A DIY Hair Recovery Mask You Can Use On Every Wash Day

A DIY Hair Recovery Mask

I don’t know about you but my major wash day is typically on a Sunday. Why? Because Sundays tend to be quiet, you end up lounging around the house probably making dinner, while hubby mows the lawn chatting it up with the other hubbys mowing their lawns.

Wash day can be an all day affair if you want it to be especially when you decide to really pamper your hair with something great and right out of the kitchen.

A hair mask is basically a deep conditioner* that ups the ante on taking care of your distressed strands. You can buy one commercially from your favorite brand but if you had a go to recipe you could always whip one up right out of the kitchen.

If you are interested in a hair mask that you can make yourself then keep reading because we found a great one. I watch Sunkissalba from time to time and recently she shared a video demonstrating a DIY hair recovery mask she likes to use on her natural hair.

The mask was kind of amazing because it had pretty much everything your hair would need to get going again after a long week of wear and tear. Let us say now, that this mask is great for all hair types including relaxed and color treated hair, because it is rich in protein and vitamins*, not to mention very moisturizing and all natural.

What you will need:

1 egg

1/2 an avocado

1/2 a banana

2-3  table spoons coconut oil*

1 table spoon honey*

2-3  table spoons castor oil*

A bowl and a blender*

Process

Blend all the ingredients until smooth and apply thoroughly to your entire head leaving the mask in for at least one hour. After the hour is over, shampoo with a moisture rich shampoo, condition and style as normal.

At about 0.58 on her video  Sunkissalba will demonstrate exactly how she creates and applies the mask to her own hair which kind of gives us a visual of what the consistency of the mix should be an how easy it is to do.

We would definitely recommend using a high speed blender* just to make sure all the chunks of the avocado and banana are smooth and your mix can be washed out easily.

Just a small note on measurements we do have some recommended measurements but they are not set in stone. When doing a mask you want it to be thick and not runny so that as you wait for your hair to enjoy it, it is not running down your back and all over everything.

Now watch the video and try the mask and let us know what you think.
