Love At Second Sight? An Update Review Of Gabor Wigs "Socialite"!

Hi Everyone!

I'm revisiting Socialite by Gabor wigs. My first video review was a bit on-the-fence because the wig, when it arrived, looked nothing like the stock photo. Here's a link to the first review:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-q2kz...

She's been in the box since the first review. I took her out this week, combed her our and I've had a change of heart. The waves loosened and I'm incredibly happy. Incredibly happy.

It's funny, isn't it how we can like a wig that we didn't care for at first and after a second chance--we end of loving it?

Hey guys, how are you I am back with another review and this time I'm revisiting a wig, but when I first got her, let me just say my first review on this wig was not very flattering. I was so angry because the wig looked nothing like um. The stock photo - I also I don't know for some reason. I just couldn't get her to work. For me, I thought this wig was going to be a fail. What I don't know what it was Wednesday I decided. You know what I'm gon na give socialite by Gabor a second chance, so I took her out of the box. I took a wide tooth comb and I combed her out a little. I put her on and I was kind of like mm. You know what she's kind of not that bad, and so I wore her to the office she performed well. During the day I was in front of my computer all day. I got up to go to the ladies room and notice that she didn't change shape. She stayed pretty much the way that she was when I came home since I did have one of my j.crew schoolboy blazers on, I was like okay, she's gon na be a tangled mess from the fibers in this world. Blazer surprisingly, she wasn't. All I had to do was just take my wide tooth comb comb, her out a little put her back in the box, and I thought okay, you know maybe she could work Thursday. I was running late for work, so I literally not literally because I can't stand when American people say literally as far as I'm concerned the only people who are allowed, in my opinion, to use the word literally and not sounds like pretentious fools or British and the Irish, they can say literally and the British can say literally okay, Australians can say literally, but nobody else can use that word. Every time I see er people say well, I literally, although crazy, I'm like no, no, no say literally, it's right up there with anyways. No anyways is not a word. It is anyway, okay and that's enough for the grammar police for a long time. But anyway I took her out Thursday, because I was running late. I plopped her on my head and I was like I don't know, I'm really starting to like this wig. What can I say, except sometimes you buy a wig and when you first take it out of the box, you're incredibly disappointed in the way that it looks. That'S how I felt with socialite. It looked nothing like the stock photo. I shook it out. I kind of was not able to work with it until I took a wide tooth comb and then decided to comb her out. She was fine. Sometimes it just takes a little time and patience, and sometimes it just takes a second look. I'M sure that if you are a wig we're on a regular basis, you know what I'm talking about hold on. Let me fix this little. There we go. There have been times when I know other women have taken wigs out of the box and were like. Oh, my god, this is definitely not the wig that I ordered and then they'll return it right away. I'M not a big week turner. So I try to work with things and even when it comes down to clothes, well with clothes, I think buying clothes. It'S a little bit more um. I don't know you kind of it's it's more tangible with clothes. You go to the store. You know what you like. It'S like with j.crew. I know their product line so well. I can go into a store for a new item. Try it on and then go home and order it online, it's foolproof. For me, I think the same goes with shoes. I recently ordered a pair of Nine West Shoes from Amazon. Nine West Shoes fit my feet very well. I took a chance. The shoes are great. Um, but I think with wigs, it's a little bit more difficult. This is hair. This isn't an item of clothing, although sometimes I think I do treat my wigs like clothes. This is something that's going to be sitting on top of your head. There is no size. Eight, there is no size ten, the colors are either going to work for you or they're. Not so it's really important to get a good idea of what the colors are going to be like. So it's the same with the style. If you are used to a certain style, if you like layering, if you like, layering around your face, if you don't like something too long or too short, I mean there's just so much involved and you have to really have a good idea in your head of What you want, because, when you're buying a good wig, this isn't like a $ 20 purchase and I'm not talking about budget wigs, I'm talking about like a decent, wig you're. Not it's not like going to a discount store. Okay, even when you're getting a good sale price on a wig, they can still be pricey. So you really have to kind of know what you are looking for. I saw this wig many times online and I thought she was absolutely gorgeous and the thing that did it for me was the price point. There was a sale on this wig and the price point was great, so I purchased it and when I first got it truth be told I was really disappointed, but after giving it a second chance now I'm really liking this wig I'm liking. The color. The color is, I think, it's glass walnut notes, I'm sorry. The color is gold and walnut, and I really like these caramely kind of nutty like frosted, although they don't say frosted anymore, highlighted colors. I think that they're flattering to. I think that they're flattering to every woman, I don't care if you're a woman of color if you're the palest woman on the face of the earth, I think a highlighted wig looks great on every single shade of skin. That'S just me, I think the highlights. So that's it! I'M gon na turn around, so you can see her again from side to side in the back okay. So this is my right side. This is my left side, and that was the back. So I would go on record as saying I would save this one for the fall and winter. I don't think that I would be wearing her a lot in the summer simply because I like to have my neck free and I like the shorter. I like a shorter bob for the summer, but I think for the winter months and the fall months, she's great, I mean it's spring now and it's a little bit cool and she's comfortable. The cap cap is very comfortable. I like the hair fibers because they're not shiny, there's a luster but not a shine, and I also like these fibers, because they're a little on the dry side and having dry bio hair. I am a big fan of dryer fibers and wigs because I think that they look more natural, so that's it. This was just like a short here's. The second look at this wig that I hated at first, but now it's turning into one that I really like a lot. So that's it thumbs up yeah! I like it thumbs down. No, I can't stand you and um have a good day. That'S it bye!

Clara: Looks great on you. I love your honest reviews. Not many people like you that tell us the absolute truth so we can be better informed thank you

TAZS WIG CLOSET AT WIGSTUDIO1: Haha! You’re a hoot Cathe! I enjoy watching you. I “literally” LOVE the wig on you! I am a huge proponent of getting those iffy styles out and giving them a second look and a fresh perspective! Enjoy your day. XOXOXO

Binger Singer: Catherine, great perspective shared. We are often dealing with expectations and when expect ions are not met, we do make a quick judgement and hurry onto the next wig on our list. We are ultimately looking for lost selves. I am one year into wig life and trying to make lemonade. I am very appreciative of those who can inform my journey and give me fuel to continue on the hunt for the 60 year old Dee. Actually I now identify with 40 year olds with full heads of hair and cool colors!!! So although pro aging I'm embracing the new opportunities that I have. Still looking for my perfectMOB dress❤️❤️❤️❤️

Christine Horner: I agree! I just got mine today and LOVE it after thinning it around the face a bit. She's light and airy and very workable. I hardly know she's on my head. After expensive Jon Renau wigs that are dense and lots of permatease, I'm in love!

Victoria Lambertson: I just ordered this in buttered toast. So excited to get it in! You look GREAT in this. ❤

Karen: Socialite is great on you and that color, wow! I'm glad you made it work for you! I loved your comments about pronouncing literally... I couldn't agree more!!! Thanks for brightening my day!

Kate Cartmell: Lol - I loved your comment about treating your wigs like clothes. I think I do that, too - treat them like a cashmere sweater rather than hair. I don't find caring for wigs a fussy thing - wash in Woolite, soak in Downy, drip dry, shake, finger comb and go! Longer wigs I detangle carefully and use Simply Stylin' spray. Love that style on you!

Mary White: I'm glad you took a 2nd look. I was thinking about purchasing her. Then I thought no, wouldn't want the trouble of return.

romantic horror: You are so right! I've taken a wig out of the packaging, and thought, uh oh, what in the world? Lol. I'll put it on a Styrofoam head and let it relax for a few days, then turn it upside down and shake the heck out of it, brush it out, stir up the permatease, just generally mess it up. Then I'll try it on. I have found the more expensive wigs take a lot more messing up to make them wearable. They look so fake. This Gabor looks so good on you, but you kind of had to let it rest and relax first. Maybe it's the way they're packed at the manufacturer. Wigs can become cold set if they're stuck in one position for a long time.

MichelleM: Very natural looking wig!..luvvv it!,

MB D: The longer length is great on you, Cathe. You just reminded me of a Belle Madame Angelina wig I recently murdered. It was lovely in every way, but just too thick. I decided to thin it, myself! Not good. I should have had the patience to work with it. You were the wise one. Your end result is really lovely. PS Amen to "literally" and "anyways". :)

Gin Gin: I love this on you.so natural looking. The colour is perfect too. I'm glad you mentioned the 'Anyways' word that people comfortably say. It frustrates me too. I'm always thinking, it's Anyway, not anyways. Glad to know someone else thinks the same as me. Oh, I'm in Sydney Australia. X

Frankie Lee: Liderally, (lol) love this thing on you. I watched your initial review and am pacifically (my grammar button--it's specific, ugh) curious if you ended up steaming the left fringe that made you crazy-ish. And if the waves are lasting, as other reviewers have stated this is an issue. Also, do the wefts easily show beside the mono part? I purchased a Radiant Beauty, first Gabor, and it was so shabbily made, and the wefts so visible on top, I vowed off that brand. Do tell. Thanks, Wendy

Miss Corina: Looks Great. Don't know how I missed this one!

Shelly Mac: I love this wig on you.

Gigi Hadeed: Color: Golden Walnut. Thought I'd put that here, as I like it! x

Zesty Girl: Love it!

judy kilger: So cute on you Cathy!

Anne Belair: Beautiful !

BABS Lemonade Life: Oh my gosh, I use "anyways' in my reviews all the time. I am working on not using "um and anyways" as much, But it is a bad habit to break. Anyways LOL, if I am not fond of a wig I try to wear it about 7 times before I decide if it id just not for me or if it needs modified. Sometimes I find I just grow to like them better.

Elaine Clements Finn: Love this on you !

lnzinorbit lnzinorbit: Lovely!

Christina: Very youthful looking on you...home run

Mary Ann Grisham: What is this color? Would be great if you put it in the description. Thx

Frances Lock: I agree I don't say anyways or literally. That wig color is quite ashy looking but cute. Worn with a white shirt it works and looks youthful.

michelle w: u wear it well
