Jhene Aiko has been rocking some faux locs, and I honestly do not have an opinion either way on this one, so I am going to let you guys decide right off the bat. Comment below and let us know if you are feeling Jhene Aiko’s faux locs. The thing about this style – which is different to about any other faux locs post we might put out there – is the idea that faux locs would not be the first choice for some of us for her.

The cool thing is, it isn’t our choice like with everything, but it’s still cool to see the opinions. Her hairstyle has brought up ideas of cultural appropriation because again, faux locs are seen as a traditionally ‘black style’, and she isn’t black. Is it that serious? Of course not; some people have gone as far as saying that she should stop trying to be black, but then others have said her dad is black, so why not? Again, not that serious.

I think if I had any general thought on her, it would not be about hair, it would just be the level of exposure she has been afforded because of the way she looks in comparison to many of the black women on the R&B scene.

For example, she was on the Ellen show singing her very popular song that Ellen says she loves very much. But if it were Keyshia Cole, would she have been on the show so quickly making her debut? But that’s another blog!

In other news, she has been boo’ed up lately with Dot Tha Genius, with speculations of it getting pretty official. He looks so much older than her, but they both talk about each other quite often through social media. Again, that’s another blog.
