Hi everybody, my name is Brittany, gray, I'm owner and stylist at beach, vibes Beauty Studio here at salon, Republic, Hermosa Beach. Today I have my beautiful model Ashley here and we are going to do a curly hair cut on her. So are you excited? Ok? So let's get started now so during my process I boiled a hair down before I detangle it. So that way you do not damage the hair, because curly hair is so fragile. The tighter the curl, the more fragile it's gon na be so we're gon na oil. Her hair I'm gon na detangle. It then we're gon na, do a dry haircut, I'm gon na wash her hair and then I'm gon na put some product in her hair and send her on her way. I like to lubricate the hair first, because you know, like I said, curly hair is just so fragile and this is so important because, if you're gon na detangle it while it's dry, it needs to have some sort of moisture to it. So this just makes the process a little bit more gentle on the hair and then also more gentle on a client's scalp anytime, you detangle your hair, I'm using a wet brush, so this the bristles of this brush flex over any knots. So when you hear it might hear, I mean it might sound like it's very harsh on the hair, but it's actually very gentle, and I prefer to use this over a wide tooth comb. Sometimes, when the hair is dry just because it can be just a little bit more gentle gets the job done faster. Like me, go so fast all like captain Miss Powell. Okay, I remember you girl. You called me Whitney Houston thinking that it was cute and then I would be flattered by it, but I went home and I cried sorry. This video game keep getting weird confession of a traumatized hairstylist Miss Powell. You gave me a complex about my curly hair. Okay, calling me Whitney Houston in kindergarten. I was leaving. It was like the end of the day. You know. Eventually, the natural hair movement came along and I learned to embrace it and I'm so grateful for having seen the beautiful thing about curly hair is that, yes, it's curly, it's beautiful and it's so unique, but you also have the versatility of straightening it. You know it's hard to go from straight to to this kind of curly. You know you're talking about you need to get a wig you're in here in wig status. At that point, or you needed you know, so it's so versatile and just it's worth all the effort. So when you're dealing with curly hair when you're cutting curly hair, you actually do not always have to use texturizing shears. Of course, it depends on the type of curl that you are working with and the density of the clients hair, but for this hair, for instance, you don't need a texturized, because when you texture eyes too much her hair, her hair doesn't need it, because some curls Are already gon na bounce in and some we're gon na stay out a little bit more, and so it almost like it's almost like the hair is already texturized. Naturally, please. This is one of my philosophies. Each curl has its own life. You know each curl has its own personality, so some curls they want to bounce up and be super springy and tight some curls. They want to be, you know and they change every day right. You know. Sometimes you wake up and your curls loose. Sometimes it's tight. Sometimes it's it's just you know, so that's why I like to just brush all the hair out and then cut it that way, as opposed to cutting each individual curl, as is because you know, you never know how your curls, what your curls are gon na want To do when you wake up, and so you have to treat all the curls equally after you know, when you're done cutting curly hair, you should kind of step back and look at the shape and like to me. This is framing her face and making her look. Like a glowing angel, so that's how I know that the haircut is complete, so we are going to shampoo her hair and then I'm gon na bring her back and then put some product in it. She can come okay, so I just finished: Ashley's haircut, I'm just gon na double check my work, cross-check, her hair cut. It make sure it's all nice and even and then I might wet it down a little bit more because the trick to having your best curls is working with wet hair and then using product okay. So that is what we're gon na do now. So I prefer using curl creams over gels or mooses, because creams are going to be hydrating to the hair as they are defining the curls so from there I like to sometimes you know you can just wash and go and leave the hair like that. But sometimes I like to take little pieces of curl I like to take little pieces of hair and then just twist them, because that helps to define the curl and make it look more like that versus like that, we're all done with Ashley's hair. So i detangled her hair right after i didt down. We did a dry haircut, we shampooed we conditioned and then I applied a curl cream and twisted her hair and she is just going to go home and air dry just like this, and if you have more of a fine hair, texture or less density, then you Can use a diffuser and that's just gon na give you more volume and bigger hair, and I don't know about you watching or you, but I love big hair. Ok, there's a time of the place for a small hair, there's a time and place for a big hair, ok um that was probably stupid, but whatever um. So if you have any questions regarding hair, then feel free to send me a direct message on Instagram at Brittany, gray and other than that. Follow me on youtube, youtube.com, slash, Britney gray and thank you Ashley for coming in today, and let me and letting me do your beautiful hair. Oh so it was so exciting for me, you have an idea. Ok, so that's it for this video. Thank you for watching. Bye

Curlz4dayzz: Oh my goodness that’s me!! yay She did an amazing job my hair finally has shape. Thank you Brittney. ♥️♥️♥️

Marla Robinson: Brittney is so adorable. This was a lot of work but the final result is great.

elinor kent: LOVE this video! i wish every hairstylist would know how to cut and understand curly hair like this

VivPhotography: Thank you for mentioning the whole "treat curls equally" :) I don't get the devacut logic. I have wavy hair and each piece can be wavier or straighter from one day to the next - it never waves exactly the same. So why do people think it's a good idea to cut hair curl-by-curl based on the curliness of that day? 1) It'll curl differently the next time you style it, and 2) it won't be even if you decide to style your hair straight.

Keemie L: Cut looks great on her but I would have probably started to panic about getting a curly cut on combed out hair. My hair has so many textures: wavy on top, curly in the middle, looser on the bottom, frizzy at the crown. Last cut I had was on combed out wet hair and so the shape wasn’t completely even after it dried. I left the salon with wet hair so I had to rock with it. Can’t figure out how to get a minimal trim with a great shape from a stylist.

Cosmic Queen: Ok. My problem is I live in France but I don't want anybody other than Britney to do my hair

Blueangel 97: Such stunning results! I hope that one day you make a video about transforming very thin hair to the most volumized and luscious it can possibly be.

Alyjah Flakes: Wow that final result was so good! I was a little shook at your method and as a curly girl the dry coming triggered me a little but wow that hair cut is gorgeous and the shape really does so much for her lewk!

Dante Velasquez: I completely agree about your hair philosophy. That's one of the issues I have with deva cuts. The curls will not always dry or lay in that same way as they did when you cut them. Great cut :-)

TheWhiskeyBlue: Love working on curly hair! I'm excited to learn more tips and tricks on how to cut curly hair, and to learn how to improve my skills

Kirstie Blaire: Omg i was waiting on the edge of my seat for the after photos & whoo i was not disappointed! Her hair looked SOO BOMB!!! Ugh im like seriously tryna make an appt with you to get my haircut/shaped when it grows out more. I had to big chop due to my hair being damaged from going blonde & they cut it in a pretty blunt bob which is real cute when my hair is straightened but i literally never wear my hair out when its curly because the shape is boxy & stupid!

gallaxyquest: Amazing hair cut looks stunning, so appreciate seeing gentle curly hair techniques as it educates me in know what to look for in a good stylist

David Gutierrez: When are we getting a salon studio tour? Also your hair is looking amazing love the middle part

smarsh2307: This was so therapeutic to watch! Beautiful results!

Polly: Oh god... If all hairstylists were like you... Having the know-how on how to treat curly and coily hair is what defines the hairstylist. Treating straight hair all of them can. Straightening hair all of them do (but not all succeed). But treating curly hair. Boss level! Thanks for the video Brittney! Finally someone on YouTube who doed know what to do w/curly hair. Brandon could never. What? Jk

Bam Chariphu: You're so talented and you can really see that you care so much about hair

abbyscozyvlogs: I LOVE her videos!!! She is one of the reasons I decided to start a channel

g l: I’d do everything to get my hair done by you

pilsers12: I could see how exciting you were doing her hair, I need you in my life Brittney! it came out so gorgeous wow

Shel Unknown: I was expecting to hear her apologize. I experienced the same exact thing when I was called Whitney and look nothing like her. Also called Tina Diana etc . If you had any kind of big hairstyle certain people want to relate you to a famous brown skin person but now it’s becoming more acceptable to embrace our hair texture which was beautiful to begin with. Much love

Holo Hoops: thank you for this! I’m not sure I’ll ever trust a stylist again with my hair. I’d love to find someone that cares about the health of my hair like I do, but until then I’ll cut it myself lol

Rosa C: Beautiful! I wish I could find people here that took the time to learn to tame mine I have the same texture hair and It’s so hard to find people that aren’t afraid to actually deal with the thickness

Nataly 239: Loveee this video. Her hair looked amazing at the end ❤️

E P: Great video! There were a lot of helpful tips in this that I will apply to my own curls

Deonia Bailey: Looks great I wish we had stylist like you in Memphis Tennessee the stylist that cut my hair butchered it. Great job girl her hair was/ is gorgeous!!!!

fred6059: I wish she could help me grow my hair. I would trust her completely. My own stylist is trying but doesn't seem to know more than the basics. Nice job girl!

ღ Opal Chip ღ: If only I could find a hairstylist that did that to my hair here in London!! I haven't found anybody to trust with my hair and I'm in desperate need of a trim

Jessica C: You are my only favorite hair channel You make entertaining and informational videos! Love you

Leslie E Martinez: The end result is beautiful! Such a nice shape and those curls were juicy!

charyd76: Wow! Amazing job Brittney. She looks like a model! So sweet :)

Jayda Currie: Lmao at the “small hair and big hair” philosophy. Love you brittney!!!

rockinpoison89: You look very professional and elegant in this all black outfit ✨

Sarah C: Oh my goddd her hair is GORGEOUS!!! More videos like this please, I love seeing you work!

Sweetzs100: “You called me Whitney Houston thinking I’d be flattered by it and I went home and I cried” LMAOOOOO I CANT LOL. I remember one time someone told me I looked like Zendaya Coleman and since I don’t think she’s pretty I was so upset at that but they meant it as a compliment. Y’all gotta be careful comparing people to others

BTS LoveMyself: The result looks beautiful ❤️

AstralM0nster: Yaaaas I need more curly hair education

Erika Alvarez: Do you ever use a diffuser? And would you ever use this technique and then use a diffuser? I’m a fellow hairstylist and I love your channel

Lindsay Diaz: 2 queens we live for a good texture like that! Her hair looked amazing good job Brittney

Raven Wilson: Love this!! More videos like this please!

Tania Lizeth: Beautiful job!!! She looks great

Lyric H.: I wish somebody around where I lived had the knowledge to handle my 4a/3c curls I'd like a curl cut, but there aren't any curl masters ‍♀️ the natural hair struggle is real

Yvonne Kateleza: Hope someone can help; I have two young daughters with a hair type very similar to this woman. Just wondering what age would you say is best go get their first cut? And how often from then?❤

Daniel Bradley: Very informative video, and what an adorable outro to the video! :)

Moxy O'Onyx: Beautifully bsaid. Beautifully done. New subbie!

Domac: omg I love Brittney's outfit!!! and the client was stunning!

SEVENTHturtle: I think how Brittany showed that there's more than one way to cut curly hair. I would rather have an even hair cut because then it looks great even if you style it a different way.

Linda Mai-Chou: Love! If I hadnt moved away from LA to SEA, I would totally book an app with you! Love your website as well!

Sweetzs100: Brittney looks so cute in this video love the outfit, hair and body!

Sophie Fradkin: Britney I love your haircut! What should ask for in the salon to get something similar? Cheers from Israel :)

Nicole Brown: Please work on 4c hair...I would love to see you do it.

𝕰𝕯𝖊𝖓𝖎𝖘𝖘𝖊: Congratulations girl, very nice work

Black Opal: I wish I lived in the Los Angeles area, i would love to have you cut my hair. You really seem to understand curl patterns and how they can look and act differently from day to day and different parts of my hair have different patterns. And you look bomb asf. That outfit is breathtaking.

SuperMommav: I LOOOOOOOOOVE me some Brittney, for all of her non hair content and most of her hair content but we all know that the hair content is only for some Biracial and Caucasian hair. All y’all in the comments talkin bout some type 3c to type 4 hair need to quit it.

Jade McDaniel: I love the end result! What curl cream did you use in her hair?

Michelle T: Wow her hair turned out gorgeous. What kind of curl cream did you use?

Not so Sure: Wow...I have hair similar to that and it is soooo damaged. A lot of people don't think a black person can have fragile thin hair.. Now ima go try this

MariniSol: Her hair looks really pretty

Jessica C: Love your work

Juucize: Can you do more curly hair videos please! Like more info about curly hair and the different types and how to work with them?!

Kayla Green: So excited for this one!!

S H: Such a shame I live in London. You have so much knowledge. Would love more of these educational videos.

Steph Lyndsey: Do you get relaxers Brittney and how often? Great video

Izzy: Don’t live in California but would love for brittney to do my hair stinks living a few states away

Krista S.: I wish I lived closer to you. You are a hair genius. I am never happy when I have my long, thick curly white girl hair cut.

MeldorftheGreat: Girl, that big hair was beautiful!! Great ending.

Vivyenne Elaris: What is advantage of cutting the curly hair dry? My hairstylists would always cut my hair wet and then straighten it.

Rush Dos: Omg I live in the Netherlands, but going to LA in May/June, I’d love to get my curls done by you

c.h: Yall already know I’m liking this video before it comes out

Dann Vasquez: I love this technique !!

Fathia Maani: May I ask what oil did you use to lubricate her hair?

Sunshine6Lemons: Question, why did your client leave the salon with wet hair? Was it her choice or yours? Is that normal practice? Is it an extra charge to finish the style? Asking for honest answers

brownbombshell xy: Do you have any curl creme recommendations that work better for high porosity hair?

Shel Unknown: Man I was hoping to see the end result of her hair but I get the idea

ten sixteen: How do you see where her curls live if you brush them out? So strange to call this a curly cut ?!? Would love to see what this cut translated to when she wore her curls in its natural state and not a manipulated coil like you did
