An Easy Summer Updo For Natural Hair

Need a cute summer up do style? Well I got one for ya! In Jamaica they say lawd it hot, and it really is hot, so the idea of wearing your hair on your shoulders or out is probably the furthest from your mind. You might be tempted to wear a bun everyday but that can get boring, trust me, I am an expert at “bun boring”.

So I was checking out the KG lifestyle and she had a easy breezy summer style that I thought was pretty cute and something alot of us could try. KG starts out with a twist out which means that you can have a style in the beginning of the week and end the week with a fabulous updo by day 7 so that you do not have to mess with your hair all week long if you do not want to.

The key to a great up do is the definition of your twists prior to the style, so when you do the twist out do not separate the twists so much that you lose all of your definition. You will need that definition for the style later in the week because it helps to give it some dimension.

The magic to a great up do is what you do with the front section so watch the video and see what KG does with hers. Some alternatives would be a pompadour where the front of your hair is pinned back and away from the forehead.

You can also opt to actually twist the front of your hair with a couple of twists to make the same bangs but just with your hair twisted up. If you choose to do twists just tug on the width of each so that they do not look so neat and structured.
