How To Do An Easy 6 Strand Mermaid Braid

hqdefaultA nicely placed braid can add the perfect touch to almost any hairstyle. This six-strand mermaid braid is your usual braid with a different spin on it. This style is quick, easy, and it can be worn for a bunch of different occasions.

All you need are a few bobby pins* and your favorite styling products.

What to Do:

►This style can be done with damp or dry hair. Prep your hair the night before (whether you’re doing a braid out, twist out, whatever). Leave out a section of hair in front.

►Separate your section into two smaller sections because you will be making two braids. Pin back the second section.

►Use any gel or styling aid you’d like to smooth down your edges before you begin to braid. This will give the braid a neat look. You can start it as a French braid/cornrow and continue to braid down the length of your hair.

►Repeat this with the other section.

►Gently pull at your braids to widen and fluff them out. Take one small bobby pin and place it underneath your braids horizontally. This will connect the two braids at the base. Take another small bobby pin and place it in the center of the braids vertically.

►Gather the braids and bobby pin them back. Cover the bobby pin with your hair to hide it. Voila, you’re done!

This style isn’t complicated, but it looks really great. It can be worn for almost any occasion, and you can add your own flair to it by wearing your hair down, doing an updo, or whatever you can come up with. It only takes a few minutes.

It looks great on longer hair, but ladies with shorter to medium length hair can also achieve this style. You can also use temporary hair color on the braids, such as hair chalk, or pigmented cream eyeshadow for a different look.
