Alicia James does Cocoon Curls - Holiday Hair

It’s that time of year again when we are picking out those deep dark lip colors including a classic sexy red and getting ideas for holiday hair. Holiday hair is all the buzz now, everyone is talking about it and if you have a ton of parties lined up I am sure you welcome the information.

We have been following suit here on the blog, and we have been showing you some pretty dope styles, and well what can I say we have another one.

Have you ever heard of Alicia James? She is a very popular Youtuber, best known for her soulful voice, beautiful songs and really great hair. This week she did a video showcasing her version of holiday hair using Cocoon Curls.

I was first introduced to Cocoon Curls by Naptural85 and I thought it was an innovative way of getting sexy curls by just using your hair and no heat. Alicia demonstrates her version in a video that is a definite must share, so here goes:

As usual we have a few tips to make sure your curls come out great.

Tip One – Use Your Old Style

You have the option to start out with old stretched textured hair, this could be an old wash and go, twist out or braid out. This is great because if you are in a bind and you do not have time to wash and you just need to do something quick and glamorous, this might be the style for you.

Tip Two – Moisturize

Moisturize with something water based. For best results you want to make sure your curls are hydrated, so go ahead and use your aloe vera juice*, water based leave in or just plain water to give your thirsty hair some love. The wetness also helps to set the curls.

Tip Three – Seal

Usually we would put moisturize and seal in the same category but this time we want to emphasize the importance of sealing in your moisture with an oil or butter. Winter air is cold and dry and your hair can only keep the moisture you put in it to survive the weather. With that said sealing in the moisture is just as important as moisturizing.

Tip Four – Accessorize

We love Alicia’s head band and because the top half of your hair is smooth, a head band looks great. But you can opt to use anything you like that looks elegant or you can just let your curls go naked.
