#permedhair #igotaperm

Hi everyone, I'm Lana and welcome to my channel today, is an exciting day because I'm getting a perm before we go on this perm journey together. Please click the like and subscribe button. It really does mean a lot, I'm no stranger to changing my hairstyles. I'Ve done like different colors such as purple, green, grey, platinum and I've done different haircuts, like short, medium long. The last time I changed, my hair was around this time last year, so it's been a while that's when I cut it to about here. So I had a really short bob since then I haven't done anything so I'm itching for a new hairdo. The best thing I could think of was getting a perm. As you can see, my hair is very straight. It'S got no texture, there's no volume. It'S completely flat. This is actually my hair with no product, no heat completely air dried, fresh out of the shower, so you could see that a perm could be a drastic change. So this is my hair before I'll do like a 360, and I think we're ready to go hello. I'M here for a second a perm update with my dog Vasco. He doesn't want to beat her, so I'm gon na put him down. So this is my hair. Two days after the perm - and I really like it, I think it looks pretty good. It'S definitely different because I'm used to having like super straight flat, no texture, just straight as chopsticks hair, and this is giving me like more more volume, more texture, more mm. My hair stylist did a really great job in interpreting my mood board and picking out the perfect rods for me, because this is like this is exactly what I wanted. I have nothing bad to say about it. I just really liked it when I left the salon on Saturday night. My hair was still kind of damp, so I didn't want to do an update until it was completely dry and be a little bit styled in a way that I would wear it yesterday. I stayed home all day, so it it wasn't gon na look good, so I'm doing an update today because I had to go to class. I put a little bit of dry shampoo in it because it was looking kind of greasy haven't washed it since Saturday night, and I don't plan on washing it until tomorrow morning. So I'll check back in after I wash my hair tomorrow and we'll see if my hair is like still intact, because anyway I'll see you guys tomorrow bye, so I'm checking back in after I've washed my hair for the first time. It just doesn't look as good as it did yesterday. I don't know how to style it. I don't know what to do with it. I did put this product in it. It'S the OGX, locking, coconut coral, finishing mist. It'S supposed to give me a soft hold with that crunch. It'S a big crunchy anyway, um, I'm just gon na, let it air dry a little more. While I walk my dog. This is only day one. Do you want a fresh, termed hair, so I've got a few days to figure out how to style this permed hair before I start regretting my decision, so I don't know we'll see anyway, I'm gon na go walk my dog get ready for class and attempt to Make this perm look pretty as it was yesterday if it is pretty I'll check back in later, if it isn't then I'll check back in when it actually looks good. Okay, I'm back one last time for today to let you know that the hair looks fine. Now I was definitely worried before, because the roots were very flat. The ends were frizzy, but it worked itself out. Well. Actually I put this on. I completely forgot. I had this. This is the Paul Mitchell extra body, sculpting foam, so basically a volumizing mousse. I put about three dollops of these into the roots of my hair and then the ends of my hair. Then I went and walked my dog in this like 40 mile wind weather situation, so this product, and maybe combined with the wind, is what I needed to make it look good. I think my final perm update will be filmed either on Saturday or Sunday. That'Ll be like a week from when I initially got the perm and I'll probably have washed it at least one more time by then. So you guys will get a full look on what the perm looks like after a week and after it's been washed, two or three times depends: okay, guys. This is my final perm update. It'S been two weeks since the perm. I really meant to do it after a week, but with two midterms and a final time just got away from me, but two weeks is fine. My hair is more lived-in and I've washed it a few more times. So it's okay, we're all good. So this is what it looks like day, one of two weeks after the perm. There are definitely pros and cons to having a perm and numbers-wise. The cons definitely outweigh the pro. So, let's just get into what I like and what I don't like about the perm. What I don't like about the perm is the fact that I can't wash it as much as I would like to I'm used to washing my hair every other day. Now I push it to third, sometimes fourth day, and it just gets so dirty and the amount of product I have in my hair, just it doesn't help which brings me to my next point. I use four products on average to maintain the curls in my hair. That'S a lot I'm used to like maybe dry shampoo, maybe volume hairspray, but not for products. So as soon as I step out of the shower, it's curling cream, it's curling lose volume in mousse and then curling spray. It'S just a lot. It'S been hard trying to time my hair wash schedules so that when I leave the house, my hair is like completely air dried or at least on its way, to being completely air dried. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that I can't brush my tangles out around second or third day. My hair starts getting really heavy with tangles and it just looks kind of messy. Well, I, like the messy look. Sometimes I really just want to run my fingers through and brush out all the tangles and even get a comb to just brush out some of the parts where it's just a little too messed like you know what I mean, but the only time I could wash My hair is in the shower when I have conditioner on and I have to use that's kind of embarrassing, but I've been using my dogs sham, like shampoo brush, you know those you hold on your hands and it's got some bristles. I use that on my dog to evenly coat his hair with shampoo, but I've been using it after like thoroughly washing it, of course, on my hair, because I really like the way it gets into the scalp and the fact that the bristles are so white. I could actually brush my hair without it, destroying my perm, so yeah, that's the only time I could brush it and have to resort to my dogs Shampoo, brush to brush my hair, so when it gets to the third or fourth day, there's just so much product Built up in my hair, it just feels very grimy. I feel like it breaks me out. Even so, I recently started wrapping my hair in a cotton t-shirt to prevent some breakouts. I think it's kind of helping, but I have bad skin to begin with. So, who knows so enough about cons? Let'S get into what I like about the perm? What I like the most is just the perm itself. The fact that I have volume texture I've got curls in my hair other than the four products after the shower ordeal. I don't really have to do much in order to maintain this look. All I have to do is dry shampoo, a little bit put some curling spray in it and I'm good to go. I wake up with volume in my hair, my hair doesn't go flat. After sleeping on, it definitely easier to style I'll, just like put my part this way that way do a ponytail do a half up, and it just looks good because I've got texture in my hair. Also, when I put my hair into a ponytail, I only need to loop the rubber band twice like just two times, and my ponytail will hold for the entire day. That'S unheard of with my straight hair. I would have to loop it like three times and forcefully secure it with bobby pins in order for it to hold, but two times, even though the cons are more time-consuming and it just really cuts into my lifestyle. The fact that I even have this hair outweighs the downside of maintaining the perm overall verdict. I like it. I think it was 100 % worth it. I really hope it lasts for at least three months, even if it doesn't, I think I'm gon na go back and get another perm because I'm really enjoying it. But who knows? Maybe, when I do a one month update I'll, be like? Oh, my god, I hate it so much it's too high-maintenance, but for now I really like it I'm enjoying it and if you're thinking about getting a perm, I recommend it. So that's it for my perm video. Thank you guys. So much for watching and I'll see. You guys in my next video bye,

eyesthatsee: Advice from a curly hair girl: wet your hair daily in the shower and run conditioner through it..only shampooing once or twice a week. Keep a wide tooth comb in the shower, comb through your hair while cond is on it. Just use a good curl cream and a diffuser, when your hair is dry flip it upside down and scrunch it a little for volume....after that just let the curls do their magic the rest of the day!

Julia T: You're crazy, it looks super good after the wash!

City Girl: That’s how my hair looks when I wake up , so what I’m saying is that it looks natural. The stylist did a great job! You look great!

Rahela: I absolutely love your perm! Seriously the perfect waves. I am getting one on the 17th and I want the same curls as yours. What size rod did she use on you?

Emily Engeman: I get that it’s more time consuming, but I feel like achieving a similar amount of volume and texture every day would be more time consuming than that, you know? Like your original hair was less effort and time but you were maybe less happy with it? as a straight haired girl dying for a perm, that’s the main reason I’m considering it!! Ps you look amazing xo

2Cats _and_Kate: I had perm done a month ago and I love it! I had very straight and healthy hair, but it was super heavy - I couldn't achieve any volume ever. Now, volume is great. You need to learn how to live with curly hair, how to take care of it, because you can't just brush and go. For me it was so worth it. Will definitely do it again!

Jade Lopez: This isn't about the pros and cons of a perm, this is the consequences of having curly hair lol my daughter has curly hair and everything you listed as a con is her normal.

Leila: Advice for the tangles: Take a spray bottle add some water and a little conditioner then spray it on the tangled parts and detangle with your fingers! :) EDIT: btw you are gorgeous and your hair super pretty:) <3

baillie wessling: the way your hair looks after your shower is the whole reason i’m now getting mine done wow

Isabell Arcadia: I just got a perm and I love it! I had super straight hair before and was honestly so disappointed with my hair everyday because it would look good unless styled. But now all I do is apply curl cream and scrunch and diffuse and it looks super curllyyyy! I love it.

Lea Marie Tang: I love your perm! It looks super good! I did a perm before, and it literally last just a week because I didn't use products to keep it in tact. I'm thinking of doing it again!

egg babe: Omg I got a perm 3 hours ago and am in the EXACT same situation as you. this taught me a lot. thank you!! :)

Alexmarie: It looked pretty after the first wash! It’s all about styling technique and using a diffuser that can cup the curls as you dry it.

Glinda Bustamante: You look gorgeous! I love it!!! I'm on the fence about getting one, because my hair is a bit damaged, but your video experience was very encouraging. Your hair looks healthy before and after! Thank you for sharing.

Hien Huynh: Your perm looks fantastic. I have naturally straight hair and permed it too. I love my perm for the volume and find it easier to maintain and style for work. I never brush my hair and use marshmallow mousse in after the shower with all natural organic shampoo and conditioner. I found the perm last longer after 2nd perm. My perm dropped in 3 months or so after the first time.. Hope you still love your perm

LissetteLissie: I love it...especially after you washed it. I'm getting one. I came here to see your results. Love it!

Deysi Benitez: It looks great on you! Love the waves!

simum 7: Curly hair wants straight hair Straight hair wants curly No one is happy with them Edit -#me too

Artemya_Lunara: After all the Perm videos I have watched - this is the most natural and the best looking perm I have seen so far.

Jamie Nielsen: Its so pretty! I loved it after you washed it also. That is the look that I want on my hair!

Deysi Benitez: And yess having curly hair requires alot of maintenance! I use leave in conditioner plus gel on top of that. I only wash it once a week because it takes so long to air dry! I also use dry shampoo on top of that during the week. I have naturally curly hair and it's a struggle but I love my curls

kalicer: Que tal cambio muy bonito resultado de tu cabello, te queda perfecto. Me gusta como te quedo una gran diferencia con las ondas.

Mel: This was super helpful! Your videos are super professional looking and entertaining! I was super surprised you didn’t have a million subs

Gosia S: Your hair looks so good after the first wash!

Shianne McPherson: Ooh I actually really like it! I wonder if stylists are able to use smaller curlers to get tighter curls, or if it would be much more damaging

Leah B.: Not sure if someone suggested this to you already but maybe doing overnight curls would work for you or even hot rollers. I know their old school but they work. Also, I'm sure one of my curly hair sisters already suggested looking into the curly girl method. The maintenance on curly hair can be a lot of work but once you find your routine and products then it's not so bad. :)

Anaïs Lacroix: Hi Lena ! Thank you so much for this video. It helps me a lot on my process to getting one or not though I have one question and also one request (if it's not too much): 1) are you 100% Asian? Where are you from? Ofc, if I'm asking it's only to know how close it would look on me ☺️ (I'm Vietnamese btw) 2) could you just make a quick review before doing your next perm? So that we can know how long did it last and how it looks after all. That would be awesome! Thanks also if you read and reply to my comment bye beautiful !

Barchies bach: I think it looked so good after you washed it! Looks like my natural subtle curls

Caitlin_Jade May: DAmn girl I love the way your hair looks !!! 4:25 after one wash already looks BOMB ♥️♥️

Jenny Pederson: Great video. I am growing my hair due to not being able to get to the hairdressers. Its shoulder length now, and pretty straight, fairly thick. i'm 71! Always been particular about my hair. But it's hard knowing what to do with it, so yesterday I had a perm on ROLLERS.. to give it some volume. As I didn't want too much curl. What I got was hardly any curl. some waves. I'm so disappointed. NO heat was used to process the perm. and it was dried with a hair dryer not a diffuser, although I told her I used to use one. I was a hairdresser.. The doors were open because of Covid. rules salon was fairly warm. today it's fluffy fairly flat you can't tell I had a perm. Any advice please? PS It took a lot to have this done as I have fybromyalgia and my scalp gets very sore. It's a waste of £50.. Your'e hair looks lovely by the way. Jenny xx

Caroline Martin: I was thinking of a perm to maintain a vintage hair style, but omg I could never not brush my hair throughout the day. I’m so glad you mentioned that, I had no idea.

Ana: I use a waver for my hair to create those waves or curls like a perm and use the same Paul Mitchell foam, this is a way to create the look without a perm. I really thought about getting a perm but I’ve noticed it’s a lot of work to keep it the way you want it :(

cindy nguyen: thank you so much for this video! its very helpful as I’m thinking of perming my hair soon.

Tatiana b: Welcome to curly hair...looks cute...sometimes. Never going to get the same look more than once. And its 100 percent not effortless

Alexandra Meza Carett: 1 - curl smoothie or curl cream, 2- gel for curls, 3- scrunch, 4- diffuser

Lucy Allen: How different does the quality of the hair feel? Is it dry and split easily? I wanna get a perm on virgin hair I take care of it really well and don’t want to ruin it’s health

WeBeLight: i love how your perm turned out, looks more natural and even like a digital perm. i wanted a digital perm but was told i couldn't and wouldn't take because of old color in my hair. question- did you previously have color/bleach in your hair for this type of regular perm?

paty estrada: It looks so beautiful!

A K: You're nuts! It looks amazing after you washed it!

Vanguard Beauty Academy: Nice long hair perm, thanks for sharing your hair styles, we appreciate it by seeing all the hair duos!!!

amal issa: But your hair looks AMAZING!!!

KissedByFire Skye: Having naturally straight hair is easy for everyday styling but hard if you want volume and waves/texture/curls drop a lot. I would suggest getting a diffuser low heat low setting and flip your hair over to achieve for volume. Watching the lady do the perm she should’ve done smaller cleaner sections and put the end papers on the ends of your hair not covering the whole perm rods which stop fish hook ends I would suggest next time getting a tighter curl done as your hair is healthy and strong and perms do drop overtime but it’s up to you I love it on you and would love to get a perm ❤️

DiznilyLove: "It doesn't look as good as it did yesterday" and it's amazing mermaid waves lol. If it feels crunchy you have to break the cast by running your fingers/palms through it to soften it

meggie Qin: just here to say your natural straight hair looks gorgeous, but you are also stunning with curls

myyoutubepaige: Hi there!! i’m looking into getting a perm possibly just to have more volume and for something different. i was wondering what kind of perm or what size curls you did? it looks amazing btw

Nita Bhojwani: Your hair looks gorgeous! Definitely check out India Baston’s channel, she has a lot of great tips that will help with maintaining / refreshing waves!

Cory Surber: love it. now i need one. looks good after the shower too

Caroline Chiasson: After you washed it, it looked amazing!

Sylvana van Olffen: I have really straight and thick hair with absolutely no volume whatsoever, my hairdresser says I have the asian hair type (even though I'm not Asian, which makes it more confusing), and if I curl my hair with a curler, the curls always fall out after 15 mins. Do you think a perm will hold, or will it be a waste of my money to try it? You look lovely though! ❤

LaneWalkerz: If you do get another perm I highly suggest you get a diffuser for your blow dryer if you're concerned about the diffuser all it does is help Define your curls without blowing your hair all over the place it will change your routine in your hair results forever speaking from a curly haired girl also you don't necessarily have to wait you're 3 days to have to restart oil your hair then you don't necessarily have to keep putting product to restyle your hair I do have curl your hair than you do but what I do instead of adding more product on product second day maybe I need to restyle my hair I just use a spray bottle whatever product was there maybe I'll add a little bit more sometimes I don't need to do that I'll just use the diffuser over damp hair that I just sprayed with a bottle and you get the same result from the first time you wash your hair if need be that way preventing you from washing your hair as often and product build-up hope it helps

Strawberry Puppy: What number of curl level did you do ? Cause I LOVE your after and I want to do the same thing

Hailey.C: I want a perm as well, when I was little I had super tight curly hair and then as I got older it just became a wavy frizzy poofy mess so I’m hoping I can get my natural hair back

Nadia: Idk if that would’ve helped but there is like a routine of plopping hair. You prep it with curl activating products and some moisturiser and then put it in a towel and leave it on there for 30 minutes before drying. Hope it helps

Shenira Maharaj: Echo your sentiments and shock at the number of products to use and the amount of tangles. There's a science behind it. Str girls have a completely diff experience of hair compared to curly girls. That said ....i dig my perm too.

Atticus Orozco: Which salon did you go to? It came out looking amazing! Perms aren't as common as they were in the 80s and I don't want to go somewhere to get this done if the result isn't like yours.

naomi toguchi: you look amazing with both hairs

Nunnuv Yorbizniz: Hair looked great natural. Hair looked great permed. Dog looked great!

Alexandra Crofoot: Going sulfate and silicone free will help with reducing product buildup!

Jessica Copeland: Anyone with curly hair could have told you these cons. That's why we get straight perms and are envious of people with straight hair haha. So much less maintenance.

Carina Truong: Lena, now that it has been almost a year, how does your hair look like? Is this perm permanent?

Im SER1OUS: My hair is falling off... do you have any tips? before: silky, fine hair NO FRIZZ (actually it would get really flat) after: volume (WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR) BIGGEST ISSUE ): FRIZZ HAIR LOSS IN THE SHOWER AND OUT OF THE SHOWER

boobear: I was worried for you at first lol but it has turned out okay. Thanks for the honest follow up

Kayley Lewis: So, idk if you’ve figured this out, as I see this was filmed 7 months ago, but you should follow SOTC method. Put product in your hair when it’s WET, not damp, scrunch your hair with a t shirt or your hands, diffuse it to lock in curl. Once it’s COMPLETELY dry, scrunch again with a t shirt to scrunch out the crunch (SOTC). Don’t run your fingers through your curls, but rather clump the curls to maintain the look you’re wanting. There are certain products approved by the curly girl method, and certain ones that will weigh your curls down. Sleep in silk/satin head wrap or with silk pillow case.

misses elise: it doesn’t look like it did before you washed it bc you aren’t caring for it like the salon did (which is normal- they do SO much to your hair at a salon that ppl can’t or don’t want to do at home)

Maryam N: I think it looks reallyyyyyyy nice after wash:)

Nissam Iris: (this does not intend for any hate, I am just sharing my opinion here) I mean, I am a person who used to style my hair straight and is actually wavy, when making the transition I did commit myself to using loads of products and taking more time styling. Like I do think people in general think having curly/wavy hair is a piece of cake and when you said that using 4 products was too much for you, I did feel you but I did also think about how little people know about hair texture care in general (I am included, I recently understood it when styling my own hair).

Catherine Nieves: You do not have to wash it everyday. You can just rinse with conditioner. In terms of styling products, just use alittle of bit if anti frizz oil and a curl enhancer. Alittle goes a long way since you have fine hair. Your products might be weighing your hair down. Also, your conditioner might be weighing your hair down as well. You should lightly/ gently brush your hair with conditioner on to remove the tangles.

Stephanie Ryan: I love your hair!! What type of perm did you ask for? Is this a spiral perm?

Alexmarie: The cons list is legit normal curly hair characteristics and facts haha

leow zhiwei: hi! is this a cold perm or a hot perm? ive seen that you mentioned that its a regular perm, does it mean its a cold perm? :) thanks! your hair looks beautifullll btw, really want to get a perm for myself now :’)

Maddie: girl i just got a perm in quarantine and i really didn’t like it but you gave me some confidence i wash my hair every other day sometimes 2 and i’ve had the perm about 2 weeks. if you want some straighter more flat hair , try to brush while wet with conditioner starting at he ends. try to stay awake from heat and get trims often you look great btw

yeh.nah.: Thank you for updating here and there with time stamps. Not many people do that.

Mari Reeves: 1st Use detangler, 2nd Brush it before you wash it, add your mouse scrunch it, let it air dry a while then Diffuse it

jen law: I love your hair!! What's the exact name of the perm you asked for? xx

Jhea Paglumotan: i literally have the flattest straightest hair here and guurl what u mean i'm dying to have that hair of yours

Neve C: Her: ‘I use 4 products’ Every natural curly girl: ._.

Krystal Santrizos: Definitely check out Manes by Mel on YT for wavy/curly hair. I’d like to see a video on how you grow it out

Lydia the Glimmermaid: Looks SO GOOD!!!

Patricia W: I always wash my hair every other day and my perms last almost 6 months. I guess it depends on the person's hair, size of roller or the type of perm. Alkaline or acid? I think acid last longer.

The longest comment: "It just doesn't look as good as it did yesterday"... lol welcome to curly hair.

Alice Diógenes: The problem is people think a perm is like a permanent babyliss kind of style... it is not. Once you get a perm you have to learn how to take care of your hair as a curly or wavy hair, which is NOT EASY. This comes from someone who is currently going through a curly hair transition. I hard man

Ten Lamps: You only have to wait 3-4 days to wash when you get it. Then you can wash it whenever you need too.get a wet brush but a pick is best. Get a mouse for curly hair not volumizing. You need more knowlege

Teresa Atienza: I love it, how long does it last?

DENN: Love it

Kahlo Malinche: Welcome to life with curly/wavy hair a thousand products a thousand problems u cant brush cuz then i look like a shitzu

Jas Jas: Try some curly girl routines!!! ❤❤❤

Liz Gitschier: I have naturally wavy/frizzy hair would a perm give more of a curl long term than someone with very straight hair?

Lubina Petrova: it looks so good on you. I am thinking about getting a perm. How much does it cost?

A lina: 5:00 in my opinion looked better than 5:03

Alex Alex: girl your first wash off day looks GOOD haha

Rejoice and be glad!: I love it! That's sassy and beautiful!

Aline Scrobot: I looved your videos, girl<3]

Paola Namuncura: I loooove it!!!!!❤

Francisca Viola: It looks great

LilyK KLee: I once permed my hair and i was really lazy to add products to my curls...i ended up doning tangled sea kelp look the entire period i have the curls..months later i have to cut huge length of it because it was beyond rescue...i donno i might getting a perm again soon.

Anisa E: Hi Lena! Beautiful hair where did you get it done?

Justine Dominguez: Hi! may i ask what size the perm u got is? Thanks!

Skull Taylor: I LOVE your perm!!!

Emma Follett-Botha: Of course it won't look as good as it did when you came from the salon! But girl I feel like you're being very dramatic because your perm is PERFECT. All you literally have to do is part your hair to the side and you're ready to go.

Chris Schafer: Where did you get it? It looks really nice, I love it!
