Here at Wigs4u, we understand just how important finding the right hair system colour match is.

Discovering an exact match to your natural hair can mean the difference between feeling your most confident when wearing your wig and being conscious of your new real human hair or synthetic addition.

Whether you’re opting for a hair system or a full head wig, the following tips will help you discover a shade that is oh-so-you!

Use a colour chart as a guide

The World Wide Web is a wonderful thing. As well as giving you access to a range of high quality, natural-looking full head wigs and hairpieces via our website, you’ll be able to access colour charts at the click of a button to determine a shade that suits you.

You’ll find colour charts for each Wigs4u product in the dropdown below ‘Buy Online’ and be able to browse a long list of shades to find the best option for you.

Please be aware that colour charts should be used as a guide. Due to differing resolutions and device variations, they might not be an accurate representation.

Hire a colour ring from us

The most accurate way to try different shades and find the perfect match for your natural hair is by hiring a colour ring.

We have two colour rings for hire – our 100% human hair colour ring and synthetic colour ring. They’ll be with you within days, so you can discover the right colour to cater to your needs.

You can keep hold of our colour rings for up to 10 days to make sure you are set on your perfect match.

Complement your skin tone

It’s not just about matching your natural locks. If you’re opting for a full-hair system or wig, complementing your skin tone with the perfect hair shade becomes even more important.

Your skin tone is defined by a pigment, which in turn determines how warm or cool your complexion is.

From here, you can dig deeper into specific skin undertones – warm skin can have peach, gold, and yellow undertones while cool complexions have violet, blue, and pink.

The ‘wrist test’ can be used to determine your skin tone. Just check the colour of the veins in your wrist, if they appear green or yellow, you have a warm tone. Alternatively, if they appear blue or purple, you’re cool-toned.

What you wear can also help you decipher that all-important skin tone as Annmarie Skin Care explains:

“Cool tones look good in deep, vibrant colours, such as blue, purple, and emerald-green. Warm tones glow in earth tones like red, orange, yellow, and olive-green. If you can wear both shades, you have neutral undertones.

Another test: picture yourself in a yellow or orange shirt. If it gives you a great glow, you’re warm. If it makes you look a little sickly, you’re cool. If you look good but not great (like warms), you may be neutral.”

Your new hair system should work with your skin tone if you’re looking for a natural, flattering look. Warm skin tones pop when combined with chocolate, warm brown, honey, or amber hairpieces and wigs. Cool-toned men look great in black, ashy brown, blonde, auburn, and even grey hair systems.
