Hey guys welcome back to the chica youtube it's ellie here and today i just wanted to talk to you about a few tips on how to deal with hair loss. I lost my hair um five years ago now and it's a really really big struggle. It'S taken me a long time to feel like i have come to terms with things and actually feel like i've accepted my hair loss. I guess you could say um. I think it's something that is really hard to actually accept. You go through such a big identity. Change - and it makes it really really tough to navigate yourself around this new identity, so my first tip is going to be speak to people. One of my biggest regrets is not speaking to people soon enough about how i feel i felt like a burden, and that was the worst thing i could have done. If i'd spoke to people sooner, i think i would have come to terms with my hair loss. A lot sooner yeah, i just think speaking to people is super super important. Even if you don't have one person you can really rely on i'd also recommend seeing a counselor anyone speak to anyone. Someone will be willing to listen and me speak to me. I'M always always wanting to help people. I i will always do that. The second thing is, i found sharing my story really really helped me. So i found about two. Three years after i lost my hair, i started up an alopecia instagram and i connected with so many other girls and guys in the hair loss community, and it helped me so much. I really don't know why i didn't do it sooner. I didn't even know there was an alopecia community. Honestly, it's really really helped me to not feel alone alopecia, uk um there's a few other groups are also really really good they're on facebook and it's just loads of people talking about their experiences, asking for advice, um and there's a lot of very, very knowledgeable people On that, sharing your story can really really help, also knowing that you're helping other people. So for me, like now, i know i'm helping other people it just. It brings so much joy to me and i love nothing more than turning something so horrible into something. So positive, another thing that's helped me deal with my hair loss is wigs wearing wigs has really really helped. I did make a video on this a little while ago, and that was just how wigs brought back my confidence after losing my hair and i find wigs. They can just be so fun, so if you haven't seen that video make sure you check it out, another tip would be give yourself time, you're not going to feel better overnight, and that is the horrible truth it does take. It does take time. It'S taken me. Five years and i'm still not 100 there - and i think that's something so special about our journeys - is that we're always growing and and accepting that it's gon na take time is super important and my final tip is going to be give yourself some credit. You are amazing, you are beautiful and your hair does not define you. Your hair will never ever ever define you. I know it's so hard when we live in a society that is so shallow or that we think it's so shallow. But when i lost my hair i thought i was never going to find love. I didn't think i'd be pretty anymore. I felt like i lost my femininity, and the truth is is that i did find love. I found someone that loves me, for who i am loves, my bold head and i'm happy, and i love myself and that's so important, so give yourself some credit. You are smashing it. You are doing so well, and there are so many people proud of you, including myself, so guys. Thank you so much for watching this video. If you enjoyed it, make sure you give this a big thumbs up, and let me know in the comments what other videos you would love to see, and i really hope i see you in our next one.
