Clips Ins As A Protective Style?

I’d like to think that my hair journey has made me a bit adventurous. I’ve learned to try out different styles, color rinses and am even on the road to texlaxed.

One thing I’ve always wanted to try, but couldn’t conjure up the spirit for is a sew in weave*. There’s something about not being able to get to my scalp for months that imparts fear in me. I feel like I’d be trapped.

I’ve experimented with braids with extensions* before and the difference there is that I did them myself meaning I wouldn’t feel obligated to keep them in for too long because the hair is reasonably priced and I don’t have to pay for labor costs. Plus, I still had plenty of access to my scalp.

However, since I am not skilled enough to do my own sew in and netting will be a direct barrier between my scalp and I there is no getting around said fear…or so I thought. Who would have thought that clip ins* could be used in basically the same way as a sew in?

It turns out that this is a great protective style that will still allow you the versatility to wear your hair down (like a sew in) but with the added plus of being able to take them out and tend to your hair on wash day as usual.

Although Missy Lynn in the video below used a cap you could also braid your hair in rows and attach the clips onto the braids that way. Plus, like she mentioned, clips ins are super easy to make at home meaning you can customize them to your own head!

With winter rapidly approaching this will be a great way to protect my ends from the cold while still rocking some of the styles I love. Check out the video below by Missy Lynn
