Finding the right hairstyle for your face shape is of course important, especially if you want to try a brand new look. The same is true when selecting a wig style or shape.

The right wig shape and style has the power to flatter your facial shape. It’ll highlight those angles that are uniquely yours as well as bring out the very best of your features. With this, you’ll feel even more beautiful and confident as a wig wearer. But, where do you start when choosing a wig shape or style that suits you?

As a leading supplier of high-quality wigs and hairpieces for women and men, our experts have the knowledge you need to pinpoint the wig style and shape that will work for you. Here we share our top tips and wig choices for each face shape.

Oval

If you’re blessed with an oval face, you can have your pick of many wig styles and shapes. This is one of the reasons why oval face shapes are generally revered.

Layers, light fringes, curls and waves all look great with this versatile face shape, especially if your oval face is a little longer. Side parted styles and blunt, straighter fringes are other fantastic options for long oval faces, and will provide a more balanced, flattering finish.

Medium to long length hair works better for oval faces. Although if you do want to go shorter, avoid the pixie cut and try an asymmetrical bob instead.

Try this on for size: Our Amber wig is the perfect choice for oval faced wig wearers and sports that flattering longer length, side parting, and angled fringe.

Long

Long or rectangular face shapes need to be shortened with their wig choice. A wispy fringe will do just that, whilst width can be added easily with layered, medium length hair that’s a little fuller on the sides. You should avoid styles that further elongate the face, such as long, straight wigs.

Try this on for size: Our Annabel wig has that flattering medium length, side parting, voluminous sides, and light, wispy fringe that looks great on long-faced wig wearers.

Round

The opposite is true when choosing a wig style and shape for a round face. Your selected style should add length so go for a longer, layered style that elongates and frames the face. Short styles and centre partings aren’t great choices for round face shapes and can make a full face appear even fuller.

Try this on for size: Our Alysa wig frames round faces perfectly and adds layered length. It also has subtle waves that flatter people with round face shapes.

Heart

Heart shapes need to use their wig style to bring balance to the lower part of the face. The Fast Fashion explains more about the style that will help you to achieve just that:

“If you have wide cheeks bones and forehead but a narrow and pointy jaw then you definitely have a heart-shaped face. The best choices for you are longer wigs or chin-length wigs with hairstyles that add volume to your face in the right places. You can go with side curly bangs, wigs with flicks or even kinky curly as well. But make sure to avoid extra short bob cuts or blunt bangs or a pixie style.”

Try this on for size: With its flattering side-swept fringe and a length that sits just under the jaw, the Keeley wig is ideal for heart-shaped faces.

Square

With the same width forehead, cheekbones and jawline, the key to balancing a square face is to soften its edges. You can do this with a textured style of any length with square-faced wig wearers able to pull off short and spiky styles, tousled bobs, and long, wavy cuts.

You should however steer clear of chin-length bobs and bluntly cut fringes as this will accentuate the square shape.

Try this on for size: The Layla wig will soften a square face no end. If you’d like to go for a straighter style, mix it up by styling in waves and curls.
