Hey lovelies, larissa j here and welcome back to my channel for those of you who are new welcome today, i am sharing with you six tips, six things that i do to help boost my hair growth, so tip number one. The very first thing that i learned in hair growth is to avoid chemicals, so for many people that might be a perm or texturizer or even bleach. I did use to bleach my hair years and years ago, and i realized after some time of doing it just how damaging that was to my hair. At that time i was getting highlights and just getting those highlights constantly bleached and recolored regularly, and it truly truly damaged my hair. One time i looked in the mirror - and i was like: oh my goodness, like it looked like a limp, wet noodle, it was horrible and of course i had no color in it because it had been bleached. It was just like this limp, like like wheat. It was not cute now this was years and years ago, but that was kind of like the epiphany that i had like. Oh, i don't think bleach or anything like that. Chemically related is good for my hair, and so since then that was 2014. I mixed all chemicals and i just don't use it. My second tip as far as hair growth goes and achieving hair growth is minimal, heat styling. Now. For me, that is no heat styling and i have definitely loved heat years and years ago. I would consistently add heat to my hair straighten my hair regularly. In fact, i was straightening, my hair uh two every two weeks. I would straighten my hair and then i would bleach it and then i would straighten it. It was just a whole hot mess um, but yes, i straightened my hair regularly and once again that was one of those things where i said you know what i'm just going to commit to my curl pattern and commit to the hair that grows out of my Head and i'm just not going to put heat in it, and so that was the commitment that i made, and so i do not put heat in my hair. I have not had heat in my hair: i've not flat ironed, my hair straight in my hair um. Since 2018 and this right now, the time of this video is 20 21. So it has been some time that i've not had heat in my hair and for me and my hair texture. I know that that is the best thing for my hair, because when i do add heat, it definitely damages the curl pattern. It does not look like this at all, it's more like stringy and limp, and just not cute. When i try to wear it wet or curly, so i've realized that heat is a no-no. I highly highly recommend and suggest no heat at all. No heat, no chemicals, and that will expedite your hair growth journey for sure tip number three is low manipulation. What i mean by that is, i do not like, manipulating or messing with my hair too much throughout the week, so essentially what my regimen is is i will on a weekend usually on the saturday i like to wash my hair um and also put a deep Conditioner in my hair - and i don't wash my hair again until the next saturday, so i wash my hair once a week now, of course, i do, you know style it and take care of it throughout the week, but i'm only washing it um deep conditioning it Once a week, and even throughout the week, i try to do low manipulation styles. For me, what that might be is, i might take a spray bottle in the morning and i'll just spray, my hair with water, and sometimes that alone is enough, and so i'm not like raking my fingers through it. I'M not twirling it and finger coiling it and using a denman brush every day. I'M not doing all of that, because that is manipulation of my strands and i just want as little manipulation as possible, so usually throughout the week um. I will just at night time put my hair up in a pineapple and then i will take that down and i'll spray, my hair and then after i spray my hair with water. If i feel like certain little pieces, might need a little touch up with product. I might do that or i might just keep it up and up. You know in a protective style which actually leads me to tip number four, which is protective styles. Protective styles can be very helpful and for different hair types. There are different um protective styles that are kind of like a go-to. For me, that would be a bun. Buns are my go-to. I love buns donut. I like calling them the donut bun. Those are my go-to protective styles, where i don't have to really do much to it. I just kind of throw it up and and go, and i don't have to manipulate my hair too much and there's not a lot of stress and strain on my tresses. So a protective style for others that might be braids or wigs or twists or whatever. The case is like i said for me: it's a bun um, a donut bun, a you know, a ponytail uh, even dutch braids or two pigtails space buns. All of those things can be considered protective styles and they are just that they protect your hair tip number five is hair vitamins um. I have always enjoyed taking care of vitamins as just a supplement to the other things that i consume on the day to day, but hair vitamins are definitely good. There are so many on the market and um you just you know, take your hair vitamins every day and they just kind of help. Support that another thing you can do is biotin, which is also really good for hair growth as well. So that's something that you might want to consider. The last tip that i have tip number six for hair growth is going to be your diet and, of course, drinking a lot of water. Now i'm sure you've heard this so many times before, but it is so true, your diet and just watching what you're consuming is really really important. I have a healthier diet, so i really watch what i eat. I read the ingredients, i'm very careful with what i'm consuming and what i'm putting into my body, and so that, for me, is a plus. I also like to go towards healthier options and fruits and vegetables. I love seeing color on my plate. Um no, like i don't really do fried foods and things like that. No sodas and there's a lot of things that i avoid, because i know that they're not good for my body so watching what you're eating making sure that it's healthy and also staying hydrated is also super important. I always love carrying some sort of big water bottle around so that i'm consuming enough water in addition to i'll drink like tea, which also requires water as well. So i do that and another little bonus tip that i want to throw in for hair growth is collagen. You can also take collagen for supporting your hair growth as well, because collagen is good for your hair, your skin and your nails. So even finding a collagen supplement is also beneficial to your hair growth journey. One more bonus tip that i want to throw in is a satin pillowcase. A satin pillowcase is good for your hair because it helps with the moisture retention, and it also makes sure that you don't have that friction and that dry hair that happens when you're using a cotton pillow case. So a satin pillowcase is also a benefit. If you found this video helpful be sure to give it a thumbs up. Let me know in the comments what you think about these tips. If you use them, if you would like to try them, and i look forward to seeing you in the next video bye

how YA'LL doin?: Thank you LaRissa for the great hair tips your hair is so beautiful!

Alanna Mumphrey: I enjoyed this video, thanks for the hair care tips. Your hair is really flourishing.

WWDMusic: Nice video Baby! Your hair looks great!

Black hands: Unfortunately I think genetics play a big role as well. I had a friend who had bottom bra line length hair when I met her and she was getting relaxers at least 3-4 times a year. One day she decided to chop it all off to go natural and guess what….3 years later she had bottom bra length hair while mine was still chilling at my shoulder. I went natural a year before her. Of course I’m not sure what else she was doing to maintain her hair but I know I was drinking water, taking biotin, eating rights, and staying away from heat. I know I could do a better job at moisturizing my hair but I really think even if she and I followed the same hair regime she will still have longer hair. She’s half Jamaican and half Haitian and I’m neither. Good video and good tips.
