Super Defined Shiny Flat Twist And Curl Using Flaxseed Gel

When I first saw Samirah Gilli’s new video on my YouTube timeline I was amazed at how bouncy her hair looked; so I had to watch it. Her super defined and shiny flat twist and curl style is everything and more. Her hair looked so shiny and full, it’s just simply amazing.

I have not tried this style yet but I sure will and I totally think you should try this as well. In this tutorial you will learn how to flat twist and how to get your hair to be curly and bouncing with lots of volume and shine.

So how did she get her hair looking so gorgeous? She started with freshly washed and detangled hair. Below are all that you will need to achieve this look.

Rat-Tail Comb – This was used section the hair for each flat twist.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil* – The oil was used to seal in the moisture in from the water. This is a great oil to penetrate your hair and seal in moisture. It is also very inexpensive.

Whipped Shea Butter – Shea butter* is great for locking in the oil and moisture. She made this whipped butter herself. You can make your own or use a thick Shea butter* cream that you already have.

Flax Seed Gel – Flax Seed gel is a natural and inexpensive home-made gel that is used to define and hold your styles without the crunchiness normally associated with store-bought gels. She also made this flax seed gel herself. She is surely a DIY person.

Perm Rods* – To achieve the bouncy curls she used perm rods* on the ends of her twists.

Denman Brush* – This was used to detangle the hair and smooth the products through the hair. You can use any denman-like brush that distributes product through your hair without damaging it.
