Braided Heart Headband, Valentine'S Day Hairstyles

Visit http://princesshairstyles.com for more hairstyle ideas.

Each year since we began blogging (in 2008) we have added a few heart hairstyles to our Valentine's Day Hairstyles collection. Some of them were from before we even started making videos on YouTube and include a "pictorial" instead of video instructions. But, if you are looking for more heart hairstyle ideas or Valentine's styles in general, feel free to visit our blog here: http://www.princesshairstyles.com/sear... At last count, we had over 20 different hearts styles to choose from!

For our last Valentine's style this year, we chose a "braided heart headband" which is inspired by a photo we saw on Instagram last February on "chikas_chic" account: http://instagram.com/chikas_chic We thought this braided headband was so cute and girly that we had to share it. I think it has to be one of our favorite heart hairdos of all time. ;)

We chose to finish our style off with a side ponytail the day we filmed our tutorial. But of course, if you would rather leave your hair mostly down, this hairstyle is super cute worn as just the headband itself.

Hope you all have a happy valentine's day!

Hey guys today we're going to be doing a cute heart, headband hairstyle and I have started by making a part from ear to ear. So I just start it over here and then went all the way across and then we're going to come over here to the one side and part out a little rectangle section right here, and you want to place this section where you want your heart to start. I like ours down a little bit lower, but it's really up to you where you want to place this alright. Now I'm going to take this hair that I sectioned out and just place it in a small rubber band and then you're going to want to pull this out from her head a little bit just so that it's not super tight because you don't want it to Hurt when you flip this through with the Topsy tail, but I'm just going to take this and put my Topsy tail underneath and then flip this up through the top, so that the hair is facing this way and then for now, I'm just going to take this Hair and clip it out of the way while I make the braid, so all of this hair is just going to come back over to this side and I'm going to make a Dutch braid from this ear. Over to this point, you can do a lace braid. If you want or a French braid, it really doesn't matter starting down here by her ear and just splitting this piece of hair into three and I'm going to begin the Dutch braid. So I'm taking the outside strands and I'm bringing them underneath the middle strand. And then I'm going to be adding in hair from both the front and the back of the braid and again, if you want to make a lace braid, you can just add hair into the front strand and that will make the braid sit back closer to the Part, if you prefer that look okay, i braided this down to the point where I've brought in all of the hair above this section here. So I'm going to go ahead and unclip this ponytail and then I'm going to bring this piece of hair right through the center of my braid. So I'm just going to spread those strands apart and grab this piece and pull it up through and then again I'm going to clip it up here, just so that it stays out of my way while I'm finishing the braid, I'm just going to go ahead and Continue that braid, just where I was so you just kind of braid over that section without bringing any hair in from the sides, and then you continue with the Dutch braid just going to tie the end of that off temporarily for now. So at this point, if you want to go back through this braid and loosen it up to make it bigger and mess you're looking, you can do that and then I'm going to unclip this split this strand in half and then braid both sides strands braided. I'M just going to form these into a heart shape and then secure them with an elastic cooking on two of this braids, the smaller you make this heart, the more likely it's going to hold its shape. If you try to get those too big, it's going to be kind of droopy and you might need some bobby pins to hold it in place. So I'm just going to make ours pretty small, and then I'm going to tie it off right here at the bottom. After you have this, he last again you can pull the edges of this out or you can pull them in whatever you need to do to get the desired heart shape that you want, and then you can remove these extra elastics. Okay, that is the finished headband. You can either leave it just as it is, or you can pull her hair over into a side ponytail, which i think is really cute. It kind of helps to hold all of this in place to add a bow here at the ponytail
