Hey guys welcome back to the channel. Thank you so much for coming back today, I'm gon na be showing you the update of my rice water results. So you guys know that I am Oliveira girl. I use I they're at they help grow my hair, but a lot of you guys have been asking me if I also use rice water and the answer to that is yes, but I don't use it as often as I do my aloe vera, but when I Do use rice water - I only use it about once a month, but for the aloe vera you can use it as often as possible. It doesn't hurt your hair. You can use aloe vera to wash your hair cool, wash your hair detangle your hair or even use it as a leave-in conditioner. It'S safe and gentle enough to use as many times as you want. But rice water, on the other hand, is a different story. So I use the rice water recipe to rinse my hair and I bring it my hair up for two weeks but then right now, I'm gon na show you what it looks like two weeks later, so this is actually two weeks in the future. So I did the rice water rinse two weeks ago, but today is the future and I'm gon na show you what my results are and guys I'm completely cooked, like I'm shocked and you guys are gon na see why in a minute now I don't know if I can give all the credit to rice water, because I do use my aloe vera, but this time I didn't use the Olivera just because I wanted to experiment and show you guys what my results are. Are you guys ready? Okay here we go okay, family. Before I show you the results, I would like to show you guys exactly how I prepare my rice water. So these are the things you're gon na need, so first you're gon na need a bowl, and then you're gon na need a little bit of rice and then you're going to need a mason jar and I'll. Tell you why in a minute and then a cup to fill up with water, so I'm gon na add my rice to this bowl and then I'm gon na add some water to it. Just to wash it off. The reason it's important to wash the rice off is because the rice can have a lot of dirt or debris, especially from being processed, and all of that - and I know you guys - are gon na ask this. So let me just go ahead and answer right now. You don't need a specific measurement and you also don't need any special kind of rice as long as it is white rice, so don't stress yourself out trying to get the perfect kind of rice. Okay. So once I wash the rice off, I'm gon na go ahead and drain the water off and then I'm gon na transfer it to my mason jar. The reason the mason jar is important is because you need something to completely seal off the rice so that the nutrients from the rice can go into the water without any interference from air. So I'm just gon na go ahead and add as much water as I can and again you don't really need to measure the water or the rice as long as the rice and the water fits in your mason jars. So a lot of people complain that the rice water smells bad after is fermented, and that is true. So, if you're concerned about that, you can use orange. So that's what I'm doing here. So I'm just gon na cut the pillar of the orange and add it to my rice, water and then seal it off. So I have my rice water in my orange here. I'M just gon na go ahead and set it here for the next 24 hours and honestly you can use the rice water right away, but if you want to get the full effect, then you want to keep it overnight. So the nutrients from the rice can get into the water so that it can then transfer to your hair okay. So it's about 24 hours later. This is what my rice water is looking like and, as you can see, the rice swelled up a little bit. It'S almost up to the top, and also I'm gon na show you guys how soft the rice is, because once it stays overnight, it becomes soft, normally you're not able to break rice with your finger like that, but when it stays overnight, it becomes soft, and that Is when you know that it has done its job? So then I'm just gon na transfer, my rice water to this spray bottle. I'M gon na use a funnel because it makes it easy for me, okay. So before I start to wash my hair, I know you guys are gon na ask again what products I use for my hair. I use cream of nature products, so I have the shampoo here. It says that the shampoo is sulfate free, which is very, very important. It is also moisturizing and it asked shine to your hair. I also used the intense conditioner treatment for when I'm doing a full wash day, but today I'm only going to be doing a co-wash and I'm going to use the hydrating co-washing conditioner and that's what this is. So these are the three products I use for my hair. Ok, so let's get this hair process started. As you can see, I've taken my braids out. I'Ve detangled my hair. It is very, very important for you to detangle your hair and because I have a lot of hair and it's very curly, I'm going to section my hair off so first I started to use the comb, but then I decided to use my finger, so I'm just Gon na use my finger to section off my hair okay, so once I'm done sectioning my hair, I'm gon na take my rice, water and start to spray it onto my hair. I'M gon na make sure to spray my hair until it's completely saturated and then I'm gon na massage it through my hair and all my scalp as well. So that is just what I'm doing here. I'M gon na make sure to get every single section and make sure that it's very well saturated okay, so once I've gotten all the sections, I'm gon na then go ahead and cover it up with a plastic wrap for about twenty minutes. This is just to let the rice, water penetrate my hair and do its job okay. So it's been about 20 minutes, I'm gon na start the cold washing process. Again, I'm gon na leave my hair in all the sections. I'M gon na apply the shampoo in sections and make sure I get every single strand of hair. I'M gon na comb in detangle making sure that every single hair gets nice and detangled and also that the products are doing their jobs. I'M gon na do that for every single section as well. Okay, so this is the last section I'm gon na go ahead and take down all my hair and then I'm gon na start the washing process. I started out with my hair in sections, but, as you can see here, I'm taking the sections out just so that I can make sure the water gets through my hair to get all the products out of my hair again, I'm not gon na use any shampoo Or any other products, I'm only going to use the conditioner to rinse my hair. But I'm gon na make sure that it's rinse very, very well, and I'm also going to make sure that all the Potter buildup is completely gone and that my hair feels nice and clean. As you can see here, my hair looks very nice and clean. My curls are super defined, I'm just gon na go ahead and continue taking my shower, but once I get out of the shower, I'm gon na let my hair air dry and then I'm gon na apply my oil to my scalp. Are you guys ready for this here we go. This is my one braid that was left out. Okay! Well, look at this. I don't know if you guys can see that this is all new girl feel all new growth from two weeks ago. I see that see see all that new growth see that that is all new girl feel all of that. Okay, guys. Thank you guys so much for your love and support. I am so happy that you guys have joined in with me on this hair journey. Again, you guys have seen what my hair used to look like. Mercy Gono BSN, RN: Overnight rice water for fast hair growth - https://youtu.be/PrRwYOrG8Gg

Samantha Walton: As a pasty ass white girl with semi curly / wavy but thin ass hair. I still genuinely love to watch woman of color videos instead. Though some things may not work for my hair I support the representation you beautiful queens lack in the community. Thank for these tutorials and the education you bring ❤️

Niema Mcmillan: Ummm is nobody ganna talk about how flawless her hair is AND how much muscle she has

Windy Schultz: This woman is has such a beautiful energy about her. As soon as i clicked this video, and she started talking and i saw her glowing face i felt a ping of joy in my heart. What a lovely gift, to spark joy in people.

ella: Put rice water in my hair the other day thinking nothing would happen and saw about an inch result!! Crazy because I wasn’t expecting this.. currently sitting watching this video with more rice water sprayed in my hair because I want it longer, absolute miracle and it DOES work guys

Syd Dyson: Hey Mercy! During the 2 week period of keeping your hair wrapped up, how often do you moisturize your scalp? Thanks for helping us!

ilovethekawatatwinsシ: My goal for this pandemic was honestly for me to learn how to have self love, something I haven’t had for years because of low self esteem and lack of confidence. I’m still working on those things, but I’m focusing on getting inches and having better skin! Thanks for the video :) Thanks for the positive comments everyone

Todra Payne: Black "forbidden rice" has more nutrients and protein (I'm assuming the protein is what's important for hair growth). White rice has the least amount of protein (6 grams per 100 grams of rice) compared to brown, red and black (9 grams per 100 grams of rice). I find black rice at health food stores, the Asian aisle in grocery stores or specialty ethnic (Asian) stores. I also really enjoy eating the black rice after soaking it (if I don't ferment it) because it has a much more interesting flavor than white rice. Black rice also gives off a beautiful black/purple color that acts as a temporary color rinse if left on for an hour or so.

Crystal Grose: You have beautiful hair Sis I have a question: How many days apart should the co-wash be from the full wash day?

Hunter Lopez: She is absolutely STUNNING! I'm going to be doing rice water again. And I LOVE the idea with the orange peel, that way shes also adding vitamin C to her hair!

Meat: Hello person with 4c hair here and I’d like to say I’ve been doing this for like 3-5 weeks now and it honestly does work!! I put it in my hair in the early morning and before I go to sleep and now my hair can barely fit into my plastic bonnet I recommend adding some good oils to the rice water and let it sit in the rice water but seriously my hair is growing like crazy update y’all next month

Tiffany O: quarantine got me caring about my hair again..

T M: @Mercy, I leave it in, as well. It's like my 'leave in conditioner' but I also spray aloe juice (fresh aloe gel and water) to help with hydration because I understand the rice water can dry the hair. After chopping my hair in January, I've had almost 2 inches of hair growth and less breakage - thank God! That was measured in March 2021. And the left over rice water and aloe juice I leave in bottles in the refrigerator for my next use - daily and on my wash days. So, thanks for this vid. PS: I don't boil the water though as the heat can reduce the strength of the nutrients.

Taylor: I’m trying to care for my hair while I’m still young so over the years it’ll get longer and longer. I already have my hair a little longer than shoulder length and it feels like the styles are so limited for me

Official Alonzo: Natural hair, fit body, good looks, educated, and a job in healthcare

Jaylene Garci: Update: I have almost 3 weeks that Ive been putting rice water on my hair and its grown and my hair is shiny and looks very nice and my bangs have also grown it normally takes 4 to 6 months for my hair to grow but its grown ever since the rice water and ive been applying it like 4 or 5 times a week . If you want to see how to make the rice water watch it from doro cubillos channel

Ashea E: We finna grow this hair during quarantine.

K Love: That's a whole lot of new growth for 2 weeks. Incredible!

Palesa M.: I’ve been binge watching your videos and I’m not even natural but I’m so eager to try some of your tips on my relaxed hair

Dorah Denton: I tried and it worked perfectly. I've been using rice water for over 6months now

Niccisha Ilukena: When transferring the rice water into the spray bottle, do the rice particles remain or do i also transfer it to the spray bottle?

minsugalicious: Guys for the remaining rice after draining it from fermented water ,grind it till it's powder and add it to your homemade body scrub for a glowing skin we ain't throwing shit in this house

Meme Tv: Great content ❤️thanks for explaining EVERY STEP i love it

Scalp Feel AH Hair-Scalp Pampering by iSophia: Yep, this is what I do without orange. After 24 hrs doesn't smell so bad.

Angel 101: Thank you for the awesome video! Definitely going to try it out!

Annie Garcia: Wow I love the way you explained and showed everything, And your hair looks great.

Ayannah A.A-A: Question- can you use lemon peels to fragrance the rice water?

Dorothy Stratton: How long do you leave it in you hair, & do you wash it out before or after you put the rice/conditioner

HOw Do yOu KNoW?? HOw dO yoU KnOW ɪM NoT bɪG?: I would try it. But my mum would beat me for using her rice. she’d be like “ so you can use my rice for your hair but when it comes to eating you will not eat it??!!” In the most strongest Ghanaian accent ever

Andy Gema: Do you have to rince it off the same day or can we keep it overnight ?

Maryam Abdullahi: You really helped my hair grow and thanks❤️

Ib Okeshola: Fantastic and sooooo natural!

Annet: It works ....testimony I have been doing it for 1year and my hair is very long , soft and curls .

Life asLaya: I swear natural hair maintenance is such a dedicated workout. That’s why I get lazy and weave it up‍♀️

Nesreen: Does anyone know if this works for thinning hair? I’d appreciate it :).

Gina Smith: How often should I wash my hair? My hair is severely damaged, especially the sides and back so I want to use it often. Also, I use the same products as you do (that is the shampoo and conditioner). Can you give me the name of the 3rd product that you used when you do not shampoo. Thank you.

syleena kentrell: you explained so well , thank you !

Pasia Meafua: Thank i had a bad hair n started to fall lil by lil, this is something i can afford, thank you very much

Blkeclipse L: Totally unrelated but this woman looks like she works out and eats healthy. Her physique looks athletic.

First Last: Can you reuse the rice water after using it on your hair once, or do you have to get rid of it and make new rice water? If you can reuse it, for how many times?

StonieRose: i just used the rice water yesterday for the first time and honestly i feel good about it. but, are you supposed to use it for two wks or wait two wks with your hair twisted up?

Kamalo. Exp: I am Asian and rice is something we eat so I feel so bad to throw th away after one wash. I reuse it for several times. The trick is, don't use tap water. Use boiled drinking water instead. and then put it in the refrigerator. I use it every 2-3 days as long as it smells good - no signs of real fermentation. Then after a week, the rice started to break into smaller sizr. Grind them and use them as bath scrub but be carefull, because you might hurt your skin from big size of home made bath scrub. Recap:- - don't use tap water

L. Chill C.: love the music as well. i usually wash first and condition then rinse my hair with the rice water. i will try this way

It’sYaGurlDesire: Who Else Went Straight To the comments to See if it worked

Adiva Mulungi: The video is really nice, well detailed and very helpful thank you so much.

Jenny Min: I love how easy you explain things

Urban Flora: Could you use essential oils instead of orange peels?

Jessica Kuli: A month ago I watched this video, I commented here and I said I was gonna try it. Ladies, IT WORKS! I have been using rice water 2x a week. I'm so happy with the results, it automatically makes my natural hair pop, my hair now has volume and its lengthy now. So if you're wondering if its works and contemplating on getting this routine please go ahead you never know until you actual try it.

The Spookery: Thanks for the advice I'll definitely be trying it out.

Rita Yese: Hi. Can i use the rice water together with aleo vera gel, coconut oil, mayonnaise and conditioner to condition my hair for 30 mins?

Shirley Ikerodah: Hi, please when is the appropriate time to use the rice water? Is it after you've shampoo your hair or before.

Tay Martin: What oils do you use after you wash/co-wash your hair?

MÍMÍ Mõ: Love how she got straight to the point, and explains everything perfect

Shapaura McDonald: What worked for me was eating rice for lunch and dinner. My hair grew 5 inches in 2 months. Rice might be the trick because I had waistlength hair since I was about 6 years old to about 15 years old then i cut it and rice was always in my diet. I just decided to eat rice with lunch and dinner and grew it longer faster. It took about two weeks to grow it 2 inches. Rice was not in my lunch diet until trying this method I made up. Please make a video for this. By yhe way, i love your videos.

Gladys Moyo: How many years did it take you to grow your hair to this length ❤

Babe 3000: Okay so I have braids on and I really want my hair to grow, 1. what happens if you see the rice water on braids. 2. What happens if you use it every day. 3. What will happen if I mix the rice water, orange peel, oil and shea butter will it fasten the process

Fee V: Hey! I noticed you mentioned "once the rice is soft, it's done it's job" I've followed every step and even though my rice has swollen/raised a bit... it's still hard.
