We gave you a first look at the Solange’s wedding last night on social media as soon as the pictures started to put cracks in the internet this weekend. As the dust settles and the internet attempts to repair itself we have had a chance to really look at the wedding, at Solange’s style and really gather our thoughts on the whole thing.

I don’t know about you but apart from Solange’s unique and classy style, the fact that she wore her fro the way she did spoke volumes to me. The fact that baby Blue had the same fro to match her auntie told little girls everywhere that its ok to wear your hair just the way it grows out of your head and not be ashamed of it.

You see we are still in a world that ridicules the way we look, women and children are still being made fun of about there appearance starting with the very strands growing from their head. If you don’t believe me, just check our inbox on any given day, we will show you the emails!

When a woman looks in the mirror and cannot accept herself because she hates her hair it shows us that we still have work to do when we try to break the psychological patterns that have been imposed on us from our history.

Solange did more than just have a fabulous one of a kind wedding, she put her fro on the cover of Vogue, obviously we haven’t seen the covers yet for any magazine, but I know they are working hard right this minute to get the first pictures out because “this will sell”.

We would have never seen this in 1970, 1990 or even in the year 2000, but we will get to see it in 2014 as more and more women start to accept that wearing your hair the way it is..is just as fabulous as hair straight and “down to there.”

Solange looked like a black queen with her subjects all in tow, and Blue looked like the little princess she always is. As you look at the pictures again, think about how far we have come in our natural journeys and how much freedom we will have knowing that if we wear our hair just the way we like it.

If not for the fashion, (that jumpsuit was everything girl!) I want to say thank you Solange, thank you for doing you, and staying true to yourself, but most of all, thank you for the Fro.
