Create Your Own Regimen For Success

1a

Do you watch Sista With Real Hair? I do, her methods were always a bit strange to me, out of the box strange, and really great when you look at her progress. This video is mostly to show you ladies that if you build your own regimen, something that works for you and drown out all the noise you can experience your own personal success.

A regimen is a process, something you use to care for your hair, it is personal and structured around your own life and your time. When we get questions that ask us to suggest a regimen it is difficult because we do not know what your needs are but we do know alot about hair care and we share what we know everyday.

What you need to do is use the knowledge provided and build a regimen for yourself based on common sense and what your hair needs. I will give you an example that sistahwithrealhair mentioned. She does not use heat protectants when flat ironing because she deep conditions, if you use silicones especially in your conditioning process they can potentially protect the strands if you use heat, making heat protectants a thing of the past.

Another example is if you have low porosity hair, you cannot just deep condition your hair for three minutes no heat, you want some penetration so using heat opens the cuticles and the strand will let what it can in. This means that if your hair is low porosity then deep conditioning* often is a must for your regimen.

The point is, determine what works for you, and how your strand behaves, your porosity, if your hair is fine or coarse everything you need to know to build a sensible and efficient regimen. If you are having problems with building your regimen then follow these few steps to give your self a head start

1. Figure out if your hair is fine or coarse

2. Figure out your hair’s porosity

3. Make a list of products you will need for cleansing, moisture, styling and sealing

4. Determine when and how you plan to care for your hair

5. Define what success means for you. To be honest we always tend to imply that length is a measure of success and while that is true for some of us, it might not be for all of us, so it is up to you on what you think a successful hair journey is.

Finally stick to your regimen and if its working, really stick to it, if some of it works and other parts are a little questionable, then tweak it until it is right and then stick to it.
