Hello! My name is Desi! I am a young stylist new to the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I am Paul Mitchell based and I specialize in all phases of hair, extensions*, as well as braiding.

How long have you worked as a licensed cosmetologist and where did you study?

Not too long, but I’ve been doing hair for over 10 years. I studied @ Paul Mitchell the School Cinncinnati.

What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

Relaxed as well as natural hair.

What in your opinion is the most rewarding thing about working as a hair stylist?

Making people happy and meeting new guests from ALL walks of life.

When you meet that customer that has not had a great experience with a previous stylist, how do you make them comfortable while in your chair?

Clarify their needs and tend to those needs as much as possible. Not necessary to focus on everything they were dissatisfied with last time.

If you could change one thing about the cosmetology industry what would that be?

I would change the mentality that stylist develop. Some just seriously focus strictly on the compensation part and not always the rewarding part.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now, what are your goals as a stylist?

I see myself happy and behind a chair. My goals are to have a loyal and growing clientle success in all that I do and to making my passion my paycheck but maintain my confidence and happiness in what I love to do.

How do you stay motivated and on top of your game?

I follow as many of my “role models” and hair icons in this industry and I am always trying to go to classes and keep up on the latest trends. I read magazines, watch blogs, and try new techniques on myself to keep me In the loop. Also the YouTube sensation has been beneficiary to me as well.

I am motivated, determined, as well as driven!!! I love what I do and I believe that is what’s I’m important!
