Get Your Hair Done At Home With The New “Colour" App

Colour App
How would you feel if you could get your hair done at home at a time of your choosing? This is what the new app, Colour, is all about.

The founder, Debra Shigley, felt that black women are nowhere close to being the focus of the beauty industry. Even though they spend a lot more time at the salon than straight-haired women, the hair care and beauty markets do not really consider them.

She got the idea for Colour to help black women feel included as the app lets them have their hair style on-demand and wherever they are. Shigley hopes that the app will allow users to get salon-fresh hair without spending a lot of money on going to the salon.

Basically, the app works by users going through the app’s look book and selecting their style. Next, you choose the time and date you will be available. You can request for a particular stylist.

However, this is not assured of happening because they might not be available in your time slot. You can upload a photo of yourself to allow Shigley’s team to see which stylist will be the best fit for you. The app also allows you to experiment with various styles and looks.

Shigley’s app is essential to black women because it reduces the cost of going to a salon unannounced, or even with an appointment.

If you have kids, you can keep an eye on them while getting your hair done. In addition, the app will eliminate horror stories related to salons where the stylists might be unfamiliar with your hair.

As for stylists, they are hired through auditions. The more specialized you are–whether it’s braiding or blow drying–the better.

Colour is currently only available in Atlanta. However, Shigley plans to expand across the country, from Chicago to New York.
