How can you switch up your favourite wig to keep it fresh? Below are some easy (but effective) tips on how to make your wig look fabulous using accessories, and no new hairstyle required!

The range of wigs available has become more extensive and varied than ever. You can frequently see celebrities rocking wigs in lots of different styles. They also look more natural than ever, as materials and production processes have evolved to create a higher quality product than was previously imaginable.

But how can you switch up your favourite wig to keep it fresh? Simply put, accessorise, accessorise, accessorise.

Below are some easy (but effective) tips on how to make your wig look fabulous using accessories, and no new hairstyle required!

  • The old sunglasses-on-the-head trick.

The accessory that you can most easily wear on your head, is not an accessory even intended for the head – your sunglasses.  Pop these on top of your mane and they will help keep your wig out of your face whilst looking sleek and, let’s face it, classically cool.

  • Pick a hat, any hat.

Hats are probably the quickest and simplest way to accessorise your wig. The one you choose is completely occasion-dependant, with plenty of styles on offer. To protect your wig from any damage at the beach, a large floppy straw hat works wonders. A funky baseball cap would be great for casual occasions. For weddings, fascinators are hit all year round.

  • Transform your look with a chic headscarf.

This look is great for summer and looks trendy and bohemian. It will also help protect your wig if you’re going somewhere dusty, smoky, or especially sunny. There are a million different hair looks that you can create with a scarf, and you can find one in a variety of fabrics and designs.

  • Add some bling to your barnet.

This could be in the form of brooches or jewelled pins. Hair jewellery looks especially stunning with braids and buns. You can place them around the bottom of your bun, or above your ear. They can really bring your wig to life and add a touch of glamour to your overall look. However, we’d advise you to steer clear of tiaras – not an easy look to pull off!

  • Headbands aren’t just for kids.

Now, you might think you’d outgrown this particular hair accessory, but hear us out. Hairbands can look sophisticated if you pick the right one and pair it with the right style. Wear a bright and colourful one to dress up a simple ponytail. You can even get elegant ones which are delicate and gem encrusted to wear to special events.
