What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

I am currently under an apprenticeship under Traci Jefferson, owner of Traci J’s Trendsetterz Beauty Salon. I have been apprenticing for one year.

What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

I specialize in natural hair, sew-ins, locs, soft styles, and children’s hair care.

What in your opinion is the most rewarding thing about working as a hair stylist?

As a stylist,  I love bringing joy to people. I believe that one’s perception of themselves starts with feeling beautiful and confident. I love to see my clients react to their new looks; seeing a mother teary eyed after she sees her baby girl with a beautiful head of hair is so rewarding!

When you meet that customer that has not had a great experience with a previous stylist, how do you make them comfortable while in your chair?

I always tell my clients to ask questions. I feel like the most fear people have is from simply not knowing what someone is doing to their hair; therefore, if a client wants to hold the mirror while I’m styling, I let them. They eventually ease up and put the mirror down.

If you could change one thing about the cosmetology industry what would that be?

I would make Cosmetology a 4 year science degree. I feel like (to some) cosmetology isn’t considered a “true profession”.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now, what are your goals as a stylist?

As of now my goal is to build clientele. I’m not familiar with the area I work in, so I would like to expand my services. I also want to gain as much knowledge as possible, so that I may fulfill any potential service request.

How do you stay motivated and on top of your game?

I stay motivated my staying up-to-date with hair trends and not being afraid to try new looks. If I’m asked to do a style that I’ve never done before, I still book the appointment. I research and look the style up and teach myself! I’ve never had any mishaps!

Here is your chance to sell you ‘the stylist’ and your business, tell us why we should utilize your services?

One thing I focus on is quality. I never have clients waiting all day for appointments, but I do believe in taking adequate time to ensure each client is happy. I also give hair consultations after every style. I go into detail as how to care for their hair at home, products to buy, and I make to let each client know that I’m only a phone call away.

Where can we find you and how can we contact you for an appointment?
