I Can’t Believe No One Told Her That Her Ponytail Was Falling Off!

snickeringHave you ever been put in an awkward situation when you have to help someone out so that they won’t continue to walk around looking crazy? Well that was me the other day.

I was out at the National Harbor outside of DC with a friend. The weather was perfect so there were tons of people out walking around enjoying the beautiful day.

As we were walking I kept noticing people snickering and laughing and I was trying to figure out what was going on. I looked around and then I saw an African American woman, probably in her 30s, and her faux ponytail was hanging on by a string.

Literally, by the drawstring. All you could see was her ball of hair where the ponytail was once attached and the hair flopping on her back behind her.

Instead of laughing or ignoring the fact like so many of the other people out there did, I ran to catch up with her and tell her about the situation. She was completely oblivious that her ponytail had fallen off and was so embarrassed. I offered to go into a nearby bathroom with her to fix it and I had a few extra bobby pins* in my bag that could help secure it.

She took me up on my offer and in just 3 minutes she was good as new! She offered to buy me dinner to thank me for the good deed but I quickly declined and said that it was nothing to help her out because I’d hope someone would do it for me.

As I walked on with my friend I then expressed that I can’t believe we live with so many immature people who instead of helping someone out when something’s off will laugh and make jokes.

I was glad to help out the woman but it’s a shame that no one else even stopped and thought about it first.
