Hey guys welcome back to my channel or welcome if you're new here today's video is going to be part three of a series that was actually never meant to be a series. But i've decided it's going to be an ongoing series on my channel and that is sharing hair growth tips, healthy hair tips. So, as i continue to read through the textbooks that i have about, hair read articles just research more in depth, which you guys know. I like to do like a crazy person and also just test out new products and techniques that either really really work for me or really really don't work for me. I want to keep making videos like this and future installments in this series, so we are here for part three. I have so many things i am so excited to go over things. I'Ve actually started to do more recently that i haven't shared before on my channel. Yet so we're just gon na jump right into it, but before we do it, don't forget to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. Both of those things really help me out a lot actually because it helps to make sure that my videos are recommended in the youtube algorithm. So thank you so much for your support. Follow me on instagram and tick. Tock username is right here and my lightroom preset filters for editing. Instagram photos are listed in my description box below alright, let's jump right into it. Okay, my first tip is going to be for those of you that, like to restyle your hair throughout the week. So let's say you wash your hair that day you blow dry, it do a little bit of a round brush. Then, three days later, you decide you want to curl your hair. You want to make sure that on that day, when you're going to be using a heat, styling tool again that you reapply heat protection, heat protection is not just something that you can apply once and have that kind of last until your next wash. It needs to be applied always before you're, going to use a heat styling tool, no matter what so two of my all-time favorite heat protection sprays are the pureology color fanatic, multitasking leave-in spray. I'Ve talked about this 700 times so i'll spare you guys. The other is the bumble and bumble hairdresser's, invisible oil heat, slash, uv, protective primer love both of these. They feel amazing in the hair. They don't leave a weird residue. You get a lot of other benefits aside from just that heat protection, but i really enjoy using these for midweek styling because they are sprays, so i find it easier to disperse throughout the hair, because my hair, of course, is dry and no longer wet like it Is after i wash it obviously, so after i wash my hair, i find it's easier to use heat protection, lotions and balms, because that wet hair kind of allows you to distribute it more evenly throughout the hair, but for midweek styling. I would definitely recommend trying out some sort of spray like this to make sure that you are fully coating the hair. You obviously don't need to drench your hair so that it's soaking wet, i feel like you - would have to use a whole bottle to do that. But my hair is pretty damp after i use these sprays and then i just let it start to dry a little bit before going in with that curling iron or whatever other styling tool. I'M using so would definitely recommend these, but no matter what heat protection spray you're using make sure you're using it again before you restyle. My next tip applies to basically every single hair care product that you're using so whether it's a leave-in spray like those a hair mask conditioner, some sort of serum or oil. It'S to make sure that you're creating multiple sections of hair on your head to evenly coat. That product all over the hair, it's really easy to kind of neglect a lot of your hair without even realizing it so, let's say, for example, you're applying conditioner in the shower a lot of us. This is something that i used to do too, we'll just take that conditioner and apply it to the ponytail length of the hair like that. But when you're doing that, you have all of this hair in here that actually gets missed, that you may not even be realizing, and all of our hair wants. Conditioner, not just the outside, but same thing goes for any other product that you're using. So when i started to do this, i was actually shocked, especially with leaving kind of conditioning, milks and creams, that i would section off my hair and there would be major chunks of hair that were completely dry. I was like oh my gosh, i'm just neglecting all of my hair. So now what i do is create about three to four sections on both sides of my head, so six to eight total sections of hair to apply that product all over and make sure that no hairs are left behind. My next tip is a wash day tip, and this is for those of you that feel like you're having excessive shedding in the shower or excessive breakage, keep in mind that shedding and breakage are very different from actual hair loss. I always like to call this out in my videos, if you feel like you're, actually having hair loss, please go see a dermatologist. They will be able to properly diagnose and help you with any sort of treatment on that, but for just shedding, which is very normal. In the shower or breakage, what i would recommend doing is brushing slash combing your hair, whichever you prefer before you actually get into the shower. The reason for this is that the action of massaging shampoo into the scalp naturally is going to create tangles. So you want to make sure that you are starting off with detangled hair so that that is not worsening the problem and you're not creating tangles on top of tangles trying to separate those tangles is what eventually leads to breakage. So if you have very knotted hair, that's going to cause more breakage than if you were to just massage that shampoo onto hair - that's already detangled. So i absolutely love my wet brush pro. I'Ve talked about this a lot i'll use this, or i will use a wide tooth comb like this. I love this one too. I will link both below both are from amazon, but either way just make sure you're detangling before you wash. My next tip is also related to washing the hair, and this is something that i've talked about in previous videos, but never in a hair growth video i realized, so that is to make sure that you are not rubbing shampoo back and forth down the ends of Your hair, unless you have a ton of product, build up like hair spray. Let'S say: that's a little bit more of a unique situation where you will probably need that shampoo applied down here to fully get rid of it and then by all means do that, but otherwise just for normal amounts of buildup. For me personally, i am never pulling shampoo down the ends of my hair. Shampoo is designed to clean the scalp and it will naturally travel down all of your hair, as you rinse it out, but rubbing that shampoo back and forth throughout all of your hair is something that can damage the hair unnecessarily. So that is a switch that i made probably a couple years ago and it's made a huge difference in just the health of the ends of my hair. So if you feel like you, really struggle with the ends looking dry or a lot more brittle than the top of your hair number one, that's normal, because the bottom of our hair has been exposed to damage for a lot longer than our roots. But that is something that i would definitely recommend trying out. Next is to make sure that you are gently. Removing hair ties. Thinking about the things that i used to do to my hair makes me cringe so hard, and this is one of the things that i always used to do and that was to just yank a ponytail out of my hair. You'Ve all been there too admit it, but this is something that i never do anymore. So, let's do a little example. I'M just gon na do this loosely, but if i have a ponytail in, i am never pulling down to pull that out. You will notice whenever you do, that, that you always have hairs come out with the ponytail or with the hair binder, whatever you call this thing, if you are just taking time to gently untwist that and then wiggle that down through the hair, you are so much Less likely to have breakage as a result, so, if you're seeing a lot of hairs wrapped around your ponytail, that's from breakage and that's something that actually can be prevented if you just take a little bit of extra time to be gentler with ponytail removal. My next tip is for, when you do end up with tangles in your hair, so for certain people like myself, this is inevitable, no matter what types of products that you're using, i have very fine hair. I have a lot of hair strands. I have bleach in my hair. All those things make me a lot more susceptible to tangles than other hair types and maybe other types of hair, coloring treatments that are done. So i just know that this is something that i started to be so so much more. Careful and meticulous about after my rice sweater experience. If you don't know what i'm talking about, if you're new here, i have a video listed below where i share my update on what started happening to my hair after using rice water for a couple months, so check that out after if you're interested. But i started to be so so careful with everything that i was doing to my hair after that, and this was one of the biggest things that i changed and i really feel has helped to prevent my hair from excessive breakage. So we will just broadly call this tip detangling knots like a pro and i'll just walk through the exact process that i follow. So whether i have just washed my hair and it's completely wet or it's mid-week and my hair is dry and a knot has formed. Then i will always apply some sort of product to help to loosen that tangle. First, so a leave-in conditioning spray like one of the two we just talked about works great. You could use a hair oil. So my two favorite hair oils right now are olaplex number. Seven and the not kerastase the orbe gold lust bonding oil. I talked about that in my sephora vib haul. I will list both of those below or you could use some sort of leave-in conditioning milk or lotion. Anything like that that is designed to detangle the hair is incredibly helpful and that's going to help to make sure that you are not causing breakage. Then i make sure to work in very small sections. So if i have a large knot or a lot of tangles right by each other, i will tackle small sections one at a time. Instead of trying to do it all at once, because that's going to allow you to make sure that you have all of that hair detangled before moving on to the next section versus if you just try to yank a calm or a brush through that. So much more likely to cause breakage so work in very small sections and before i even go in with a comb or brush, i will use my fingers to start to loosen those tangles gently. This makes the world of a difference. I would definitely recommend trying this if you haven't already. I find that when i do this first and then go on with the comber brush, i have significantly less breakage than if i again just tried to tackle it with a brush right away so loosen with the fingers. Then, after that i will take a wide tooth. Comb or a brush - and i will work from the bottom of my hair up to the root instead of just trying to pull it all the way through from the root to the end. So that is everything i do to detangle after i wash my hair. It honestly does take probably like 20 minutes for me to get through my entire head of hair, because i just have very, very tangly, hair, no matter what i do. That is one of the curses of my hair type, but it is so worth it, and i've seriously noticed an improvement in my hair. Ever since i started to take that extra step to just be super careful with detangling. My next tip is to make sure that you are changing up your hairstyles throughout the week. So, for example, if you really like to wear a ponytail every day, make sure that you were changing that ponytail up and not wearing it in the same exact spot. Every day, because if you're doing that, that is going to put stress on the same section of hair day after day, which will eventually weaken those hair fibers and can lead to breakage. So, instead of doing that, maybe one day you have your hair and a ponytail here then then i stay here then a low ponytail. Then maybe you do some sort of loose braid or a twist just make sure that you were switching that up so that you were giving certain sections of your hair a break and not putting stress on the same parts every single day. My next tip is definitely the one that i have been the most obsessed with recently. I'M sure some of you guys will be able to guess this, but that is to look out for low, ph or ph balanced shampoos and other hair care products instead of shampoos. That are high ph. The reason for this is because using products that have a high ph causes the hair to swell and that swelling causes significant damage. But, aside from that, it also increases porosity. It increases frizz. It does a lot of things to the hair that we do not want to happen and in order to have the healthiest hair possible using something that is ph, balanced or low. Ph is ideal that is going to decrease. Porosity decrease, frizz, increase shine and do amazing things for the hair, so i actually have an entire video talking all about this in depth. What happens to our hair in both situations, and i give recommendations for several different products that are both ph balanced and low ph. So i will list that below, if you haven't seen that yet i would definitely check it out one of my favorite videos that i've ever created and one of the most mind-blowing topics that i think i've ever covered. But before we move on to the next tip. I will give a quick shout out to the redken acidic bonding, concentrate shampoo and conditioner. I mentioned this in that video and i have been obsessed with this set. I used it exclusively for over two months and my hair loved it, so i will link these below. I would highly highly recommend it if you just kind of feel like you're, at a loss with your hair. Try that out. My next tip is to make sure that you're, aware of scare tactics or fear-based marketing when you see it. This is something that i think is just really difficult to do now more than ever, because so many brands are using fear-based marketing in order to ultimately sell their own products. There'S so many ingredients that have been heavily scrutinized heavily demonized, for example, sulfates, silicones parabens that have very valid scientific, backed reasons to be included in hair care products and there's so many claims that i've seen about those ingredients that are just completely untrue. I almost feel like it's kind of like a game of telephone on social media, like someone will see something that a brand suggests in order to get consumers to buy their product and take that and run with it, and it will morph into something way bigger and Way different than it was ever meant to be, and so many of the claims that i've seen more so on tick tock than anywhere else about some of these ingredients are just completely not true, like there's no evidence to back that up. So one example: i've seen so many comments that say silicones make your hair fall out. No, they don't. I actually talked about that a little bit more in depth in a recent video where i busted a bunch of hair myths, so i will link that below. If you would like to know more about silicones and the benefits that they can have for the hair and why they're included in hair care products, but the moral of the story here is just to not take what you see on social media at face value and To always look into things like that further and at the end of the day, just do what's best for your hair. If you have products that you see that have silicones and sulfates in them and they're working really well, for you, that's great continue to use them me too, my last tip is for those of you that feel, like your hair. Just can't get past a certain point. Like it can't quite grow longer than where it's at now ever, i feel, like i had a few friends back in college that i would remember saying that, like oh, my gosh, my hair just does not grow past this length, so my tip for that is to Make sure that you are not getting your hair trimmed too frequently. I think that there are a lot of people that suggest that you have to get your hair trimmed every eight weeks if you want healthy hair, but that doesn't always work for everybody, and if i were to do that, my hair would not grow past. A certain point so for me personally to answer the question that i'm often asked i get my hair trimmed only every three to four months, i'll, just kind of make sure that i'm staying aware of how my hair is looking and feeling. If i feel like it needs a trim sooner than four months, then i will definitely get one, but i'm not back in the salon every eight weeks getting a trim because my hair just doesn't grow quite as long when i do that. So just make sure that, of course, you're continuing to get trims to keep your hair healthy, but you're, not overdoing it. And when you go to the salon really have an open conversation with your stylist about your goals so that they know how much to cut off and don't end up cutting like three inches. We have all been there. You guys. I had one hair appointment where i asked for a few inches off and i got seven cut off that was probably like five years ago still traumatized. I cried. How can you not - and those are all the tips that i wanted to talk about for today's video, so let me know in the comments below is there something that i talked about, that you are not currently doing that you were excited to try out. If so, what is that - and you guys know the drill if you did enjoy this video, please don't forget to give it a thumbs up subscribe to my channel click on that notification bell and send my channel to a friend all of those things again really help To support me, so thank you so much for doing that. My next video will be up in a few days, so stay tuned for that. But until then i hope you have a great few days. You

dreamie: I just love how organized your videos are and how much effort you put into them. Your time stamps are a lifesaver especially when I’m rewatching old videos to get your review or take on something I forgot about

Megan Louie: I have seen such a significant improvement in my hair ever since I started watching your channel and purchasing the products you recommended. It's smoother, I have less tangles, its growing longer and I have way less split ends. You are very much appreciated ❤

User Name Here: Ive been getting my hair trimmed every 8 weeks at my root touch up because I was attempting to keep it healthy. After 18 months of trying to grow my hair and making no progress I realized I have to stop with the trims. But then I notice split ends and feel that I need a trim. I stopped heat styling and do all the YouTube things but I still have damage from highlights. How do you balance growth vs. healthy ends?

JLSlay Bay: Ps my hair looks like yours did in your thumbnail ! I just started my hair journey a month ago, I’ve been watching videos and studying hair for over six months now so I have so much info but just recently started implementing and doing the things I have been learning and I already see a difference but I have such a long way to go. Seeing your hair now gives me SO MUCH HOPE since my hair looks like yours did in the thumbnail lol

Kathi Stoops: Hi Abbey, thanks for another interesting, informative video. I consider myself very knowledgeable about hair, but there is never a video of yours that doesn't teach me something new!!

Carrie Toles: Could you do a drugstore hair growth video?! I'm broke and can't spend $50 on a hair product lol ♥️♥️

Maria Macrae: Ugh I need this. I went from blonde to dark brown (darker than I wanted) last week in an effort to stop hair damage and I'm so sad I'm going to have to go back blonde. Maybe some of these products might help before returning to the salon lol

Julia G.: I can never tell the difference between normal hair shedding and hair loss. I’ve asked several dermatologists and other doctors about it over the years and they always brush it off as unimportant. Once thyroid is ruled out they have no idea.

JLeigh: Love your hair care videos. I'll probably never grow out my face framing layers; I've just had them so long that I can't adjust to seeing so much forehead. I'd love it if you could offer tips on conditioning, dehydrating, etc., that speaks to how to treat the ends of these much shorter hairs without overheating the roots and scalp.

Ellen Francis: I’m really enjoying your videos! I get crazy tangles from scarves, turtleneck tops and any type of clothing that hits the nape of the neck. Any tips? Also do you still put lamellar water in your routine? And how do you compare the okaplex system with the Redken acid system—are you doing both and how do you work them both into your routine? Also do you use hair vitamins, growth serums, Vegamour etc?

miss methodical: You are currently my favorite beauty content creator because you bring us the nuance and the science!! Thank you

Trishanne Lininger: Hi Abby...Just want you to know that you have 61 year old woman with long hair following you! You have been so helpful and I love your tips...keep up the amazing work. I for one, really appreciate it:)

sweetie lune: My issue is hair breaking toward my scalp. Since I can’t really use products there because it’ll make me greasy, I’m kind of at a loss

Diane Welzel: I lose a ton of hair when I wash my hair but since I don't brush my hair throughout the week, it probably all comes out even in the end. If I brush my hair on a regular basis, my scalp gets oily a lot faster. So I just detangle and brush right before I wash. My red hair color holds on a LOT longer these days since I began using ColorProof products. A hair stylist on YT said that's what she uses on her hair (stunning waist-length, blonde hair on a 60+ yr old woman who washes her hair every single day!!) so I bought the Super Rich moisture duo and the Baobab Heal & Repair duo. My red is lasting a lot longer where before it faded terribly even though I always chose sulfate-free products! But between using the ColorProof items and incorporating the Verb Ghost oil (which I'm still trying to perfect), I like my hair and my style holds a lot longer. It hasn't been touched by a professional since Nov 2019 (right before our last cruise...before COVID hit). It's grown at least 6-7" since then using old photos to compare. I'm loving your info and working those pointers into what I'm already doing. Keep these videos coming, girl. I'm loving them all!!

dreamie: Do you have a preference between oils/serums/leave ins? I get so confused when trying to pick products because they all claim to do similar things but they all seem so different. I think I’ll try out the pureology spray to cover all my bases lol. I was previously just using morroconoil straight out of the shower as a hydrator and heat protectant, but I’m not sure if it’s actually good for that purpose ‍♀️

Erin Stafford: Loveee this! How high is the heat on your curling tools? I’ve heard that high heat is better because you just have to go over the hair once. I feel like lower heat makes more sense but it doesn’t curl as well. What are your thoughts?

María Antonia Franco: I love your book recommendations <3 could you do a list or a highlight of your favorite ones?? :)

Deandra Johnson: I love the series! I tried the Redken acid concentrate leave in from watching u and I love it. U should try the Matrix miracle creator leave in spray. I love that! I think it helps with ph and makes my hair super smooth

Erika Outlaw: You have SAVED my hair! So thankful for all of your hair content!

lilwoodsprite: I tried the Redken Acidic Bonding Shampoo & Conditioner. I just couldn't take the scent. It's not bad but just too strong for my sensitive nose. Love your videos and always look forward to them!

Daniela Morales: Hi, Abbey! I would love to know your thoughts on the AQUIS' PRIME REBALANCING HAIR WASH. I've been meaning to try it ever since I watched your video talking about ph in hair care. Love your work. Thanks for everything!

Casey Elizabeth: My hair is so thin I would never have to section it when applying conditioner your hair is goals!!

Kelsey Uuskallio: Hey Girl! Are you able to recommend some cruelty free dupes to some of your favorite hair products? I’d love to use the Redken shampoo, but it’s not cruelty free. I found the amika smoothing shampoo to maybe be a good dupe? I wanted to get your thoughts on it. I would LOVE more cruelty free products in all of your videos! You do such an AMAZING job researching everything! THANK YOU for your content !

Jess Lui: You are a really good communicator! Love the video, Abbey!

Alaesya Zakharchuk: You should try the inversion method! Heard great things about it. Im trying it out . I’m also adding a shampoo brush to my routine. So excited.

Ray Brackman: Most of my hair breakage actually happens after coloring hair at a salon, so frustrating.

Denise: So i detangle my hair before washing, but while I’m showering I find my hair gets really tangled again! & if I don’t brush it out while I have a deep conditioner on, then my hair feels terrible once I step out of the shower... any tips? Would you say it is okay to detangle with a deep conditioner on? I also have bleached hair.

Grisel Inguanzo: Learning a lot from you video . Thank you for all the great tips!

R Noor: Can you please review Joico K Pak system. Their deep penetrating reconstructer looks good. Let me know your thoughts. Xx Currently using redken acidic bonding & applying olaplex 3. Xx

kawaii heather: I dont recall if you mentioned this or not but do you brush your hair in the shower when its wet? And...could you do a hair styling from wet to set routine?! Your hair is looking gorgeous!!

Insearchofasunrise: Can you please do a video on how you style your curls? How you sleep in them to maintain them? Love your content<3

Julie Colleran: If I am using a hair elastic, which is not very often, I coat it with a serum so it is easier to remove from the hair.

Kim Nuzzolo: Our educational hair queen! Love your videos!

doctor BITCHCRAFT: Do you use a clarifying shampoo (with sls) on every wash day? I havent been using sulfates at all and my looks great, way less dry... but its harder to make it to wash day (greasy roots) Your the best! Honestly I dont vuy unless i get ur opinion!

Ayda Matrouh: Thank you for the great tips

Fiona Darragh: Hi Abbey ❤, Hope you're keeping well ❤! Love, love, love watching your channel ! Such a great video as always. I got the Redkin Acidic Shampoo and Conditioner that was a recommended. One thing that I did want to ask is! I you tried the leave-in treatment in the range before blow drying your hair and if so, is it worth purchasing? Thank you ! Enjoy the rest of your weekend .

JLSlay Bay: Invest in silk hair ties! They are amazing! I never wear my hair up because if the damage it causes but if I have to or even in a braid. Use a silk hair tie

S T: Thank you for your research and knowledge sharing

Emily 585: Would love to know some of your summer must haves <3

Allison Fare: Love your videos! Very informational.

Mrs. Tuff: Can you make a video addressing wooden brushes? Im on the fence with them. I would love to hear your input!

KARI MARABOTTI: You’re amazing, love your channel! Can you advise on the best products for real hair extensions and your favorite hair oil??!! Xoxo

Eiscremefrau Neumann: I'm a hairdresser but since I study now and don't know any hairdressers in the city I live in now, I had to try out a few salons. Turns out a shocking amount of hairdressers don't take breakage in the nape area into consideration when cutting. I don't know why since it's super important.. Because of all the rubbing against your back the (often thinner) hair back there gets a lot of mechanical damage and breaks off and is therefore a lot shorter. So when you say you want one inch cut off and the hairdresser takes the first section in the back and takes off one inch and that's the base line for the cut - it can happen that the rest of the hair will be three inches shorter or whatever the length difference to the rest of your hair was. I am shocked how many stylists f that up.. Also, don't even say that you want an inch cut off, SHOW THEM how much you want to have cut off. Because neither you nor the stylist will actually have a measuring tape on hand. An inch for you might be a third of your hairdresser's inch. Also it can be helpful to tell reference points like your waist or the back of your bra. Hope that helped

Jonna Petrosky: What’s the difference between the redkin bonding and olaplex?

Jaci: I just got a haircut and they totally messed my hair up I’m kinda heartbroken which I feel silly saying because I know it’s just hair and it grows back but yeah… here starts the hair growth journey

Lauren Knowles: I bought the Wet Brush Pro because of you and I love it! Thank you!

Kat M: This hair moment is everything omg

Rebecca Woods: Hi from the U.K. Abbey! Found your channel a few months ago and love it! Another one who would be interested in you reviewing the Joico K-Pak reconstructor!

Vianca Varma: i swear i’ve rewatched the old videos about 27 times thanks for this

Victoria Brooke: What toner formula does your stylist use?

Kaleigh Austin: I'm new to your channel so maybe you have addressed this already, but are you a natural brunette? I've had HUGE problems with damage from being a natural brunette and trying to maintain and grow blonde hair.
