Top tip: Before you work the topknot, separate the tendril – it’s SO much easier than trying to pull out a section of your hair once the topknot is in place. So, start with the center parting and section a piece of hair that’s roughly two or three fingers in width. Clip this section and set it to one side, then create the topknot. To add to that undone feel, flip the tendril in the opposite direction à la Dua Lipa.

 

Regardless of your hair length, you can find a way to work a tendril. The easiest way is to curl it as this will instantly shorten the length. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the size of the tendril, thin tendrils give the look a 90s vibe, while larger sections add a grown-up feel.
