How To Transform An Old Wash n Go Into A Defined Twist Out

hqdefault (1)When I first began my natural hair journey, I was really narrow minded. I thought that every style had to begin with clean, freshly washed, and wet hair. I thought the only way to get from one style to the next was if you started from scratch.

What I didn’t know during that time though was that sometimes styles can come out better if they’re done on dry, stretched hair. Don’t blame me for my ignorance back then, I never really did my own hair before!

In the video below, she shows us how to get from an old Wash and Go, to a nicely defined twist out with only a few items are needed:

Spray bottle with water

Leave In Conditioner* (or ‘Hair Milk)

Hair Butter/Styling Aide

Oil

Denman Brush* or wide tooth comb*

All you have to do is a simple Twist Out! Section your hair and clip it out of the way. Lightly mist your hair with water, so that it’s damp, but not soaking wet. Begin smoothing the water down your strands to help moisturize your hair, which has been dry for a few days.

Afterwards, apply a small amount of leave in conditioner*, or hair milk. Use the Denman Brush* or wide tooth comb* to take out any knots and tangles in the hair, and as always, work from the ends up to the roots. You could finger detangle, but your hair might not be as smooth as it could be.

Apply your hair butter, gel, or styling aide of choice to the section and twist. Repeat this all over your head and let it set either for a few days or overnight. The next day, rub some oil between your fingers before taking down the twists.

This will prevent unnecessary frizz in your hair. You can pull and fluff your hair as you desire, but don’t play with it too much if you want your hair to last for a few days until you wash. And that’s it!

This is great idea for women that wash their hair less frequently but still want to style. The dry Twist Out will be soft, fluffy, defined, and it will last for a few days.
