Find the perfect hair system adhesive

Your shortlisted bonds should be patch tested, especially if you have sensitive skin. Whether testing a tape or liquid adhesive, the same method can be used.

Simply place a small amount of adhesive behind the ear and leave it there for a few days.

You should swab the area with rubbing alcohol first. The same rubbing alcohol can be used to remove the adhesive once your three days are up. You can test two bonding products at the same time by applying adhesives behind each ear.

Upon removal, if the skin is bumpy, itchy or irritated, the adhesive that’s responsible should not be used. Only test other adhesives in the same spot once the skin has fully healed.

Give your scalp a thorough cleanse

Before you attach your new hair system, cleanse the scalp thoroughly. Wash your scalp, head and hair with a deep cleansing shampoo to rid the skin and hair of any residue and sebum.

This treatment will also balance the pH of the skin to ensure happier, healthier hair system wear.

Dry the hair and scalp, preferably with a hairdryer, to remove all moisture. Now work on the area that will be bonded to your system. It has to be completely hair-free so use an electric razor to achieve the desired smooth finish. You’re now ready for your hair system!
