Struggling With Your Braid Out? 6 Steps To Braid-Out Perfection

A braid out is simply braiding your hair in sections and then unraveling each section to reveal defined textured curls all uniformed and perfect.

The truth is many of us have yet to know what braid out perfection looks like for our own hair. It is not easy to nail down the style especially when you have a certain vision in your head of what your hair should look like.

In this post, I wanted to give you 6 steps you can follow that will help you to perfect your braid out. With that said, let’s get started.

1. Start out on clean hair

If you cleanse your scalp and hair then you will give your products a chance to work they way they should without interacting with old product and excess oil.

2. Work in sections

The smaller the section the more defined the results, so if you want very defined results separate your hair into at least 6 sections and then separate even further if that isn’t enough for you.

Another way to determine the size of your section is through detangling. This means the section should be small enough to run a Denman or detangling comb through.

3. Detangle thoroughly

This is so vital to a great set, so be deliberate with detangling, approaching each section with your detangling tool with care. Ensure that you have enough product in the section to make detangling a breeze.

4. Ensure that your set dries

If you want a frizz free braid out then you have to ensure that your hair is 100% dry. If any parts of your hair are damp or wet, your hair will frizz and you might end up with a fail on your hands.

5. Only use a pick on the roots

If you must pick your hair out, just pick the roots to get rid of the parts. Do not pick too much as your hair will get bigger on its own.

6. Your braid out is a reflection of your curl pattern

No two braid outs are the same so if you are looking at someone else’s results and hoping your hair will look like that, you might want to rethink your focus.
