they did this research to go with that. So you know you don't really know how legit the research is when it's backed by a product. The author noted that rice water may increase elasticity of the hair. So that's pretty cool. At least there's been some sort of research done about this because when these kind of like weird concoctions come up i'm like, but do we know. However, the study relies heavily on historical examples to prove the point, so we're kind of like not really getting too much. Research here it's definitely like could work. It could not work, it's still kind of up in the air if it works for you and it works for the young women, maybe we're on to something. So how do you make it brad? Can we get into that already? I'M waiting for it literally like what the brad like you're so annoying. Why can't we just learn how to make this stupid rice, water, i'm sitting here, i'm doing calculations and research. Everybody does a different thing with this rice water. I don't know who's right. However, the young women, i watched a video with them doing it and i trust them the most they're, the ones who like created this technique. So i'm gon na use their technique. So i'm gon na put rice in a bowl with some water and then i'm going to drain out the water that is just to cleanse the rice. I'M gon na put water with the rice again and i am going to scrunch into my fingers clean it all up and it's supposed to be really really nice and clean. This is what the yellow women do. After that's done. You can drain that water out now. They don't really tell you how much rice and how much water to put in this bowl, but i'm gon na do one part rice to two parts: water. Now this water is gon na, be like you know, lukewarm, that's, fine! They don't really specify either on this, but we're gon na guess today and it's gon na start to get a little milky. Looking a little like a little dirty looking, and we like it like that now the yao women - don't just do the rice with the water right a lot of these treatments online. That'S what people do. However, people say it stinks. People say it smells really bad. I don't want to smell bad, and i want there to be more nutrients in here than just some rice. They also add pomelo peel and apparently the grapefruit is the closest to that that you can find in america. So i'm going to take the peels of a grapefruit here and i'm going to cut that up and add all the peels in to my little concoction over here. After that, i'm going to add a little bit of essential oils. You can really add any essential oil. You want i'm going to be adding eucalyptus today, because i want that minty, beautiful smell and just a few drops we'll do once that's all in the jar i'm going to let that sit for one week according to the yeah woman uh fermenting. It is what you must do that is gon na help lower the ph to make it better for your hair um, because if the ph is too high or too low, it could throw off your hair and do all kinds of ugly to it. So we're gon na, let it ferment for one week: you can let it ferment for longer than that, but that's what the young women do. I'M gon na follow the yeah women because they are here for me today. So once we come back after a week, i'm gon na take it out and i'm gon na strain it, and that is the beautiful magic power water that we've been looking for. That is it and all you got ta do now is apply it to your head. Now the yellow women, like i said they wash their hair with this, so they're, not washing it beforehand or after what i'd recommend is using a very gentle shampoo. If you must just on your roots where it gets kind of oily, not on your ends. Nowhere else, and just do a little cleanse - we don't want to get our hair really really clean. Before doing this, the purpose is for it to be a replacement of washing your hair um according to these women, and so we don't want to over wash it or else it'll really dry, your hair once you use the rice water. So once you do that you're gon na dip, your ends in the water and then pour the rest on your scalp and get it all in there and looking beautiful now. They also say to leave this on for 20 minutes on your hair. You can leave it on longer, but i would recommend 20 minutes since that is what these women say. They do and i'm going with that so now you're going to want to rinse this off of your hair. Now you can rinse it. Well, just don't you know overdo it. You know it's okay to have a little bit left on there. You know get it out now. The yaw women use this on their hair to wash it once a week. This is the only thing they use and they use it once a week. So if you're wondering how much you should do this, i would say once a week or once every two weeks, however much you use it, i'm sure you'll see some benefits. So, that's how you do it guys, that's how you make it and i hope you um you try it out. I hope it works for you and if it does, let me know now you might be wondering brad. Well, i mean i heard you talk about it. What do you personally think? Would you use this on your hair? I would use it on my hair. Yes, do i recommend it for you, i would say yes and no - it's probably amazing, for the young women to use this on their hair. However, we do have a lot of hair care to offer in america and throughout most of the world. So if you have access to great hair care, that's backed with a ton of research and science. A part of me really just wants to say use that i don't know if we need to be fermenting rice, water um for a week and putting on our hair in order to get benefits. I'M not sure it's any better than using something that is store-bought. There'S very minimal research done on this and the benefits that come from using rice, water, like vitamin e b antioxidants stuff like that, can all be found in a lot of hair products on the market. But if you're born on a budget - and you really want to try something new - this will definitely not hurt your hair. It'S not gon na fall out. It'S not gon na do anything bad to it, i'm sure so i say go for it. Try it out, but again, if you have money and you have some stores around, you go and buy a hair mask that have great ingredients and they're from a great brand. I think you're gon na get just as much benefits from that. As you are the rice water, i know everybody wants this miracle cure to growing hair, but i'm here to be the one, that's realistic about things and just give you my take on it. You don't have to agree. However, that's how i feel and i'm sticking to it, use it or don't use it. It'S up to you. I don't mind it. I don't hate it, but i think there's stuff. That'S out there, that's a little bit easier to use. Well, if you made it this far in the video, i have a little fun fact for you. You know what's crazy and so interesting. I told you guys that the young women cut their hair at 18, as kind of like them coming into their womanhood is what i got for. My research could be incorrect, but we'll go with that for now they actually keep that hair and they use it as like an extension piece for their hairstyles for the rest of their lives. I know it's crazy. They wrap their hair up. They connect their ponytail from when they're 18 on there and they wrap it with it yo, so they were basically the inventors of hair extensions is what i'm getting from that it's pretty cool, so rice, water, pretty cool, but you know, if you guys, aren't already subscribed, Make sure you do write down below click the like button and the bell icon to be notified every time i post a new video. Brad Mondo: Have you ever tried using rice water? Was it effective?

christina mack: I rlly appreciate that brad gave credit to the people who actually started this instead of someone who made it trendy

2008MrsKim: My Aunt started living off the grid several years ago. She was entering menopause and her stress level was over the top so decided to give it all up and leave the stress of society. She moved to the foot of the mountain, collects rainwater in barrels, and grows her own food. I swear, the time has gone backward for her. She looks 20 years younger, Her thin hair is now thick, full, and down to her waist. She uses only rainwater to bathe and cook. Her set up is a thingamajig to catch rainwater and run it through charcoal filters to purify it for drinking water. No stress, clean purified water, and a vegetarian lifestyle has changed her life. I'm convinced stress and bad food make a difference. She lives like these women, uses natural resources, and lives as stress-free in nature as possible.

Mary K: Also if rice water doesn't give us that result we were expecting, we should also consider their environment and diet. I don't think they eat processed or hormonal treated food. They spend a lot of time in nature as well and don't have the same kind of stress we have. That has a big impact.

Ixed Tea: “My phone fell in water” -rice “My hair is damaged” -rice “My skin is oily” -rice “My sink is broken” -rice Or ramen

Sarah: You should do a series covering different hair care from around the world. Like the Himba people in Africa who use red clay to cover their hair.

Wendy F: They also don’t bleach the heck out of their hair.

Fantcxyfx: A few time stamps: 4:54 how to make rice water tutorial 6:56 how to apply to your hair

Nicxxy A: The recipe for the Yao tribe is actually “washing glutinous rice, collect the water, boil it with pomelo or tangerine peels with tea oil or herbs until the mixture is a really cloudy white colour, ferment for 1 week”. Some people say glutinous rice is the key.

Sara Silk: Ok guys this is my review. I started doing this to my hair the day the video came out. My hair naturally grows extremely slow and I mean 4 inches a year if I'm extremely lucky. It's been almost 2 months now and my has grown 2 inches! That may not sound like a lot but that's an inch a month. that was way more than I was getting before. I'll make another comment in 4 months I've also started taking pictures of my hair for before and afters.

theothersideofmars: is it just me but i love how brad is giving credit to the culture and women who created this method, regardless if it works or not edited: yes this is the bare minimum!! but we live in a world where influencers only cite 3 tik toks from random white girls so let me live

Ellie Villafane: am I the only one that thought he'd actually use the rice water?

Alisha Khan: I love that despite being a professional hair dresser he also talks about natural treatments like rice water and henna etc. Most hair dressers i know outright say "only use products" so having a hair dressers insight on these things is very helpful. Thanks Brad!

Diana Comer: For the longest time my hair would not grow it was stuck right at my shoulders, I heard about rice water tried it out using it once every 2 weeks and my hair is now to my waist! I highly suggest trying it out!

Pa Hou: Thank you for being culturally sensitive and honest. Many Asian women have used this technique for centuries. Asian women are known to have some of the most beautiful and strong hair and it is genetics as well as how we take care of it. As a hair stylist I’m sure you’re aware of this. Thank you once again for sharing one of our traditions in such a kind way. Another thing I wanted to add is that because of the chemicals in shampoo, it’s nice to have a different option for hair care.

Lindsey Elevated: I’ve been using it on and off for years. When I use it I have significantly less hair shedding. Little to no breakage when I brush it. I let my rice water ferment for days - months I use it as a rinse and a soak. It’s amazing. My hair grows fast and with rice water I retain length. I don’t use any heat in my hair and I haven’t used any dye in my hair since January 2016 and I’ve had 2 big chops I have 3b hair. It’s amazing.

jaya L.: My grandmother and mother used only rice water for their hair. Like..they boil rice water with some herbs.. hibiscus leave..etc. and I swear by my grandmother's hair..she had the most beautiful hair.

Kay Official: As a black woman, rice water is my hair saviour. My hair gets dry and breaks quickly, so doing rice water treatments saves my life.

Mazza Cheewanich: As an Asian, we all know that when you wash your rice, be gentle. Do not rub it too hard or soak for too long as seen in this clip...all the vitamins will rinse out.

Jaded and Empty: "I'm not scared to say this shit is dumb, even if everybody likes it." *The world needs more of this, so so badly.*

Belicia Rodriguez: I use rice water every week and it does wonders! I have always had issues growing my hair out. I’m finally seeing progress since using rice. Interesting to note that the weeks I don’t use it, my curls aren’t as tight and shiny. My hair looks a little sad without it. 12/10 recommend giving it a try!

Gracie Ambuul: Repunzul be like: shhhh stop revealing my secret

Natalie Johnston: I would strongly recommend watching Kayley Melissa's videos on rice water! They're a bit longer, both are 30 minutes each, but she does an incredible job. They contain science-backed research, the original Red Yao recipe, and her personal experimentations with rice water. Her version is a little different than this one--before fermenting, the rice is strained out of the water, which is then boiled with fo ti root, shikakai, and the grapefruit peel. She started out as a skeptic, but by the end of the month she claims that her hair has never felt so healthy. I have my first batch brewing right now!

Jaylene Garci: Update: I have almost 3 weeks that Ive been putting rice water on my hair and its grown and my hair is shiny and looks very nice and my bangs have also grown it normally takes 4 to 6 months for my hair to grow but its grown ever since the rice water and ive been applying it like 4 or 5 times a week . If you want to see how to make the rice water watch it from doro cubillos channel

Jasimine Hall: I think genetics, environment (weather, humidity, etc), your hair care routine, and how well you take care of yourself (your hair is made of protein/keratin so it takes nutrition from your body) plays a part in how much hair length you retain.

Christine Goudreau: I use the method where you wash rice in bowl. Just water. Remove rice. Take that water boil with orange or tangerine peels for a few minutes then take the entire solution in a air tight jar. Let it sit for a week in a dark room then keep it in the fridge until ready to use. And the cold rice water is absolutely refreshing. Even use it as a toner.

Pinky Grace Dela Cruz: I actually tried using rice water on my hair the last month and I’ve noticed the new hair strands that are growing had become thicker soo yeah I guess it works ‍♀️

Lily bostic: Brad, you need to get a series going where we send you pictures of our damaged/Quarantine cuts/whatever or just our normal hair and you tell us what you would do and how

MsSphinx91: To the "it's genetics!" crowd: I will say you're not wrong, but because many people use heat styling, chemicals, treated water, regular trimming, and other methods that could be damaging their hair or just preventing growth, not everyone really knows what their genetics will do for their hair if left alone. Lifestyle choices will determine whether you reach the hair length determined by genetics. The Yao women have a similar lifestyle and hair regimen to the women who use Chebe powder in Africa: they live in a rural area (no chlorine or chemicals in the water), eat natural foods, have an active lifestyle, use protective styling, and hardly cut their hair. If you really want to see what your genetics can do, you'd have to replicate these conditions as much as possible. Otherwise, saying "it's genetics" is not really helpful to the conversation.

Emma Roth: I've been doing rice water treatments once a week(I use Audrey Victoria's tutorial) for a month a a half now and it has been SO beneficial. I'm a cheap scape so I try at home recipes all the time and this has worked so well with thickness, reducing hair less, and has made it grow SO FAST. I love this method, it is a little time consuming but worth it.

Aisha Yassy: Remember when we used to put our broken phones in rice? Now we put our broken hair in rice

Lany Arque: love the passion while sharing all the details in this video and how Brad respects the culture of people who originally used it ✨

Ascension 2000: You can also make diy rice conditioner for a hair mask. It's actually wonderful. I use 1/2 cup white rice, 2 cups of water and cook the rice until it's mushy. The consistency should be thick, but add water if you think it's too thick. In a blender, pour in the rice, add 1 tbs of oil (I prefer grapeseed) and your favorite essential oil (I use peppermint). Blend until smooth (up to 4 minutes). On wet hair, apply the conditioner to your hair and scalp. The warmth of the cooked rice feels wonderful. Allow the conditioner to rest for up to 30 minutes and wash out. It's my new go to conditioner on a budget.

Ojreader: I feel like rice water is the new coconut oil.

Hendrrrary: My review: I got amazing results for the first month (once every two days) , my hair was shinier, silkier and straight naturally and I loved that since I hate my annoying natural wavey hair. But after a month my hair started getting rough and dry so much that people started noticing and honestly at that time I was in denial it's the rice water's fault since I got amazing results at first. But after realizing I stopped using it and switches to oiling my hair regularly by rapeseed oil! And it turned out my hair lacked hydration alot! Just after using it two times my hair felt alive, silkier and shinier. I just want to say, it's okay to use rice water but don't be foolish like me and use it no more than once a week!

Quetzal Coatl: Thank you Brad for the video it was very interesting and I like that you're talking about 100% natural ways to take care of hair. However I disagree with you saying that if we have store products available we should use these instead because : 1. Products will always be more expensive than natural ingredients that you can mix yourself 2. Products are most of the time sold in plastic, which means it creates waste and pollution 3. I think coming back closer to what nature has offered us is almost always the best option.

PICKLE MARZ: What I learned from Brad today; never dye your hair, eat well, avoid over-washing hair (focus on your scalp only when you do), rinse in cold/room temp. water, and avoid heating tools. Oh, and stop looking for easy solutions, put in the work.

Mai Keates: For about a year I used rice water on my hair once a week, I was trying to grow it long and read it would help, safe to say I truly saw the benefits of it! Prior to using the rice water I had virgin hair but it would snap easily, baby fine and grew at a really slow rate. Almost straight away I noticed my hair was stronger and didn't snap at the slightest tug and not long after that I noticed my hair growing at a faster rate (which was probably down to making the ends more resistant) I will also say that it made my hair a lovely colour, obviously the rice water didn't dye it but it really brought out all the tones I had in my hair and was a pleasant surprise. It really doesn't smell that bad either so don't be put off by that, the smell washes out when you wash the rice water out. The only reason I stopped was because I got a pixie cut and now I'm trying to regrow my hair I will start using rice water again‍♀️

Daisy Ann: I’ve been doing it for about two weeks and I have seen a difference when I brush my hair and my hair is pretty damaged. Haven’t seen a difference as far as growth. It’s a lot softer and less tangled. It might not work for everyone but for me it’s made a difference.

Baby Lib: I’m a mixed race girl and can confirm this has worked really well for me. My hair is slow growing and is broken due to heat damage but after using rice water my hair grew the length it would normally in a year, in only 3 months. It’s also made my hair really strong and healthy again without cutting it. If that makes sense . Just warning it stinks even if you put the citrus peels in there. It takes time to see results but it works.

Rina R: I have been using rice water for about year now, and this is what I can tell you. It works! My hair health has improved significantly, it’a definitely stronger and I cut my hair every month or 6 weeks... and my stylist noticed that there’s a lot less damage to the length of my hair. Whereas before my hair was literally always the same length because every time It grew I had to cut the length off due to split ends and it would easily burn (heat styling). So if you’re skeptics, give it a try and I pray with all my heart that it works for each and everyone of you, may you all have strong healthy hair

rachelle burkey: Would love to see an in-depth video from you about natural hair lighteners and treatments. Recently I've been using raw honey and cinnamon and it's lightening my hair to the level I wanted now that I'm in my forties. At my age, I need to protect what I have because if I mess it up, it's not coming back. Someday I wanna be one of those sage looking women with long gray hair.

Usone Precious: The Yao women’s hair look and grow like that because of genetics and I think we always forget that genetics is a thing in hair discussion.

Annushka Mehta: YALL!! To everyone saying that your hair broke really easily after you did it, and it became brittle, THAT'S BECAUSE IT ADDS SO MUCH PROTEIN TO YOUR HAIR!! You need a balance between protein and moisture, too much protein will make it brittle and too much moisture will make it stringy.

Jana Mitchell: we use rice water treatments at the salon I work at & a lot of our clients love it & we’ve seen a lot of benefits from it... it does wonders for curly hair, we use it so religiously and every client coming back gets the treatment again, 10/10 recommend

Ryan Gant: My hair hates rice water. Mine is high porosity and rice water drys it out. I can get away with it as a protein treatment maybe once every couple months. But I prefer not to. Homemade Rosemary oil is my choice of hair growth potion. ✨

Ren Gabriel: I've been using rice water since last year. I was influenced by my mom back then since they used it as their hair conditioner. One year after using rice water and growing my hair. It's my holy grail for my wavy hair.

Kinzi-Jayne: I absolutely love your videos, so educational and fun! My hair is super long has been my whole life and since watching Brad I have learnt so much about how to look after my hair properly! Love it

Blue Side: I tried it today, I fermented it for 5 days and I used rosemary water with castor oil, it smells really good and my hair is so soft and my scalp feels more clean. Yall should try it. I hope it helps for hair growth too.

Kentaviax: Yesterday was day 1 for my rice water treatment which I also added a deep conditioner for moisture Currently natural, no heat at all whatsoever (type 3c/4a curls and course) I’m planning on doing it for once a week for 1 month just to see If anyone has suggestions to add or helpful tips please kindly let me know :)

Stephanie Wichowski: Thank you for doing something on this! I’m more looking into this as a more sustainable option. Like , yes I can afford hair mask products but I don’t want to contribute towards more plastic waste, and if it works just as well why not use it instead.

Orangine: 3 pending assignments due tomorrow* Me watching how to make rice water

Casey Betterton: Yes, I tried it out a year ago, every other day (30-45 mins) for almost 3 weeks. I just stuck it in the fridge after it was done fermenting and used the same water until I started seeing stuff I didn't want back in my hair. Actually, I used it a few days after a box dye too and TBH... My hair and scalp became healthier than before I dyed it and stayed that way for a few months after I stopped using it. My hairline grew back naturally darker. I made more last summer, but I made a HUGE MISTAKE by leaving an egg mask in my hair immediately after the rice water. When I got into the shower, I thought my hair was falling out. It was snapping off at random places in my hair. It did that until I fixed it. So, JUST SOME ADVISE!! If you use rice water, be sure not to add anything else to your hair that contains proteins. @bradmondo

The musical World 🌎: Yes I'm using it currently and the results are just wonderful...I've tried it for 3 times now my hair increased by 7 cms now in 1 week almost (this is quite surprising for me because my hair is like it grows 1-2 cm in one month) also my hair was previously very very very dry and rough and literally unmanageable but using rice water for the first time showed awesome results my hair literally felt very very smooth moisturised (although the smell was a bit unpleasant but with essence it was good only) now I had used it for the third time ...my hair is completely a different one now ....I'm in love with it .....you should must give a try too

Kitty Fantastic: I use rice water on my long hair. I tend to mix natural hair care with some good commercial product. My hair is currently about four inches past my waist. The rice water seems to help with strength. And I tend to use it mainly in summer. In winter I need heavier protective oils, so I use rice water, then an oil. I use a lot of different oils on my hair depending on what it feels like. But most often I use olive oil with rose absolute and frankincense. About once a month I use castor oil for shine. I dont think my hair grows any faster from the rice water. But it does seem to increase strength, softness. But yes it has a funky smell. So ad that essential oil. But you can not beat rice water for softening hair. It also helps a lot with tangles. Having had fashionably cut and cared for hair in the past, and very long hair..... I think with super long hair the natural treatments work better. Commercial product is targeted and lovely and fun and exciting. But once your hair gets over two feet in length, it is very old. And it needs to be cared for gently. No detergents, no artificial scent, no petroleum products. And for my own fine, thin, long hair I stay away from cones. They look nice for a day, but collect dust, dirt, and make my hair tangle and weirdly dry yet sticky/ yuck. probably fine on shorter hair that is washed often.

Desiree Mayfield: I've used it and still uses it to help transition my dry, bleached dyed and permed hair to natural and it works wonders. i love using rice water but i do believe it only works for certain people and for certain hair care regimes

Victor Heryanto Waang: I actually tried this and my hair was considerable softer and smoother im not sure if it helped with hair growth tho Side note it smelt horrific

Xion Memoria: It's just a starch coating that offers some damage protection. It's 15000 year old protectant spray. Max hair length and growth rate are mostly up to genetics, but this can absolutely help you avoid breakage to grow it out. I used it back in high school with orange peel to appease my locks after the dry shampoo emo bangs phase lol

Alli Williams: I have tried all types of all natural hair care techniques and even went shampoo free for a couple years. Yes, rice water really works. When I tell you I have tried everything in my hair and it's in my top 3 products that helped me with hair health/growth

Imma the chopsticks that Jin always carry: Idk about others,my each hair strand is thick but my hair density is low. I am using rice water for 2-3 years now. I grew my hair upto 47 inches and then chopped it off, I'm growing it now. Rice water helped me a lot to increase volume in my hair, made it fuller and long. I use it on my skin too and I trust rice, cuz I'm Asian lol

Yuh Huh: Brad should add curly hair products to his line, I'd love him more than I already do (I do understand he just came out with colors just thought of it) I mean I only have 2c type hair but yeah

Its Me JeJune: My natural hair used to be so oily it looked greasy, flat, dull, and damaged. This year I went around 2 months not washing my hair and then switched to an all natural shampoo bar. Honestly my hair is no where near as oily and looks so much healthier! It does still have damage obviously but it's really long so that is going to take time to grow out.

Mei Jo: I’ve been using it for weeks now and my hair has never been softer and easier to manage. My mom also suffers from Traction alopecia and it’s the only thing that’s helped her see some kind of growth. It doesn’t hurt to try this!

Darlyn Castillo: I wish you could review this concoction my mom used to put in my hair when I was growing up... I still do it myself lol but I’m not sure if it really works.... is eggs, yogurt, honey , and avocado

Michelle Mari: Most of my life I've had extremely thick healthy beautiful hair. Not being conceited, this is just a fact. lol My hair was my trademark. Anyway, I started to have health issues about 10 years ago where my hair was breaking and thinning a fast rate. I have tried ABSOLUTELY everything including expensive products and treatments with no or little improvement. My hairdresser/friend was constantly giving me new methods to try to save my hair. She told me about rice water about a year ago but I didn't try it bc it sounded ridiculous. Fast forward 6 months later, out of desperation I decided to give it a shot. I am SO HAPPY I did because for the first time in 10 years my hair is getting thicker, longer and healthier. It's almost back to what it was before. Its gotten so much better that other people are noticing and asking how I got my hair back. I am now making this concoction for my friends lol. So yes this does work wonders! Its even good for your complexion. I spray it on my face at night and in the morning my skin is GLOWING.

alex: someone: i think my hairs broken the world: uhhh try putting it in rice

WhitneyStylez: I’ve used it on my hair and saw some positive benefits. I tried it because I’m a fan of DIY. I just posted a similar video on my channel which is probably why this video showed up in my feed. I agree store bought products are easier to use . That’s what I’m sticking to! Good video ♥️

hk: I used this for a month it made my hair thicker, shinier & I went from hating my hair to loving it

EO BC: Yes, I've been using it all during Covid and my hair has grown. I use the same method but added my own ingredients to help with the smell and stimulate my scalp.

Iman Motala: Hey! when you rinse the rice you're actually supposed to use your hands and "wash it" then you strain the water (into a jar) and then you boil that with the pemelo peel (idk the spell) for about 15 minutes and then you let it ferment for a weak :) you don't actually leave the rice in the mixture

Jedidiah Walsh: therapist: gay hairdresser hades doesn’t exist, he cant hurt you gay hairdresser hades:

Jelena Miscusi: I've been using rice water for two months now, and my hair looks better and it did grow a lot, I've had a few bald spots due to my hypothyroidism, and now there any so many baby hairs growing there. I'll keep using it and see ❤️

hæppy änna: You are the BEST beauty channel on the internet. You do research, you don't exaggerate when's it's not in place, you provide top quality scientific and DIY content and are generally fun and hilarious. Please have an international TV Show and teach the whole world in being beautiful and relaxed about it

Tegan Green: I've used it and it doesn't grow your hair faster it makes it stronger so it doesn't break as much and the end result is longer healthier hair. For me it honestly changed my whole hair texture after one use

desireevankuyk: Hi Brad! What do you think this will do to curly hair? I see almost everyone saying their hair got flat, silky and straigth. It looks so lovely on straight hair, but I'm not sure if it's a good thing for us curlies? Could you let me know what you think? Thank you so much! ❤️

Ardra: I have actually tried this during Lockdown... I used to oil my hair and after a day or two wash it off with rice water(boiled rice water, once it reaches room temperature...twice a week) TBH... My hair became so much stronger and long and it helped repair all the damage.. Also I did this for over a year...and only after a month the result started to show..

Sara99: For the past few months I've been using rice water on my hair, and i can confirm that it makes them grow faster. But it depends on what type of rice I am using, some work better than others. I did it because i had damaged hair and wanted to grow it out to cut the damaged ends, and it's working

Ashleia B: Yes, I've been using it and love it. I've done it twice. Two things that I've noticed in the videos with the Red Yao women that you didnt do. They throw the rice away after rinsing, and they boil the remaining water with the pomelo peel. Another major ingredient is from a tea plant. What I do, I throw the rice away, boil the rice water with the pomelo peel, then add essential oils, (ones that are good for hair health specifically,) and ferment that. It does NOT smell bad. Bc I dont keep the rice with the water. I leave the rice water on for 20 min then rinse out and air dry. And my hair is so smooth after it dries. It's amazing. I'm going to keep doing it.

Sophie Woolgar: This really does work, my hair grows inches, and I do this fairly regularly

Zoë Rose Hamilton: It can definitely make your hair feel stronger and have a gentle sheen to it. For people with wavy and curly hair I’ve heard that it’s not something you want to keep on your hair for very long at all, 20 mins of less is what I’ve consistently read. Mainly because our hair is more porous and having it on for any longer actually fills the hair follicle making it look really damaged. That said I do it once a week and I’ll never look back. Why spend more when you can literally do it for like no $$!

Cheryl: I tried rice water on my hair for about a month not too long ago. I was a true skeptic but wanted to see for myself. I used organic black rice, the pumelo peels and added a little camellia oil. Instead of leaving the rice in, I worked it into the water with my hands, removed it, added the rest of the ingredients and simmered it over the stove, then stored it for a week. After using it my hair and scalp felt very nourished and nice. The most noticeable result at the end of the month was that there was a noticeable growth with my edges. Not sure if this was a coincidence but I was pleasantly surprised because I've always had growth issues with my edges due to years of using relaxers in my hair (I'm natural now). Would I use rice water again? Maybe, maybe not. I may give it another go just to see.

Bree: I would add Argan oil, coconut oil, and Moroccan oil or caster oil mixed in with the rice. Honestly my hair sucks at growing I’m partly black and Guatemalan. My hair has grown 3” in two months and I used the same rice mix

Megan Hansen: I would like him to document someone trying this for a couple of months to see what happens!

Anela Blanchard: Rice water absolutely works. My hair used to take 1 year to grow 2 inches. Now my hair growth is 2-3 inches ever 2 months. If you do it right with fermented rice water ,you will be pleased

Clarissa Sarinana: I've tried rice water before but it just damaged my hair more than it already was Maybe I did it wrong but not sure if I would try it again. However I have a friend who has really curly hair and it worked out for her so I guess it depends on the hair type.

kellsy h: Thank you..SOO much for being mature and reasonable about this. Not attacking and talking all stupid like some others do when it comes to using natural products. There is no need to be that way and you showed that. I also love how you said a very key point "if it works for you then ok." THAT'S very, very important. The way we humans we we vary all over our bodies so there is no one size fits all for everyone. Which is why there are so many various products for skin, hair, weight, etc. Thank you for being good about topics like these. Honest and respectful not mean and stupid. Thank you.

carrie smith: I use rice water weekly on my hair. I'll add orange peels to the rice water to make it smell good made with distilled water and white rice. I'll let it sit for 2 days in a dark cabinet shaking up occasionally. Then strain it and use the rice water right away or refrigerate up to a week. I also spray it on my face and body as it's refreshing. When I use it on my hair I'll saturate my hair and massage in well and clip my hair up and leave it in for about 45 minutes then shampoo and condition my hair.

muun1998: Rice water really works, I tried it for 3 months and my hair grew more than it does usually. Just be careful with protein overload and don't use it as often or deep condition your hair right after.

Aeron Merihk: As always your our Einstein of hair care! wishing you the best during these times and keep up the amazing work!! Love you!!

Walküre: As an alternative treat for your hair to let it grow faster is AloeVera gel. You cut the leaf in half and just put the gel on your scalp (and if you want, also in the lenghts). I did this twice and my hair grew so fast!...

boobelladams: I used the rice water for a few weeks a couple of years ago, but my curls were so wonky & definitely loosened up a lot while I was doing it. I wasn't sold on it when I realized it was making me want to put an iron to my hair for the 1st time in years, it had no body either; super flat. I stopped doing the rice water, but it took a few clarifying treatments to get my naturally curly hair to cooperate a little.

Erika Vystartaite: I've tried so many hair products in various price ranges and none of them made my hair that smooth and healthy as rice water did.

Crying is ok!: I am so here for all of the research brad did for this video I love that he followed the original method created by the Indigenous women who use this. I might try it every once and a while, but I do think there are probably various other factors that go into the Yao women and their hair. Probably diet, lifestyle, stresses, etc that many other people pointed out.

Nys Burke: I tried this rice water diy and I saw no change. Some times hair grows long and stronger based on diet and which they didnt factor in when reporting about these woman with super long hair. Usually it comes down to genetics and hormones when it comes to what kind of hair you have. But also environment and diet play a roll. Rice water is dirty and I wouldnt recommend putting it on your scalp. Cheers.

Charlie Bond: You can actually get a lot of the benefits from using it alongside your usual hair care, with minimal fuss. Save your water after you cook rice, store it in a jar in the fridge until your shower, and take the jar with you when you go. After you're done washing your hair, use the rice water as a rinse. If it's cold it will help seal all the moisture in your hair which is a bonus and you'll get the ricey benefits. This technique is also very well known in Russia who have a strong link with Asia, my grandmother did it religiously and her hair was wild. I started doing it after ruining my hair with bleach in my 20s and now if I ever make rice I just treat my hair to a rice rinse-through. Nice to use something that would be otherwise thrown away! The benefits are noticeable pretty instantly, the starch fills in rough cuticles and makes your hair feel smoother. Feel is the key word there - it's like a band-aid. Nothing can repair damage past a point, but you can strengthen it whilst the rest of your hair grows through. The Yao women do have beautiful strong hair using this technique... Buuut they also live in a zero-pollution environment and don't bleach their hair after a bottle of sauvignon blanc and too many Brad Mondo videos... *Ehem* not speaking personally of course.... !

georgia mckenzie: Would also be interesting to look at the women's diet as I'm sure that would be contributing to their gorgeous hair

Trendy Health: *If you have dry hair or split ends, the solution might be as simple as olive oil.* It’s no secret that heat styling can hinder hair growth, but *olive oil works to protect your tresses from damage* _while also making them look smooth and healthy with a combination of antioxidants like vitamin E and oleic acid._ Add anti-inflammatory properties for treating dandruff - it couldn't be easier!

Mona Molloy: I used it over the summer & it made my hair grow, definitely give it a try.

Beauty and the Beast: Just to say rice water change my life , my hair is so silky , smooth and healthy
